Teppenpaw Concert Plan by Kir McLeod

The plan landed on Professor Xavier’s desk well ahead of the deadline of midterm. The suggestions box had not been overflowing, which had made the whole process of narrowing things down easier - essentially it had been a case of persuading Georgia to choose between her many ideas to make space for what everyone wanted to do, a weeding process that had been helped by the fact that one or two of them seemed only tenuously related to the values of Teppenpaw and just looked to be things she wanted to sing.

Kir had been tempted to put the whole lot to a vote, but once Georgia had narrowed down her selections there hadn’t really been enough to make that necessary, and so it meant everyone would, hopefully, be happy - assuming that she was.

Having grown up around people who wrote funding bids, and being a wordy person in general, Kir had tackled putting their ideas together into a neatly presented package - one that showed they had a detailed plan but which stopped short of Georgia cornering Dorian and Jozua and asking for detailed lists of their set designs, as this did not seem necessary at this juncture. Kir doubted Professor Xavier was going to say ‘no’ to their ideas, and suspected this was just a formality, but still, he wanted to show that they had done this properly. The only thing he thought their professor might object to was the degree of complexity, and thus demonstrating that they had the skills required and had thought the project through seemed a key thing to convey. The top sheet on the slim stack was a letter.

Dear Professor Xavier,

Please find enclosed details of our plans for the Teppenpaw concert performance. We have chosen to present several songs, with accompanying choreography.

Georgia has been involved with choir throughout her time at Sonora, and we have several other singers, musicians and dancers within the group (see attached list of volunteers and their skills).

Our chosen songs are all Muggle pieces. We invited open suggestions from our housemates and these were the suggestions made. We feel this adds a level of diversity and representation to the song selection, along with the fact that several pieces are by people of color. Included are the lyrics to each song. The majority of them celebrate the positive power of friendship, and of the value in standing by others and helping them through tough times. Additionally, the finally two songs speak for stronger values, such as standing up to bullying and celebrating difference and diversity, which we all agreed are core parts of what it means to be a Teppenpaw.

We hope you will agree and approve our project proposal.
Yours sincerely,
Georgia, Kir and Eden

As described, there followed a list of all the house members who had volunteered and the jobs they wished to do, followed by the lyrics to ‘Stand by Me’ by Ben E. King, ‘Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars, ‘Umbrella’ by Rihanna, ‘Invisible’ by Hunter Hayes, and ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry.
