This was Laurie’s last year at Sonora. It was his first and last year as Quidditch Captain. The redhead started his year with a sad note. Just before coming back he received a letter from Kitty telling him all about her accident and the fact that she wouldn’t be back for their last year. Over the last few months, his feelings for her had grown from mere friendship to something more. Laurie had even played with the idea of defying his family to be with her, but now his dreams were crushed. And he had been betrothed over the summer to some weird looking – Not Kitty – Pureblood girl that barely talked. Sonia Cavill was his age and attended a all girl’s school in Mississippi where her whole family lived. Needless to say, he wasn’t happy. Their first “date” had been attending Preston’s wedding to Sara Raines, and it had sucked. Big time. He spent all the time thinking of how much fun he would have had if Kitty had been with him.
The Teppenpaw walked down the stairs to the common room with a heavy step to post the sign-ups for the Quidditch team. What should have been the best last year of ever had turned out to be the worst. He was betrothed, Kitty wasn’t here to cheer him up and she was hurting. It all sucked big time, and he wasn’t in the best of spirits. The team would be his prime focus this year. He was going to lead them to victory and leave his mark before starting the next adventure.
The notice wasn’t his best work, but it would have to do. He wasn’t very creative and there was no need to doll it up. It was concise and to the point.
Hi, this is Laurie here.
Quidditch try-outs will be held next Thursday at 9am sharp on the pitch. Everyone is welcome to try-out and make Teppenpaw proud.
Please sign your name, position and year under this…Great! See you there.
Laurie Stratford, Captain, Beater, 7th year.
The redhead looked at one last time before going back upstairs to wait for Michael to arrive and have a bro-chat.

I'm there for ya dude by Carter Browning with Carter
Carter was having a fairly decent first week back at school despite his thoughts trailing back to the yearbook from the term before. He had expected to wind up being voted biggest flirt, most talkative and maybe most dazed and confused, but he hadn't seen best couple coming. He saw his and Wendy's names listed together for a best couple and his eyes nearly popped out of his head. He could see the two of them being voted best friends, but best couple? She wasn't even his girlfriend so how did they ended getting voted best couple? Carter shrugged at the thought. He had no idea how Wendy felt about it and he meant to ask her the next time he saw her. For the time being he was trying to focus on signing back up for the house team.
Carter came down to the common room from his dorm room and noticed that the quidditch signups were posted up on the house board. He walked over to have a look. Since Derry graduated last term Laurie had taken over as the captain for the team. He thought Laurie had done a good job as assistant captain so he didn't see why he wouldn't do a good job as captain. He couldn't help wondering who had been appointed as their new assistant captain, but he figured they would find out during their first practice/tryouts. He pulled out a self inking quill pen and put his name beneath Laurie's.

Dimitri had spent part of his summer debating on whether or not he would be rejoining the house quidditch team. He had done decently last term as keeper and figured it couldn't be that bad doing it again. He had asked his sister if she would be signing back up for the house team as well. She didn't reply as he could recall. He shrugged it off and kept on debating for himself. By the time he arrived back at school he had pretty much figured out what he going to do. Now all he had to do was wait for the signup sheet to go up.
Dimitri ventured down from his dorm room to the common room to try getting more of his song written. He walked past the house board on his way to one of the overstuffed chairs when he caught sight of the signup sheet posted up on the house board. He read Laurie's welcome message and nodded to himself. Knowing what he did about Laurie, the short and simple message made sense. Dimitri had already decided he was signing back up. He pulled out the pen he brought with him for writing and added his own name to the sheet.
Bri had gotten Laurie’s letter the year before and had happily (though nervously) sent him back a reply that she would love to be his Assistant next year. She’d sent it back to him and had almost completely forgotten about it.
Almost.
There was much change and Bri took the changes and tried to snap back out of it. “The show’s not over until the fat lady sings… And there’s not a fat lady here…” she said to herself as she walked through the Teppenpaw Common Room back up to her room one night. The notice board caught her attention and Carter and Mitri’s name underneath Laurie’s on the Sign Up sheet prompted her to take out a pen and write her own name beneath theirs.
Aubrielle Thornton, 5th year, Seeker and Assistant Captain she wrote, feeling kind of odd putting that last bit on there. She was surprised to be promoted, that was for sure. But she’d made a promise to herself that she’d be the kind of person that people could look up to, and that she wouldn’t spread herself nearly as thin as she had in years passed. She had to use some of her time for Quidditch now, more than she had in the past. She was going to have to take over the team when Laurie graduated at the end of the year, just as Amira had with Sophie.
“I got this… I got to play Ponine, and many other lead roles before, and I can do this too… I can…” she said, turning away from the sign up sheet and going up to her room.
OOC: Darina is also signing up, but on the off chance I don't get to make her post (it's on my list for tomorrow, but who knows what will happen), she's got her name on the signups too!
