An Owl for Laurence Stratford by Coach Pierce

This year, three of the four captains were graduating, so Coach Pierce's owl Boomer had a number of deliveries to make shortly before the end of the year. The owl was large and distinctive, so most students could recognized him, though he didn't often make personal deliveries to students who weren't Quidditch Captains. As such, the current recipient probably had a pretty good idea what the letter being delivered was about.

Captain Laurence Stratford, the letter attached to the owl's leg began.

Congratulations, you have been promoted to Quidditch Captain. Next year, you will be responsible for putting up sign-up sheets, holding try-outs, reserving the pitch for your team, and hosting practices throughout the year. You will, of course, have the help of an assistant captain. I recommend Aubrielle Thornton.

Though Aubrielle had only just made it onto the team this year, while Marcus Crosby had been involved with the team longer, Mr. Crosby had chosen not to join the team this year, so his chance to become captain had been lost, and Aubrielle was now the oldest current team member after Mr. Stratford.

If you would rather another to assist you, or don't feel you can perform these duties as Captain, please owl me so I can make sure the right people get their badges next year. You may tell your assistant of his or her promotion yourself. Congratulations and good luck.

Reply to Coach Pierce and letter to Miss Thornton by Laurie Stratford

How bad was it for a man to squeal like a little girl? Well, Laurie could care less about it right now. The letter from Coach Pierce still clutched in his hand while he frantically searched for a piece of parchment and quill to reply back. Laurie was now the Teppenpaw Captain!! The redhead couldn’t really believe it. Okay, he knew that he would become one, but having the letter making it official filled the new captain with pride and joy. His new badge would look marvelous alongside his Prefect badge. More importantly, his new captaincy would give him more status at Quidditch camp during the upcoming summer.

Laurie was grinning from eye to eye as he sat down after finally finding what he needed to write his reply.

Coach Pierce,

Thank you for your letter. I accept the new title happy and willingly and will make sure to let Miss Thornton know about her new position.

All the best,

Lawrence Stratford

The redhead Teppenpaw was trusted the Coach’s judgement, so he would appoint Miss Thornton as her Assistant Captain. He would pay special attention on honing her skills to make her a better player. The Teppenpaw was whistled and his owl arrived after a few minutes. Laurie realized it was better to send Miss Thornton a letter as fast as possible. So, he took another piece of parchment out and started writing it to send it right away.

Miss Thornton,

I hope this letter finds you well. I just received word from Coach Pierce and I am the new Teppenpaw Captain. She recommended you as Assitant Captain and would like to invite you to cooperate with me for the next year. If you don’t want the position feel free to say so.

Thanks!

Captain Stratford

Laurie grinned at his signature. It really felt great to have the new title. Now that both letters were ready he fasted them on his owl’s leg and sent him on his way.
