First Year Girl's Dorm by Darina Porter

Rina was glad to have at least met two of her roommates. She didn’t know if there were more of them in there, but she was surely to find out soon enough. It looked as if the Teppenpaw Head of House was calling them to him. Darina walked with the others, following behind Medic Bailey. Handy… He’s right there if… she thought, as she wondered if Addison was the reason why he was the head of their house. She does have a lot of issues… Maybe that was a good way to keep tabs on her? she wondered, though she guessed that had nothing to do with it, and Addison’s problems have gotten better. Her mother had told her that Addi was going through some things, but since that all went down things seem to have gotten better. Her older cousin was keeping her weight down, exercising and she didn’t really have any panic attacks over the summer, except a small one when she’d walked into the large party the Abernathy grandparents threw for the spring and summer birthdays.

She shrugged and kept walking once her brother was beside her. Medic Bailey pointed out landmarks for them to remember to help them not get lost and she paid close attention to them even though she knew she’d still get lost. Rina didn’t have the best of directional skills, that was for sure, but it wasn’t just that. They were in a new place and generally new place equaled people not knowing where they were. Medic Bailey stopped walking in front of a stair with a diamond shaped chip in it. Oh Merlin… I’m going to need to find a step with a diamond chip on it to go to my room?! she thought as he went on explaining that they had a jig to get into their common room. He showed them the jig in slow motion and repeated it twice more. After the third time, Rina turned to Mitri, eyes widened. “Merlin… I’m SO going to need help…” she said, begging in her eyes as Medic Bailey opened the door and led them in.

Medic Bailey showed them around and told them where their dorms were and that they couldn’t go up the other gender’s staircase. Again Rina turned to Mitri. At least we’re in the same house… she thought, unlike the Thornton side… They’re all over the school… she added to herself as the bulletin board was mentioned with other announcements.

When asked if she had any questions, she couldn’t think of any to ask, so her mouth stayed closed as she looked around at the others. When they were released from the little meeting, she gave Dimitri a big bear hug as they were sent up to bed and she whispered “Love you bro! See you in the morning. How about we meet for breakfast?” she asked, she didn’t wait for his answer as she bounced up the girls steps and found her room.

She wasn’t sure if her roommates had gotten to their room yet, but she knew that only opening the door would tell her the answer! She pulled open her door and smiled as she saw her things piled nicely next to one of the windows of the room and a nicely made bed beside it. Darina walked right to her bed and plopped down on it and it bounced her up and down a little bit. “Not bad… But it could be nicer…” Rina got up off the bed and opened up her trunk. Right on the top was her brightly colored and polka dotted comforter and she put that on top of her bed. “Ah, that’s better.” she said as she pulled out a photo of the whole family from the Birthday Bash in a frame. “Even better.” she added as she put it safely on her side table.

Only then did she realize that someone was in the room with her. Her cheeks blushed a bit, and she waved to them. “Hi…” she said.

Re: First Year Girl's Dorm by Noxienia Versailles

Noxienia had finished eating and listened as Medic Bailey called for the Teppenpaw first years to follow after him. She was quite pleased by this. It had been a very long day and she was ready to go to bed. As she rose from the table a yawn escaped her and she stifled it, blinking her eyes. She had had to get up early that morning to travel, or rather, it had felt insanely early since she was nearly three hours behind her normal time zone now. Instead of feeling likes she'd woken up at six, it felt more like three.

Following along with the other Teppenpaw first years, Noxie trailed more to the end of the group, her feet dragging slightly along e floor, arms drooping. She watched as Medic Bailey showed them where the entrance to the Teppenpaw commons was and the little jig to open it. Oh no! A jig? She would never be able to master that! Noxie was good at a lost of things. She knew all about animals and she could read really fast, but she could not, under any circumstance, dance. She'd tried and failed at ballet when she was little. The most she could do was bop her head and move side to side for the most part.. She just didn't have the grace for dancing,

As they ented the common room for the Teppenpaws, Noxie let out a slight sigh of relief. It felt... Better in here. Somehow. It wasn't nearly as overwhelming as the rest of the school so far. The yellow and maroon of the room was calming instead of brash. Once Medic Bailey finished speaking to them and said they were free to ask questions, Nox paused and then began following some of the other girls up to their dorm.

She entered slightly after Darina but didn't say anything. She was both tired and still feeling a bit nervous and shy. She watched Darina for a moment as she pulled out h blanket and decided to do the same. She found her bed and her things, pulling out her own blanket and spreading it out. It was a simple quilt, made by her grandmother out of various squares of fabric taken from Nox's favorite childhood clothes. Mostly light pinks and yellows with the occasional patch of blue, green, or purple and flowers, There were lots and lots of flowers and animals.

When Darina spoke, Noxienia jumped slightly and turned her head to look at her dorm mate. Darina had been nice downstairs at dinner... She wasn't that scary at all', but Noxie's voice stilll came out small. "Hi, again." She smiled brightly, her eyes darting downwards and around the room nervously. "You really must like polka dots, huh?"

Lets be friends? by Darina

Darina had made her part of the room as nice as she could have with the fact that it wasn’t home. At least her comforter was there, and her family picture was out and there for her to see. She felt weird being there with her brother, but not being able to see him all the time. It was a really icky feeling and it wasn’t one that she was so sure how to deal with just yet. She guessed that Noxienia, Portia and any other new Teppenpaw girls had either followed her into the room, or beat her into it. She wasn’t sure which way it had been, but it wasn’t really all that important. As she set herself up she was focused and didn’t realize anything of what was going on around her.

At that point, as bold as she generally was on a normal day, she felt really nervous and wanted to go home to her own bedroom across the hallway from her brother’s. It was weird, but a part of her actually wanted to cry… When she’d finally realized that she wasn’t alone, however, she tried to think about something else as she waved to her roommates and said “Hi.” Apparently, her saying that had scared Noxienia, as she jumped slightly afterwards. Rina blushed a little bit in embarrassment and held back a small sniffle. This wasn’t like her, but she’d only just realized that whole thing about not being able to be by her brother all the time like she used to be. As much as the twins gave each other problems and played tricks and pranks on each other, they still loved each other and she knew it. Noxienia was the one that spoke and as the other girl smiled to her, she still had her eyes dart around the room, most likely just as nervous and scared as Rina was right then.

Sure, she’d started off the trip excited and everything, but she hadn’t thought that she’d be split from Mitri though she should have. He’s a boy and I’m a girl, I should have known we wouldn’t be able to… as Noxie mentioned that Rina must like polka dots.

Darina nodded and smiled, realizing that even though she couldn’t sleep across the hall from her brother anymore, there were going to be girls in her room that would make it like she was having a sleepover every night! “I do love polka dots. Pearls too, and anything brightly colored…” she said to Nox, realizing that as weird as this all was, it would still be okay. “Your blanket is really pretty… It looks homemade…” she added to her new roommate. “Is it?” she asked, getting up off her own bed to go closer to Noxienia’s slowly, just in case she didn’t want her to see it. Rina didn’t know if it was something that she wanted kept to herself and until she got the go ahead, she wouldn’t push it. Instead, she waited for her new roommate to either say something or show her that she could come closer.
