Captain Kirstenna Melcher

August 28, 2012 5:35 AM
This was it, Kirstenna's seventh year. Her last chance to win a game and not be considered a loser. She was so tired of it all. She hated how people thought of Teppenpaw and their team. People in other houses acted like being beaten by her house was the most shameful thing in the world. Like nice guys had to finish last, just because they weren't psychotic.

Especially when they lost because the Imposter was . Obviously, the woman didn't like Teppenpaws because they were good and kind and she was evil and cruel. Plus, Kirstenna was on to her. She'd long wondered why the Imposter hadn't kidnapped her or boiled her alive or some other dreadful and/or gruesome thing but she'd figured it out, the Imposter wanted to break her spirit. Take everything from the seventh year so she'd fall into depression. That was why Brian had been kidnapped and Renee had been unleashed upon Sonora to work her dark powers on Sophia and the other Quidditch teams were so whacko.

She reminded herself again of her determination not to let the Imposter get to her. The Teppenpaw had been defeated, but not utterly defeated. Like the Daleks. The Doctor kept beating them but they kept coming back. Kirstenna wanted to be like that, only not evil. Though she wouldn't mind "exterminating" the other teams from the race for Quidditch Cup.

Or "exterminating" the Imposter either. But that was for the good of Sonora and all of humanity. That woman needed to be stopped, she'd done so much damage already but Kirstenna had no idea what to do about it. At least the Beetle Lady was gone, but that was because she'd had the Beetle Baby. The Imposter's child, the one she'd had with a ghost that was Evil Personified and ironically named Angel, was here at Sonora....and now living with the Headmistress . So he could kill her or something and the Imposter could have ultimate power at Sonora!

The seventh year tried to forget these disturbing thoughts and hung up the brand new-the old ones were tainted with bad luck-bright yellow sign that would surely catch attention. Hopefully Teppenpaw would get a good team together this year. For some reason Kirstenna's housemates didn't seem to want to play. Probably because they were too nice to be so competitive and the other teams were scary and insane.

She'd already put down her own name on the sign-up sheet.

Carter Browning, First year

August 28, 2012 10:19 AM
Carter woke up in the strange surroundings and had to remind himself he was finally away at magic school. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and pushed the covers back on his bed, stretching his long, thin muscled arms to the ceiling. He put his feet on the semi-cold floor and resolved that he would find something to do today if it killed him. He threw on his clothes, brushed his teeth, and headed down to the common room to look around. It looked the same as it had the night before when Medic Bailey led them literally dancing into their common room. If I'd have known that was part of the deal...I would have opted out of coming here he thought grimly reminded of how badly he danced in the first place. Having to do that everytime he entered here was a horrifying thought. Mr. Two Left Feet couldn't dance his way out of a paper bag much less into his common room. He was pretty sure that the spot he had to dance in front of would laugh at him if it was alive. Heck, for all he knew it could very well be given this crazy place.

Carter shook off the last thought and marched over to the events board. There has to be something here worth doing the new Teppenpaw told himself as he glanced over it. Then the signup sheet caught his eye. Quidditch huh? He had seen it played once in one of the arenas back in England. His grandfather was a big fan of the sport. Carter had become facinated by the speed at which the players flew and the way they manuvered around the field. He had always loved flying and playing mr. daredevil, which he was certain scared his mother half to death. He had found a deep appreciation for the sport himself and had vowed one day to play professionally if he could.

Carter wondered briefly what position he should sign-up for and then thought it really didn't matter where they put him just so long as he got to play. Pulling a self-inking quill pen from his bookbag he scribbed his name under the captain's.

Carter Browning, First year, anywhere I can get!

Carter smiled briefly at his first real decision here at Sonora and left the common room for Cascade Hall. He was hoping to find Kinnley there and maybe some breakfast as well. Decision making made a guy hungry.

Derry Four

August 28, 2012 10:47 AM
Living in Boston, Derry did not have as much opportunity for flying as he'd had in the privacy of his father's family's mountain, but it did have baseball summer leagues. He'd been playing with other teens from fifteen to eighteen and he felt sure his ability to hit bludgers had improved. Some of those kids had been good. Since bludgers rarely moved as quickly as fastballs, Derry was pretty sure his reaction time was now good enough to catch anything he might face on the pitch.

He had also worked on his swing. The bats for the two sports were designed differently - a bludger would splinter a skinny baseball bat without even trying - but the basic idea was the same. He would just have to get used to the different weight and size again.

Oh, and get reaccustomed to swinging while seated on a broom instead of with his feet planted firmly on the ground. That might prove the greater difference.

Either way, he was ready to serve his team again and help bring Teppenpaw to victory. He was now among the school's oldest beaters so that had to count for something.

Kate Bauer

August 28, 2012 11:07 PM
For five years, Kate had been on the Teppenpaw Quidditch team, and her record was what she was confident advanced status analysts around the world referred to as “pretty darn bad.” She trained, she practiced, she had even read books, and yet, somehow, something always went wrong. If she hadn’t known better, she might have suspected the Layne curse, but even those who seemed to believe in that – apparently, Uncle Geoff had been amazed when Rachel got through her whole seventh year and the whole summer after her seventh year without anything awful happening to her – agreed that it affected those who were about to graduate in one big burst of bad luck, not in small doses spread over years and years.

Still, when she saw the sign-up sheet for Teppenpaw, she put on a smile and made herself believe that this year was the one that was going to be different. Aladren had lost the Quidditch final – once, admittedly, and they’d come back the next year, but it had happened. And they’d been unseated by Pecari, which Kate frankly thought was worse than losing to her team would have been. Things could change up fast, and who knew. Maybe Rachel hadn’t broken the family curse, but just reversed it – she’d had a perfect seven years, so everyone else would now have years of disappointments before everything abruptly fell into place once they became Advanced students.

Non-superstitiously, Kate thought she should probably leave the team and see if they couldn’t get a decent Seeker in her place, someone who’d have better luck, but she knew Teppenpaw had trouble getting numbers anyway, and she was the Assistant Captain, which effectively put her in a box. She had to play. So she thought about superstitions and signed up.

Laurie Stratford

August 30, 2012 5:45 PM
The little redhead lived for Quidditch. Since he was little his father had taught his everything he knew and Merlin, he knew a lot. Patrick Stratford had played the sport professional and had instilled in his eldest son that passion for it. His mother wasn’t really a fan of the father-son bonding time, since things tended to get rough from time to time. Bludgers flying all over her backyard turned out to be detrimental for a few of the houses’ windows. It was all in the name of good fun, really. It had been a while since his father had the time to do that with the Teppenpaw which was why he was sent to Quidditch Camp for most of the summer.

Laurie had the best time there. He made some friends, improved his Beater skills – while Preston went away to study some old ruins – and worked out. He was taller and more muscular. The fourteen-year old was growing up! And he absolutely loved it.

The green-eyed Teppenpaw jumped out of bed to get ready to start school. He had received some letters the night before, and he had stayed up late replying to them. Laurie stretched and started his morning routine: comb his hair, brush his teeth and put his uniform on. He skipped out of the room but returned a few seconds later because he had forgotten his school bag. He hoped no one had seen his little mishap before laughing about it. He wasn’t fully awake.

The second time he touched the floor of the common room he finally saw the Holy Grail: The sign-up sheet for the Quidditch team. He almost squealed out of excitement bur refrained from it. It wasn’t very manly.

Now, finding a quill in his backpack had to be one of the most difficult things since forever. It was chaos in there, but he finally did after a few minutes of rummaging about.

Laurie Stratford, Beater. Fourth year.

He smiled at his name and ran out of the room to eat a quick breakfast. He was somewhat late.

Arista Thornton

August 30, 2012 10:39 PM
Arista had a very eventful summer. She’d gotten to spend time with her sisters, sure. Her main fun of the summer though was the trip she got to take to England with Uncle Bryan and Clara to visit the Abernathy grandparents.

They got to do a lot of fun things while they were there such as the Jack the Ripper Tour and the Ghost Tour, see a couple of shows and a Quidditch game to boot. Arista had her first trip to Europe, a shiny new passport and her first trip on a plane (not to mention one by herself!). They’d also actually gotten a Nanny/Housekeeper in Lucy’s sister Graciella (for which Ris was thrilled!). Her sisters seemed to leave her be when she was home with Gracie there and that gave the sixteen year old her much needed and desired space.

They had also started on an addition to their house. This addition was to house a room for Gracie, and another for Arista, on her own. This made her one of the happiest people in the world (with the exception of Amira with her assistant captaincy).

But now she was back at Sonora and looking forward to having a great year. 6th year was upon her and she knew that she had to start making choices on what she was going to do with herself when she was all grown up.

She’d done surprisingly well on her CATS the year before regardless of her lack of studying till the week before and her reaction to her Boggart during the practical part of the exam. But she supposed that was partly because of her inner love for her sisters though they drive her nuts just being them. She was the oldest of 16 and she couldn’t remember life without her sisters, even though some times she wished it was back to being that simple again.

Either way, this was a new year and a new start for her. Abi had started and was sorted into Crotalus. That didn’t mean much to Arista, but her younger sisters had been talking about this now second year named Carrie O’Malley (who she’d guessed was Ryan’s sister) who was also a Crotalus. She wasn’t too nice and Arista worried slightly about Abi before she realized that she could hold her own if given the chance.

Shrugging from thinking about Abi, Ris walked into the Common Room one night shortly after the Feast to see something wonderful on the Notice Boards. A bright yellow sign, in fact. This she knew was the signups for Teppenpaw’s Quidditch Team. “YES! This is our year, I know it is!” she said, very excitedly. She pulled out a quill and signed her name,

Arista Rose Thornton, 6th Year, Return Chaser

A huge smile grew across her face and she headed up to her room to do some homework.

Enion Whitebriar

September 02, 2012 5:09 PM
When Enion saw the signup sheet for Quidditch his first instinct had been overwhelming fear. The out of place emotion startled him so much that he avoided the sheet entirely for the next couple of days. On the third day he stopped in front of the sheet and gave it a hopeful look. There weren’t a lot of names. The fear of not being good enough to make the team faded at the realization that they might have no choice but let him join. But…I’m just a first year, what if they don’t want me? Gareth made it his first year, father would be so upset if I didn’t too. He bit his lower lip as he stared at the sheet.

He loved Quidditch, but he’d never actually tried out for a team before, and now he felt terribly anxious. What if try-outs went terribly? What if a bunch of other, older, better students showed up and made him look like a foolish little kid who didn’t deserve a spot? What if the captain hated him on sight and refused to even let him try out? What if, what if, what if. The questions plagued him, even as each became more ridiculous than the last.

Enough! If Gareth can do it so can I Enion told himself firmly as he scribbled his name on the signup sheet.

Marcus Crosby

September 04, 2012 9:42 PM
Marcus liked to have fun. For him, that usually meant doing something with family. The problem was that there wasn’t terribly a lot of his family at the school. Usually at home he’d spend time with Mom and Dad, and even once in a blue moon he could get Martin to play with him. His brother was grown up and in college during the year, and during the summer, he didn’t live in the house either now. He was married and stuff. He still came over sometimes, though, when Dad asked.

At Sonora, Aunt Lilac had been around, but she wasn’t anymore because of her brand new baby, and that was fine, but the blond couldn’t help missing her. Sometimes when she had stuff to grade, he just sat in her office and kept her company. To him, that was fun. His cousin Sally was at school, but he didn’t really talk to her a lot. He knew she tried, but his perkiness didn’t mesh well with her logical smarts. Marcus appreciated her effort, though.

He kind of had more family now that Aunt Jamie was remarried; now he had step-cousins. Marcus decided to see if Ryan would want to hang out with him sometimes, but the older boy didn’t seem very happy right now, and if he was going through something, the Teppenpaw didn’t want to get in the way. There was also Carrie, who was in his class, but from what he heard, she wasn’t very nice. He didn’t understand why anybody would be mean like her, but he also didn’t want to subject himself to negativity and meanness.

When family laced, people made friends. The thing with that was how he didn’t really have a lot of those either; he considered Melanie his friend though. She was pretty and nice, and when he was alone in the Common Room, he usually looked for her. Her sister Valerie was sick a lot, and that was sad. Marcus didn’t like when he was sick, and that wasn’t even that often. One day, he wanted to help people get less sick.

He supposed his teammates from Quidditch were his friends too, which was the main reason he took notice to the signup sheet. Last year he’d been a walk on, so at first he wasn’t sure what to do. Looking off of what other people had already done, he figured it out.

Marcus Crosby, second year, last year I played Chaser, but I’m okay with anything (including Reserve, if you want).

The really fun part was just being part of a team, so even if he got reserve, he wouldn’t have minded. The twelve year old didn’t need glory of victory or making a great shot. Actually, being reserve probably would have been better because then he wasn’t taking the spot from somebody who really wanted to play. Marcus wasn’t picky; he just wanted everyone to be happy!

Aubrielle Thornton

September 12, 2012 3:18 PM
Brielle knew that she hadn’t really wanted to play Quidditch the year before, but Arista had begged her to join their team when she was worried there wouldn’t be enough players. Teppenpaw apparently had a hard time finding players constantly. Arista had said it was because of the nature of their personalities. Bri had no idea if her oldest sister was right or not, but it hadn’t mattered much. She’d felt bad and had joined anyway. Thankfully she didn’t have to play the year before, but she only hoped that if she’d been begged to sign up again this year that she’d not end up actually playing again.

Sure, she’d sign up again, just in case, but she’d make it clear to Kirstenna that she’d be happy to let the other reserves (if there was any) play first. When the second year saw that the signups went up on the Information Board, she groaned. Walking over to it she looked at the names that were on it. Apart from Captain Kirstenna, Assistant Captain Kate, her sister, Derry, Marcus and Laurie there were also two first years signed up to play. She smiled and sighed in relief. She’d not have to play unless there were a bunch of injuries! Great! she thought to herself as she added her name underneath Marcus’.

Aubrielle Thornton, Second Year, Reserve (please!) she wrote and backed away from the sign until she hit the wall on the other side. “Oof!” she declared as her back hit the wall. Her head bounced off it, and she shook it to see if she was okay. It hurt a little bit, but it wasn’t anything she couldn’t handle. She sighed and walked away from it, wondering what possessed her to do this again, even though there would be plenty of other people to play for Teppenpaw.
