Is this what growing up feels like? by Arista Thornton

Arista went up to Teppenpaw after the game and was tempted to drown herself in the shower for more reasons than one. First off, Tepp hadn’t won the game. But what was worse was that her younger sister’s replacement caught the snitch for Pecari. She know that Amira had probably lost her rocker over it, so she was worried about her, much like she was sure Addi was.

The red-headed fourth year paced back and forth across the Common Room in the hopes of coming up with something she could do to both bring glory to Teppenpaw and help her sister at the same time.

She paced for so long that it felt to her that she’d wore a hole in the floor beneath her. The oldest Thornton child wasn’t normally the worrywart. That was Addison. She wasn’t the angry one. Amira was. But at that point in time she felt like she was channeling both her sisters regular emotions on top of her own desire to take every risk she could to make things change.

The lion inside of her was showing its teeth. I have to do something. she thought as a slight growl escaped her mouth. Anything!

Arista was still pacing, though now she was unwillingly getting herself all worked up over everything as well. Lots of thoughts clouded her mind. It almost felt that she was running on one of those hamster wheels to nowhere. The fourth year hated that feeling.

What was worse was this feeling had been entering her mind more and more often as her birthdays and the birthdays of her siblings passed. She knew that she was getting older and with age comes maturity her mother always said. Ris thought her mother said that phrase altogether too much, but that day it hit her like a ton of bricks to the face.

Is that what this is? she thought. I’m growing up?

“I don’t like this one little bit.”

I don't know, is it? by Addison Thornton

Addison could tell Arista was upset by the outcome of the game. The third year knew that it wasn’t only because Teppenpaw had lost the game. The fact that Amira’s replacement had caught the snitch for Pecari was the stronghold in the oldest two Thornton girl’s minds. Addi knew it.

Amira was prone to doing stupid things when she was mad or upset. This was fact for any who knew her younger sister. Addi also knew that Arista was ready to either flip out or do something stupid herself. The third year watched her older sister pace as she sat as small as she could make her overweight body be in her chair. Addi watched Ris pace across the room until she spoke.

”I don’t like this one little bit.”

“I know Ris. Really, I do.” she started gingerly. She danced around the words to use in her mind before speaking, in the hopes that they would be able to help her sister both calm down and feel better. “But it happened, all of it. We can’t change it either.”

”I know Addi.” Ris said with a sigh.

Addi looked at her and frowned. This was the worst outcome of the game that could have happened. Teppenpaws walked around the sisters, some stared and some ignored them completely. Addi wasn’t sure which was worse. She almost hoped that one of them would at least stop and say something to the sisters. Arista more than herself, but still.

Addison just looked at Arista and Ris looked back at her. Then the lightbulb went on in the head of the younger of the two Thorntons. “We can tell Amira to meet us somewhere. We can send her an owl. If we’re with her, she won’t do anything stupid, right?”

Arista shrugged and Addi pulled out a spare bit of parchment and a quill from the bag that lay at her feet. Mir- Meet Arista and I at the Gardens. We want to talk to you. she wrote in her small scroll. Addi groaned as she stood up, her foot having fallen asleep as she sat watching Arista pace. “I’m going to the owlery to send this then I’ll meet you both there.” she said to Ris, who nodded back to her. Addi left the room, grabbing her bag on the way out.

If if is, I don't like it at all. by Arista

Addison came up with the idea for the oldest two Thorntons to meet Amira somewhere in the hopes that it would help their slightly younger sister to feel better. Arista wasn't sure that would help for anything more than in the moment, but she didn't want to tell that to Addi. The overweight third year meant well, but Arista bet that she knew better than to think that would work for long.

Addi got up to go to the owlery and Arista nodded to her, knowing it wouldn't work. However the oldest sister had no idea what would work, so why stop the younger of the two oldest siblings from trying.

Arista, however, didn't get up right away to mosey to the Gardens. Instead, she turned to the windows and watched out of them. The red head didn't see anything that was really there. What she saw was home. Portland came into view and Aubrielle and the others were there to greet her. She smiled at the thought, but when she heard something crash behind her, she turned fast and her vision faded.

"Are you okay?" she asked the other person.
