Kirstenna Melcher

June 10, 2011 9:30 PM
In Kirstenna's wildest fantasies, she never imagined she'd be Quidditch Captain. Of course these were Kirstenna's fantasies, so being Quidditch Captain was not something that would ever be a thought. Much much too tame for the fourth year.

Still, she was proud of the acheivement whether her grandparents would be or not. The position meant a lot to her, but not for herself, Kirstenna did not care that much about titles. What she cared about was that Tobar, like Brian before him, had been a victim of the Impostor. She was certain he was now residing in the same hotel room in Gallup, New Mexico. Kirstenna needed to do this for him . For them . All of them, Tobar and Brian and every victim of the Impostor.

Last year, admittedly, hadn't gone so well. But that was because the Aladrens were imperiused by the Impostor to be vicious psychopaths on the Pitch. Because the Impostor was really a Carey-probably a Savannah Carey, as from what Kirstenna understood were the scariest ones, one of them was now a zombie -and the Aladren team had three Careys on it.

She was just a tiny bit scared. Okay, a lot scared. Why had the Impostor done away with Tobar so soon? It had to be to get him out of the way to get to Kirstenna . It was probably also a threat, like in this movie she'd seen where a woman had been stalking a man and boiled his daughter's bunny. The bunny and the daughter were not the intended victims, and neither was Tobar.

So now, Kirstenna had not only vowed to win for Brian and Tobar, but to protect her team from Coach So-Called Amelia Pierce. She'd even made sure to tell Kate Bauer about her promotion to Assistant personally rather than having the Impostor write her a letter that might contain the magical equivalent of anthrax.

She tacked a yellow and maroon sign to the Teppenpaw bulletin board. It was extremely pretty and attention getting and impossible to miss.

Derry Pierce 4

Knowing that Coach Amelia Pierce was not actually an impostor did nothing to make Derry more comfortable with signing up again for Quidditch. Now he knew for certain that she had used dark magic to kill somebody, and not just some random staff member he'd never heard of, but their shared great-grandfather. The one he'd been named for. And he couldn't tell anybody.

Kirstenna was at least on the right track, but she was missing a few key details. He wasn't quite sure how to correct her, though, since he'd been told in no uncertain terms that this was A Family Secret and did not get repeated to anyone who wasn't a Pierce and Kirstenna wasn't. At least she knew to be wary. And so did Ben and the other second years, though he probably only thought she was trying to get her hands on the Pierce inheritance.

But he couldn't just change his patterns. That would be suspicious. And besides, he really did like Quidditch, and he and Ben were a great Beating team. There was no way he was letting his ex-cousin (could he even call her an ex-cousin if he'd been born after she was disowned? There hadn't been any point in time when they had been cousins after all) scare him out of playing. She wouldn't do anything to him on school grounds. As long as he kept her secret, she wouldn't do anything to him at all.

She had her own family branch. She had no further interest in his. Or at least, not in Derry himself. Whatever her plans or goals were, she had waited this long. She hadn't made a single move against him all of last year, just watched him. So he was either not her target, or not her only one. She would wait until Thad and/or the Anns were here, too. He had one to three years to figure out what she was really after.

In the meantime, though, he'd play Quidditch. He put his name on the list:

Andrew Duell

Andrew couldn't have missed the sign up sheet if he had tried. Wow, Kirstenna really went all out on that thing. He looked at it for a moment or so, should he sign up again? This would be an interesting year, but he managed to get Quidditch in last year, he should be able to again. He did like the game, well he usually like the game. That match against Aladren last time around wasn't the most fun he'd ever had, but he still enjoyed it. Plus, he was the oldest player, if he dropped out Teppenpaw would be down to just fouth years and younger. That would hardly be fair, he would have to sign up. It took a moment for him to find a quill in his bag, then he wrote on the sheet.

Andrew Duell, Year 6, Any

He paused for a moment when he got to position. Every year he put down the same thing, 'any'. He'd been a chaser each year, and wondered a bit what the other positions were like. He had often thought being a beater would be fun, maybe keeper, but at this point they had good people in those positions and he was experienced in Chasing. He thought about just writing in 'Chaser', but that would break tradition, so he scrawled out his standard 'any' and dropped the quill back in his bag.

She hadn’t even told Momma, because she knew the information would not go over well, and was really loving her sister for keeping her mouth shut about it, too, but Kate was super excited to be Teppenpaw’s Assistant Captain. She would rather it had come along a year or two later down the road, since that would mean they hadn’t just lost one of their starting Chasers and their captain, but she was still feeling upbeat about both the list going up in the common room and about the season to come. They were going to win this year, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

The actual leadership part of being a future captain was scary to think about, but that problem was easily solved by Kate just not thinking about it that much. Kirstenna was only a fourth year, which meant she would be captain for all this year and three years after that. Kate had plenty of time, she guessed, to grow into the role, since nothing really suggested that Kirstenna was going to leave school or die horribly or go gibberingly insane and be dragged off by nice men in white jackets or otherwise do anything that would keep her from serving out her full, long term. She would be way more confident and sure of what she was doing when she was seventeen than she was when she was thirteen, that was just how life worked. Older people just had it going on better than younger ones. Look at Rachel. Sure, she was wacko now, but she was also a prefect, super pretty, popular, and had even managed to get a date to the ball on the first night. Kate found herself mentally, or occasionally physically, shrugging her shoulders uncomfortably when she thought about going to a dance with a boy, but she could see how it was an accomplishment.

Making Assistant Captain was an accomplishment, too. She kept looking at her badge to admire it. And Dad had promised her a new broom at midterm, he’d been really proud. That kind of outweighed the new girlfriend, even. She felt more inclined to agree that he and Mom had been divorced for ages and he had a right to move on and be happy when she considered that he was the only person in her family except maybe Sam, who lived in Chicago and nowhere near the rest of the family these days, who would think her accomplishment was as good as Rachel’s.

She was proud of her promotion, but still scatterbrained enough to not get around to signing up until two other people already had. That was definitely something she was going to have to work on before seventh year. What kind of captain would she be if she didn’t post the sign-up sheet for a solid week or something like that?

Solomon Asa Davies

It was something to experience. All his characters had adventures, and Solomon was only really ever awake when he was writing his characters. Reality was mostly a blur, unless he was eating. It was kind of a blur now, as he approached the sign up sheet and it was almost as if he was writing down a character's name instead of his own.

Solomon A. Davies
Proud to serve as a reserve Keeper
Year One

Keeper had the most resting periods which was a large part of why he was so drawn to it and had been during family games; lying down on the grass and dreaming, picking out different clouds to wonder about while his cousins hovered a few feet above the ground (as much as their brooms would allow) and struggled over the Quaffle at the other end of their backyard pitch. But Solomon also thought the position rather noble. The last line of defense. The stakes were so much higher for Keepers and the reward all the more glorious.

He was a little confused by the fact that the captain was a girl but shook it off. He knew women played and some were very good, it only confused him that he was being denied instant playtime due to a girl. If the sound of a three year wait hadn't pleased him (plenty of time, time to carry a title of reserve and get to rest, without any pressure) he would have thought more on it. He wasn't really used to being denied things in favor of a girl. But then again, he didn't want for much. Sleep, food, quill, ink, and parchment. Wealth was absolutely wasted on him.

Ben Holland

June 16, 2011 1:57 PM
Ben was ready for Quidditch this year. Cy had taken advantage of the summer months and began to train him like a maniac. She wouldn't be able to work with him much in the next several, due to the fact that she would be out of SUM, and on to the real world of fighting bad guys as an Auror. He had spent many hours in their small empty field, with bludgers flying at him. He would limp inside to dinner with a bruised shin or icing a sore arm. “She's insane,” he had told James once, “I've been working on dodging all week! I'm not so big a threat that they would hit both to me!” Admittedly, Cy's training was light compared to how he had seen professionals train. Mostly she had him fly and run laps, and aim at moving targets.

He was excited to be a second year, no longer finding home at the bottom of the totem pole. He wasn't really any closer to his seventh year than he had been at the end of his first year, but it felt good to be older than some one. He hurried over to the sign up sheet in the commons as soon as he had the chance. Several other names had already been added, four of which were returning players, and one was wanting reserve Keeper. It was hard to believe that he had only really played one game with his team. He felt as if he had played for them forever. As he dug in his pocket to pull out a pen, quills were such a pain at times, he noticed the Kirstenna was captain. He frowned after the original thought of “Good for her.” Where was Tobar? He hadn't graduated yet, in fact, this would only be his fifth year at Sonora.

Maybe he had decided to take a break from Quidditch, or transferred schools. Ben really wasn't sure, but he hoped that some thing terrible hadn't happened. He pushed it to the back of his mind as he wrote in his not-so-neat handwriting.

Arista Thornton

June 16, 2011 4:38 PM
Arista was thrilled! This year, her little sister Amira was coming! Amira, unlike Arista and Addison, was not placed in Teppenpaw, she was a Pecari, and Arista felt weird having her sister there, but not being able to really see her like she could see Addison. At the same time, the now thirteen year old knew that Amira wasn’t meant for Tepp, her firey personality and ways were much more suited for Pecari. The oldest Thornton knew that her second sister would be alright in Pecari, and that she and Addi would be able to see her in classes and whatnot, so it wasn’t like they’d never see her, but at the same time it felt odd to them.

Mostly to Addison though, and Arista knew it.

Arista walked back into the Common room from eating with her sisters, and spotted a new sign on the bulletin board. Her eyes opened wide, Addison on her heels, she stopped short causing Addi to walk right into her. “ADDI! Quidditch sign ups!” She exclaimed, as her whole face lit up.

Arista, regardless of the still paining tendonitis, was not going to miss Quidditch! Ris LOVED playing, and though she wasn’t the best she could be because of her hand, she would make sure that she was better than she was the year before even. She pulled out a quill and ink and walked boldly up to the signup.

Arista Thornton, Year 3, Chaser

Addison watched, nervous thoughts setting into the twelve year old’s mind, but didn’t open her mouth just yet.

“I’m so excited! I hope I make the team again! I really want to play!” Arista said, walking away from the board and sat, bopping her legs up and down excitedly, on a small poofy armchair in a corner of the Common Room.

Jessica Applerose

July 08, 2011 8:04 PM
Jessica hadn't been very active since she was appointed reserve Seeker last term. This term she was going to try for beater. She'd practised quite a lot with her dad during the summer. He was a Quidditch expert, he was. And Mum helped out too. Jess was bound to make the team for certain. She didn't want to be a blooming reserve again, even if it was to be a beater.

She looked at the sign up sheet, hoping it wasn't too late, and put her name down.

Jessica Applerose; Second year; Beater. She hesitated, not sure how to write down her thoughts.
Reserve Seeker last year, she wrote finally, and then, with a smile, skipped off to class.
