Jumping off a cliff by Tobar Brishen

Tobar Brishen knew that his life was changing dramatically and he wasn’t sure it was for the better or the worse. He was no longer the next leader of his caravan, nor was he going to marry Nadi Roth. He was his own person now and he would choose his own path. He had already planned to stay over at Sonora for midterm instead of rejoining the caravan, then during the summer he would visit his parents for a week or so before taking up residence with his Aunt who would gladly put him to work in her little book shop.

His Aunt Marie had once been part of the caravan but like Tobar had disliked the constant traveling. She had left at seventeen and opened up a Wizarding bookshop Wyoming. Tobar couldn’t see himself setteling down in Wyoming like his Aunt but was glad she was allowing him to work and save up money for himself once he graduated Sonora. Aunt Marie wanted Tobar to attend some magical University but Tobar wasn’t sure if that was for him. Of course he still had years to think about it.

Shoving all thoughts aside of the future Tobar entered MARS for the first time. He was excited about the room but he had yet to find a spare moment, until now that the Teppenpaw Quidditch season was over. Sure he was sad that he had lost as his first go around as Captain but there was the next couple of seasons. He smiled as he walked into the water room and grinned. The room wasn’t just a pool it was a cliff and after the cliff there was a rushing ocean. “Merlin this is awesome.” He whispered to himself happy that he could cliff dive here.

He was just about to jump off the cliff when he heard someone walk into the room. “Hello.” He said with a smile. “Fancy a jump?” He asked pointing down at ocean.

Nina Brockert

Sounds like fun. by Nina Brockert

As usual, Nina was bored. She was always bored. Maybe it would be different if she had friends, instead of feeling totally left out among her roommates. They would always have one thing that the fourth year would never share, and that was Quidditch. Nina would have been more than happy to make friends outside her year and house group, but the other fourth year girls and Raines weren't really people she had much in common with. In fact, Nina generally found the Crotalus boy, along with Delilah's twin, insufferable.

So the Pecari was often lonely. She wasn't the type of person who really liked to spend time alone and she didn't really like being different. Truthfully, Nina wasn't that different from the other fourth year Pecari girls. She was into a lot of the same things as them, she just wasn't on the team.

Besides, the dynamic within her dorm seemed to be changing. Starbuck didn't seem to hate Mel as much and Mel didn't seem as close to Delilah anymore. It was weird and quite frankly, Nina didn't know what to make out of it. Nor did she quite know why she ought to care. She was an outsider and she was afraid she always would be.

And she really shouldn't be. Nina was the kind of person who her brother said was never an outsider, except that Adam claimed Nina was nicer and more pleasant than similar people he had gone to school with. And he wasn't just saying that because he was her brother, as Adam would never say Chelsea was nice or pleasant. Though Nina
supposed he would say Chelsea was more pleasant than certain people he had gone to school with because he really did not like them.

Adam had also said that her roommates, specifically Mel, did not sound like they were worth her time and Autumn's sister Lily had echoed this sentiment. Except that Nina did not want to be friendless and alone. It was lonely and it was boring. She could have spent time with Autumn or Hope, but Autumn had her own friends and besides, only spending time with family because she didn't have friends was pathetic.

On this particular day, Nina decided to alleviate her boredom by visiting the new MARS room. Truthfully she had no interest in music or art, having never really had much talent or patience for either. Dancing was too much of a girly-girl thing for Nina's taste and the only sport she knew of was Quidditch, which she wasn't allowed to do. So, the fourth year girl opted for swimming in Room 1.

When she got there, Nina found she was not alone. Tobar Brishen was there as well. The Pecari grinned. She really did not want to be by herself, she always felt like she was even when she was in her room and everyone else was present. "Hey." Nina returned Tobar's greeting as she peered down at the cliff. She grinned "Sounds awesome."

Well I think it is! by Tobar

Tobar smiled at Nina Brockert as she returned his greeting and then grinned before saying “Sounds awesome.” Tobar knew who Nina was they had spent the last four years in classes together, and knew she was the only Pecari fourth year girl not on the Quidditch team. But he didn’t really know her all that well. Which was sad, she seemed like a really nice girl and she was cute. He wondered why they hadn’t ever hung out before, but then again most people had friends by fourth year unlike Tobar. He just had Quidditch and the members of the team during the season but once that was over Tobar just spent most of the time by himself. "Glad you think so!"

“Have you ever cliff jumped before?” He asked looking over at her. He figured that she hadn’t most people had never done it before. Most people hadn’t. “If you want I can hold your hand on the way down.” He didn’t even think twice before offering he had held his sisters’ hands their first couple of jumps. Not that he thought of Nina like a sister. He then realized that some girls might be offended at his offer and he blushed a bit.

He smiled as the waves crashed against the rocks he loved the sound it made. It was one of the most calming noises in the world. “So what do you think?” He asked as he looked back over to her.

Nina shook her head. "Nope, but I'd love to try it." Her mother would have a proverbial cow if she saw Nina jump off a cliff. Anything that the fourth year found fun, her mother wouldn't approve of. She knew it was that way for a lot of pureblood girls, but it seemed to be for an entirely different reason. Most parents of pureblood girls were worried about impropriety but Nina's mother was concerned about safety .

Too concerned, in the Pecari's opinion. Her mother had always been a major worrywart and since Kaylie's accident, she'd gotten even more uptight about this stuff. Because of this, Nina never got to have any fun. Even worse, it was because of this that she was completely left out among her roommates.

People didn't like those who were different. The one who did not share what everyone else did would be ignored and left out at best, teased and berated at worst. Nina's mother should have understood that after what Adam went though. Even if they didn't actually hate her, they would always share stuff that Nina didn't. And she hated that .

She blushed when Tobar suggested she hold his hand. Nina really wasn't offended. "Sounds like a plan." The Pecari replied. Her classmate was rather hot and she wasn't going to pass up this opportunity even though she wasn't scared at all. "Ready?" Nina asked, beaming at the Teppenpaw.

Here we go! by Tobar

Tobar smiled when Nina answered his question of weather of not she had cliff jumped before with, “Nope, but I’d love to try it.” Tobar loved adventurous people and girls that answered like that could steal Tobar’s heart fairly quickly. Sure he didn’t want to be part of the caravan anymore but he knew he would also be doing adventurous things for the rest of his life. He wanted to do things like rock climbing, and even jumping out of Muggle planes.

“Ready? She asked beaming at him causing Tobar’s smile to widen. “But of course!” He cried and clasped his hand tightly in hers. He moved towards the edge of the cliff and looked down. The waves were mild and the water looked crystal blue perfect for cliff jumping.

“Ok the key to a successful jump is to jump as far away from the rocks as possible. When you hit the bottom push up with your feet as hard as possible, almost like a jump, then kick with all your might until you break the surface.” He said with a smile hoping it all made sense to Nina, he’d hate for her to have a bad experience then she wouldn’t want to do it ever again.

“Alright on the count of three…one….two….”
