Wally the Great Horned Owl

June 25, 2005 11:47 AM
It was morning when Wally the Great Horned Owl arrived in the Teppenpaw common room. He had a lot of deliveries to make today, which made him very happy. Humans seemed to love to send letters to each other. He certainly liked delivering them, sometimes he even got treats. But there was no one in the Teppenpaw common room to give him a treat. This annoyed him, and he almost stayed there to wait for a human to come give him a treat. But there were places to go, letters to deliver. Wally dropped the letter to the ground, and flew off, without a care in the world as to what the letter in blue ink labled To:Jake Sontoro, Aladren First Year From: Coach Cooper said.

Dear Jake Sontoro,
It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been made captain of the Aladren house quidditch team. Congratulations! Your duties as Quidditch captain will include scheduling team practices, devising plays, and working with your teammates. Your first job as captain will be to get at least enough players to form a full team. If you have any questions, please feel free to see me at the Quidditch Pitch. Good luck!
Coach Cooper

Jake

Jake woke up earlier than usual, but feeling nonetheless refreshed as always. He grinned nonchalantly as though he knew something that no one else knew and climbed out of bed.

After doing his morning sit-ups, push-ups, and chin-ups (using his own make-shift bar), Jake grabbed his change of clothes and headed for the shower. Because his hair was nearly nonexistant, his showers never lasted more than seven minutes. With that out of the way and a brush of his teeth, Jake made his way into the commonroom.

At the bottom of the stairs, he paused to survey what his housemates were doing. Seeing a few of his friends, Jake waved and headed over to them, only to suddenly stop halfway there when he found himself stepping on a letter addressed to him. He didn't recognize the handwriting, nor could he figure out why it would be so formal as to put his House and year on it. Stooping down, Jake swiped the letter from the floor. He quickly ripped it open and read it. His dark eyes swept the parchment quickly before widening in surprise.

Jake turned around in the room, looking at everyone that was present. Was this a joke? Were they just playing a trick on him? Was he really made...Quidditch Captain? And as suddenly as he was surprised, Jake let out a yell of excitement while holding the letter high above his head. Without a word to anyone, he walked to the sign up sheet to check out the members of his Quidditch team.

He was saddened to find that they were still in need of another chaser, but other than that, their team seemed to be okay. He knew Dillon had potential and knew that Tally was a Quidditch head like he was, he had seen Kaylie around though didn't know her. Robbie and Dalila were both first years and, like Kaylie, he didn't know how they would hold up on the pitch.

None of that mattered at the moment though, first things first was rounding up another Chaser and setting up a practice on the Pitch. If they needed help, he would deal with it then. For now, he just needed a full team...and to write to his family to tell them the good news.\n\n
