Professor Bulla

OOC: My apologies about taking so long getting this up - there were some things that came up in r/l that took precidence. BIC:

Manfred, after gathering up the new students, and a couple of the older ones who seemed a little unsure about whether they could recall the password dance, led the way from the cascade hall. His path was much the same as the year before - it was best, he felt, to take the most direct route. Gave less chance for the students to get lost, or use that excuse for if they were late to classes.

And so, after traversing four winding corridors, climbing two flights of stairs, pausing at his office door to point it out to the new first years and then moving halfway down another flight of stairs, he halted at the entrance to the Teppenpaw commons.

"This," he said glowering slightly to be sure that his words were taken seriouly, "is something that you are forbidden to ever reveal to a student from another house." Letting his gaze fall upon each of them in turn, he waited until he saw that his words had some effect upon them before gesturing for them all to stand back and give him some room.

"Watch carefully," he admonished them before gathering his dark green robes up to reveal his sensible brown shoes.

Ten flawlessly performed dance steps later, he kicked the stair and stopped. The stairs above his position sank down, revealing a torchlit circular stairway.

"Come along," he said to the students, leading the way down way down. The commons, as revealed after the last turn was taken on the stair, were comfortably arranged, with several sofa's in the house colours scattered around, and some armchairs arranged in front of the flickering fireplace. The room itself was the perfect temperature, just right for relaxing with friends, studying, or getting homework done.

Manfred moved aside from the bottom of the stairs to allow the students to enter the room.

"Right. I am Professor Bulla, your Head of House and the Deputy Headmaster. Welcome to Teppenpaw. I hope you will all be a credit to our house. That corridor," he pointed to an opening on the right hand side of the room, "leads to the boy's dormitories. The other," he indicated the corridor that was on the left hand side, "leads to the girl's dormitories. If you need to find me quickly, there is an door to my rooms just there," he showed them a door near the stairs. "Just knock. Now, are there any questions you would like to ask?"\n\n

Dalila Bastet

Dalila followed her Head of House out of the waterfall encased hall and around what seemd to be the entire school. Professor Bulla, he said his name was, led them through hallways up and down stairs, to his office and halfway down another flight of stairs before stopping.

She tried watching what he was doing as she caught her breath. Just walking around here was enough to get sore muscles. Dalila laughed out loud as the professor did a rather stupid looking jig on the middle step. The laughter ended abruptly as te top stairs gave way to a nicely lit staircase descending down into Dalila's new home.

It was just as she had imagined. Comfy chairs and couches in yellow and marroon littered the warm and inviting common room and a fire crackled merrily in the fireplace, which Dalila found odd considering they were in the middle of the desert in September. The room wasn't hot; she supposed magic had something to do with it.

She glanced over to the staircase Professor Bulla had indicated as the dorm rooms and began walking up it, completely ignoring the remaineder of the speech. She didn't have any questions. Dalila was always one to find things out for herself.

She walked down one of corridors before anyone could say a thing, and glanced at the first door. It was a boys dormitory...that wasn't right. Dalila barely had time to scream as the floor beneath her dissolved and she fell through, landing on one of the squishy couches in the common room.

"What a rush!" she exclaimed loudly. "What happened?"\n\n

Lexi

Lexi was feeling exceptionally tired as she and the other first year students walked with their head of house through what seemed like half the entire school, to rest right smack dab in the middle of a staircase. SHe looked around bemusedly for a door, or a portrait, or anything, and then suddenly began dancing. After he finished, the stairs sank into the ground, and the students once again followed their head of house like ducklings to water.

Dancing to get into a common room, she thought to herself, shaking her head sadly. Maybe it's not just the Headmistress that's crazy here.

She didn't really notice the furniture in the room, too busy contemplating the lunacy of the instructors she had seen so far. She half-listened to the speech Professor Bulla gave them, but then noticed a slight flaw in her plan for Sonora.

She couldn't dance. At all. It was actually sad. She couldn't even sway back and forth without falling over, or something equally embarrassing. Now, this could be tricky, since apparently the only way to get into the common room, and thusly the doors, was by perfectly executing a dance pattern that looked a bit like a jig. She was doomed.

Raising her hand, she bit her lip nervously before asking, "Professor, what if we, um, can't dance? Is there any other way to get into the common room?"\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Professor Bulla

Manfred, having watched the girl who vacantly wandered off during his speach with the definite feeling that here was a headache in the making resisted the urge to cover his face with his hands. If only all young people could learn to listen, life would be much, much easier. Some, he knew from experience, indeed most who were sorted into his house, were of the the type who listened. it was, he liked to think, the trait that defined Teppenpaws.

That didn't stop the odd... gaffe.

His attention was drawn back to the crowd of new first years by a movement that caught his eye. A girl - who was somewhat nervous based on her expression and the way she was biting her lip - had raised her hand. He directed a nod and a slight smile of approval her way, encouraging her to ask her question.

"Professor, what if we, um, can't dance? Is there any other way to get into the common room?"

His smile widened imperceptibly, before his face took on it's more customary stern expression.

"I'm afraid not. But there's no need to be worried; every year I find that most students seem to find the-" he stopped and cleared his throat to hold off from calling it 'the little joke the founders played on our house' considering it a slightly too light hearted responce "-dance a little daunting at first, and so there will be dance lessons held here every second day after classes for the next month. Until you all master the password - and you will, mark my words - if you are stuck outside of the commons and cannot get it, there are to options. You can knock on my external office door - you all remember where that was? - or if I'm not available, you can wait around for an older student to arrive."

OOC: If you are outside the commons, on the stairs put '[on the stairs]' in your subject line before whatever else you wish to put there. The same goes with my office, except it should say '[Professor Bulla's Office]'. Welcome to Teppenpaw, kiddies.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
