Oliver sat in the library, his deeply scowling face hidden by a huge book. Not that this was completely out of the ordinary for him, since he could usually find something to scowl about but usually books made him happy. Education made him happy. Knowledge, after all, was power and nothing made the fourth year happier than that.
That was a large part of his problem. He had absolutely no power over his father's...perversions. It would have been bad enough for him to find such materials had they been of women, something no decent married man would look at as it was but that they were of men just made Oliver sick to his stomach. It was simply wrong.
And there was nothing he could do about it. He could look through every book in this library and not be able to find a thing to fix his father. To make him like women. To make everyone else wrong. He simply could not have a father like his.
Nor could he tell anyone. The shame was too unbearable. Oliver especially wasn't able to tell the one person he really felt might be able to help him-Grandfather. Grandfather was a very powerful wizard, quite skilled in mental magic and rather lacking in scruples. It was even said that he was responsible for driving Grandmother completely insane. If anyone could make his father normal and proper again, it was Grandfather. Except that Oliver was worried that Grandfather wouldn't cure Father, but instead outright kill him or make him the kind of crazy that Grandmother was. The Aladren wasn't afraid that his grandfather wouldt beat him for mentioning it like he had Uncle Marshall when he'd suggested such things a long time ago as Oliver had undeniable proof. He just...well, he wanted his father to be alive and sane, but to be attracted to women. Like men were supposed to be. He didn't want Father to be like Charlie Boxton-Fox-Reynolds, who quite obviously was into guys.
Maybe he could find something in the Restricted Section though. If Grandfather could do mental magic and Nora dabbled in it and Evan of all people was an Occlumens, probably in order to protect himself from his in-laws, surely Oliver was more than capable of it. Okay, he might have to bide his time a little since it was unlikely that a fifteen year old could fix a grown man with such precision. He'd start by practicing on animals. That was after all, the first route to performing such acts on humans. Grandfather almost certainly must have practiced on animals first. It wouldn't be too hard to immobilize some squirrels in the garden.
Other than that he needed to get permission to be in the Restricted Section. As an extremely brilliant Aladren, he shouldn't have a hard time manipulating a professor into giving it to him. And if he couldn't...he'd steal something from one of them and learn to forge their handwriting.
It was all for the greater good. He needed to straighten his father out once and for all.
