Ready for lesson (Tag: Ji-Eun) by Emrys Lucan

Emrys had been worried about meeting with Ji-Eun about Korean. He hadn't really learnt anything else other than French and he wasn't that great at it. He didn't want to disappoint or offend by pronouncing something with a horrible accent and end up saying something that was not at all what he meant. Even his music session with Charlotte a few days before hadn't calmed him down and so when his roommate wasn't in the room, he took out his violin in an attempt to relax himself. He loved learning things and he was excited but the problem was that he didn't like failing and he was worried that he would. When the time came to go to the library, Emrys packed up his school bag with fresh parchment and a new self-inking pen- he was sure to take many notes to help him guide on pronunciation.

Emrys left the Aladren common room and upon entering the library searched for an area that was away from others- he didn't really want people to hear his horrible attempts at trying to get the Korean right, yet still close enough so Ji-Eun wouldn't think he was ashamed to be learning. He wasn't, he really wasn't, he just didn't want a lot of people to hear his certain failure. Once he found a suitable table, he laid out his parchment and quill and then pulled out the latest book he was reading (The True Tale of Myrddin: The Man Behind the Wizard), and settled down to wait for Ji-Eun to arrive. He hoped she'd be able to find him easily and that he wasn't too out of the way. He was just about to get up to see if she had come but not seen the table (he was confident in that no one would steal the parchment and quills) when he heard her voice.

"Hi," he turned around with a smile. "How are you? Thank you for agreeing to teach me." He stood up and pulled out the chair next to him for Ji-Eun to sit down in. He wanted to befriend her, and being gentlemanly with Charlotte had seemed to get him quite nice results.

OOC: Sorry this is so late and short. I wasn't sure how to start it really and also got caught up in Real Life.

Ok. Let's hope I am too... by Ji-Eun Park

Ji-Eun wasn't quite sure how to feel about giving Emrys lessons. She was really pleased that he'd meant what he said about wanting to learn – the thought of sharing her language with someone was really exciting, and it was nice to know that he really wanted to and hadn't just been making small talk. Plus she liked him and hopefully this would help them become proper friends. She could definitely do with more of those. That said, she was rather nervous. She didn't know how to teach anything, especially not a language that she'd acquired naturally from birth. Where did one start? She didn't want to be a rubbish teacher or for Emrys to be bored in her lessons, especially as that would not only be rubbish in itself but would also mean that Emrys probably wouldn't want to really spend time with her.

She spotted him easily in the library, glad that the table he'd chosen wasn't right slap bang in the middle He'd made it easy enough for her to find him but she hopefully wouldn't feel like she had a huge audience at her novice teaching attempts, for which she was grateful.

“Hello,” she smiled at him. She nearly repeated it in Korean but he got in there first, chatting away. It was probably a good thing, that might have looked seriously goofy.

“I'm glad you want to learn,” she replied, “And I hope I'll be an ok teacher. I've never really done it before...” she explained shyly, addressing the folder in her hands rather than Emrys, fiddling slightly with the corner. She took the seat next to him, laying the folder down on the table and slightly regretting her decision to decorate it with little stickers of various food items with little smiley faces in case Emrys thought it was childish and silly. Generally she didn't mind if people thought that but she liked Emrys and wanted him to think well of her. Plus the folder was for his lessons so she didn't want him to be embarrassed by it.

“I brought some things for learning the alphabet – how to write and read all the different letters. Or, if you want to focus more on speaking, I could..um... teach you how to say some things?” she queried. What things? Where did one start with teaching someone an entire language. “Do you have a preference?” she asked.
