Michael had a lot of feelings about the idea of a Midterm show. And, as a teenage boy, 'lots of feelings' wasn't something he really liked dealing with. It was kind of cool that his parents and his sister Natalie would get to come to a school event. They always asked lots of questions and he did his best to let them know what school was like for him but it'd be totally different to actually let them into this world. That idea made him want to do something magical for the show, not just any old thing they could see him do in a school concert back home. Except, of course, that they never got to see him in school concerts back home. What if he did something magical and they just didn't get it? They wouldn't know how easy or difficult what he'd done was and they might just not really be that interested. There was also the fact that he had no idea what kind of acts people did in a magical school show. Something that he might think was cool and showy might look stupid to all the kids from magical families. Maybe most of them just did things like sketches or singing and dancing, just with magical effects rather than lighting and stuff.
The answer to anything could, usually, be found in the library, and so that was where he'd come to look for ideas. Only, now he was here, he wasn't entirely sure what type of book to look for. Did they have books on what was a traditional magical show? It was probably casually mentioned in some historical volume but he didn't fancy ploughing through them until he found it. There might be a performing arts section but he wasn't sure he wanted to be seen hanging around in there. It didn't seem very cool.
Settling on the strategy of aimless wandering, Michael began to meander through the shelves. The library wasn't a bad place for thinking, so his mind was able to muse over things as he walked. He guessed the Quidditch kids could do flying stuff but that wasn't really any use to him. Perhaps if he didn't come up with an idea here he'd go in search of someone to help him.
OOC – if anyone wants to follow this, feel free to have Michael rounding your corner in the library.
