Missive by Talitha Cumni

Dear Adam,

Talitha chewed on the tip of her quill, thinking about what all to write. Adam was at college, finally learning all he needed to fulfill his passion of wand making. Talitha still had a couple of years to go.

Well, back at school. Boy have there been a lot of changes. Professor McKindy is back! I am so glad! But the trade off is that Professor O’Leary is gone, which stinks. I hope the new DADA prof is a good one.

I miss you here already. I keep expecting to see you as I walk into the library or go to our Common room or talk a walk in the gardens. It’s weird not to have you here. I wish you still were. My hand misses holding yours, I miss the sound of your voice, your smile…
Talitha’s cheeks colored a bit as she finished the sentence. your kisses. She wondered how many of her classmates would believe that the shy, awkward boy she’d allowed into her heart was such a good kisser?

I have to admit that I am very disappointed with my grades. I got a D in Potions and an A in HoM. I know, stinks, right? Daddy was mostly upset with the History grade as he is the History Keeper for the Community. But dry facts and dates are just not something that sticks in my head. Daddy turns all of our history into amazing stories that hold the imagination, easily remembered. That is not what was happening there. And why were all the classes about negative things like wars and battles? At least I won’t have to take that class anymore.

Potions was no surprise. I hate, I hate, I hate Potions! So much for going into medical healing. I still want to help people and was thinking that I could still be a Healer/Medicine Woman in the area of the heart and mind, such as a Counselor or Spirit Leader. We’ll see.

Talitha was becoming more and more aware that she possessed some of her grandmother’s gift. She couldn’t See as much as her grandma, who was so in tune to everyone’s thoughts, feeling and futures that she had to learn how to turn the gift “off” to keep her own sanity, but she had unusual insight to others emotions and intentions more than the average person. She also sensed, sometimes, when someone she cared about was in danger or needed her without being around that person.

Lately, she had been dreaming what the person sleeping in the same room was dreaming which was totally bizarre. She kept having dreams of Lutece’s dad talking to eight foot tall walking carpets and, even though he was a Muggle, Apperating in a most peculiar way. He didn’t just “pop out”, he shimmered, dissolved into shiny glitter and disappeared.

She also found that she really cared about people. Even those who irritated her. She liked helping, being a shoulder to cry on, and showing people a new and hopefully happier path to follow.

Anyway, I got all E’s except one O in DADA. That is so lame on my part. I know I’m better than that! I guess I just don’t test well. So, I am taking Charms (yay, McKindy!), DADA, Transfig., CoCM (just for fun), and am doing independent study in Ancient Runes and Divination. I know that’s a pretty steep class load, but since you’re not here, I seem to have all this spare time on my hands….*wicked smile*.

It was so true. Talitha wasn’t aware how much of her spare time was taken up with Adam until she returned to Sonora without him. She’d dropped out of all of her extracurricular activities to be with him because Adam didn’t like socializing with a lot of people due to his shy nature. She’d neglected her friends. Even though Lutece was her very best gal pal and shared a room with her, their schedules never gelled like they used to. She had to admit she hated not having their all night popcorn and gossip chats. Talitha hoped they could reestablish those. As for Jae and Oliver, well having guy friends when you’re dating someone was just…wrong…for some reason she couldn’t put a finger on. Being an only child, she missed their sibling-like comradeship. She wanted that back more than anything. Elly, her adopted big sis, was always there for her, even though she never pushed the issue. Perhaps, now, they would have time to sit on the Magical Swing together again.

The best part of being so busy is that these next two years should fly by. Who knows? In two years you might see me at the University. But remember what I told you. I am not blind to the fact that you will be meeting a lot of new people and having awesomely amazing new experiences. If you want to date other girls, you can. I will understand. I do care and want to be with you but I know that I am still far away and we don’t know what the future holds. You are always in my heart. I hope we can get together over Winter break more than you know.

It was so hard to write those last words. Talitha wanted him to be true to her always but she, being a typical Crotalli, was pragmatic. Life could happen. Did she love, truly love, Adam? Was it just a school girl crush? Who knew. But one thing was for certain, she absolutely loved the ride and didn’t really want it to end.

Talitha looked down at the lengthy parchment. Time to end it and get to homework.

Love,
XOXOXOXXXOXXXOXOXOXOXXOOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXXOXOXOXOXOXO
Talitha

Talitha sealed and gave the letter to a borrow owl who took wing in a huff at delivering such a long epistle. Her own precious Owl, who turn out to be female, was guarding a clutch somewhere.

She began to do her homework for Divinations. Cracking the spine of the brand new text book. She’s just begun to study the lines of the palm that showed the owner’s past when someone sat in the chair in front of her and cleared their throat.

“Oh, hi!” Talitha smiled, all dimples. “I didn’t see you there.”

Divinations by Tobar Brishen

Tobar walked into the library a bit uneasy around the large wall of books. He missed his tribe of wagons and fun. It was awful for the eleven year old boy to be away from his family and his duties as the next leader. He tugged on his hoop erraing when he saw the older girl studying her palm. Ah excellent a palm reader, he sat down and cleared his throat. She looked up and smiled Oh, hi! I didn’t see you there.”

Tobar smiled and nodded. “It’s okay, I just saw you studying your palm.” He said with a grin, he had been reading palms as long as he could remember that and tarot cards. The only thing his parent’s had disliked about Sonora was the lack of a real Divinations teacher. “Are you learning Divinations on your own? I’m sure it’s not easy. My mother taught me.” He said with a smile. He was rambling and he knew it but he had not met anyone else who was interested in Divinations as he was. Of course that was probably because he was a gypsy and most people expected him to be able to do such things.

“I’m Tobar Brishen by the way.” He grinned and smiled at the girl across from him.

OOC: I know you posted this a long time ago but it looked lonely wanted to join in :)
