Stupid enter buttion in my way...TAG: Josiah
by Hyana
Hyana had smiled when Talitha and Gwyn had won, they deserved it. She had waited for Josiah after the meeting, where he asked her to meet him in the library. So here she was, waiting. Waiting...waiting. What had she done? Was he still mad about their fight? She placed her puffskein on the table and pulled a book out of her bag. It was a muggle book, but heck, who cared! It was good.
Hyana sat there reading. Josiah sure was taking a long time. Maybe she should have helped him...but she did have this good book! Carrie, she doubted that Josiah knew about it. It was a very gripping book, and it was so sad how Hyana could relate. Hyana was so deep into the book, she hadn't noticed footsteps, Josiah, walking over to her, and sitting down in the empty chair. Her eyes continued to scan the page. The prom? What is that Chris planning? How could they be so cruel to poor Carrie! Hyana exclaimed in her head. Chiyo chirped impatiently and Hyana thought she heard a slight, ahem!
"Ah!" She jumped, knocking her bag and it's contents all over Josiah. "Oh...I'm so sorry! I wasn't...I mean..." She blushed furiously and placed her bookmark in its place. "What did you want to talk about? Are you still mad at me..." She trialed off, picking up her stuff at random. What had she done, what had she done?!\n\n

Josiah had really tried to hurry, but his short arms had trouble holding onto the box. He wished he were older, the older students could carry this box in one arm! Plus, he felt short when he stood next to them. He didn't take any care in setting the box in his dorm nicely, he just plopped it on his bed and took off running, ignoring the various cries of 'Slow down!'
He reached the library, finally, panting kind of hard. He slowed down his breathing before entering, whiping sweat off his forehead. Running through this place was really tough! He walked over and took a seat opposite Hyana. Gosh, how good was that book that she didn't notice? He cleared his throat, belatedly thinking how Coach Fox had done the same thing to get their attention.
He helped her gather her things and set them on the table. Why was she always so darned shy? And how in the world did she think he was mad?
"Never! I'd never be mad Hyana," he paused, "well, not never, but I couldn't stay mad this long!" He smirked at her, trying to mold into his flirtatious mode, but having difficulties due to the akwardness of the situation.
"Listen, I just wanted to apologize. I was a jerk, I know it. You said some things, mean I will say, and instead of being good I just threatened you italian-style," Hyana being a muggleborn would get that joke, he hoped, "And, well, I guess I shouldn't have stayed mad as long as I did.
"And when I saw you upset, I thought that girl made you mad or something, and I never thought it was probably my fault. So, I just wanted to, you know, let you know I'm sorry..." this was the difficult part, "For telling mother." He looked at her, pleading with his eyes for her to not be mad.
"I-I never mentioned who you were, or that you were a muggleborn, but she might be looking into it. Plus I have a cousin...well three and and uncle and an aunt, who think the whole 'purebloods shall rule the world and exterminate blood traiters and the like'. And if she told my uncle, there might be problems if my cousins ever find out it was you."
He bowed his head, ashamed. He didn't mean to do anything like he had threatened in his fight. But, in his anger of the moment, he had told his mother about a girl who insulted their family. He hoped that that little sentance couldn't possibly have Alexis, Eve, or Brad know who she was and make her life heck at school. He really hoped.\n\n

"Never! I'd never be mad Hyana, well, not never, but I couldn't stay mad this long!" Josiah somewhat exclaimed to Hyana, who was worried enough already. His half smirk, totally un-Josiah-ish, made it even worse.
"Listen, I just wanted to apologize." Hyana opened her mouth to retort, but he seemed to be reading her mind. "I was a jerk, I know it. You said some things, mean I will say, and instead of being good I just threatened you italian-style," Italian style. Hyana did giggle softly at this joke. It was a little godfatherish, wasn't it? "And, well, I guess I shouldn't have stayed mad as long as I did. And when I saw you upset, I thought that girl made you mad or something, and I never thought it was probably my fault." Josiah continued.
"Josiah, it wasn't your fault!" Hyana lied. She wanted to say more but Josiah continued. So, I just wanted to, you know, let you know I'm sorry..." Josiah stopped talking. He was trying to get something out, but it seemed so difficult. "Josiah, what is it?" She asked him, worried. He looked at her with pleading eyes and said, "For telling mother."
"You told your mother?" Hyana asked slowly. Was that idiot even thinking?! She was muggleborn! Josiah continued to explain, wanting her to not be mad.
Josiah hung his head in shame, and Hyana felt horrible. For a breif second she had been mad at him, and that hurt the poor guy. He really cared. He was being un-Josiah-ish, not being more talkative, and Hyana felt so bad. It was her fault. She was the one that insulted his family...
"Josiah, it's okay." She whispered. "I'm not angry. You were upset, of course you'd write your mother." Then she hugged him. "But thank you for apologizing...for telling me, now I know what to expect." She quickly pulled away, a blush creeping across her face. Her sister had always told her hugs make everything better...but why was it so weird?\n\n

"Josiah, it's okay. I'm not angry. You were upset, of course you'd write your mother." Then she hugged him. "But thank you for apologizing...for telling me, now I know what to expect."
"You never know. With my family," he laughed as she pulled away. Darn it! She was blushing again This caused his face to slowly succumb to the scarlet tinge that clashed so horribly with his hair. What did he do? Was she embarassed that she made him mad? He had apologized!
Or was it something else? Like an angry blush? Maybe she didn't forgive him like she said she did. Maybe she was mad, but trying to cover for it. He opened his mouth, then closed it again. He really was unsure of what he wanted to say. What if he said the wrong thing? What if she really was mad? What then?
"Hyana," He grabbed her hands in his, "Listen, we're really close friends. I'd like to think of you as a sister. So, can we like talk instead of blow up on eachother next time? I'll try not to be so...guy-ish."
He gave her his lopsided grin, hoping that she really wasn't mad, or that what he just said wasn't going to make her angry. His knees felt as if they were due to give out at any moment from all the akwardness and nervousness of the situation. Belatedly realising it was wierd to hold her hands, he let go.\n\n

"You never know. With my family," he laughed as she pulled away. Hyana watched curiously as a blush creeped across Josiah's face. He seemed confused as well. He said her name, then grabbed her hands. Her eyes widened, and her blush turned from red to the color of Josiah's hair.
Listen, we're really close friends. I'd like to think of you as a sister. So, can we like talk instead of blow up on eachother next time? I'll try not to be so...guy-ish." He gave her a grin. He seemed to think that she was still mad. And it was sorta true. Just a little bit. After a few moments, he let go of her hands, finally realizing how awkward it was.
"Josiah, I agree." She said, trying to be more confident. Her lack of self esteem, she noticed, was bugging Josiah. "I see you as my brother. I am really sorry." She twisted a strand of hair around her finger. "I didn't mean to insult your family...it was the first thing that came to me. I've never really fought with anyone before!" She ended with a laugh.
"Hey, do you think we could stay in contact over midterm?" She asked as an after thought. "I don't have an owl, but we could communicate using Mo or something! Would your mother be mad though? I hope not." She was surprised at the words that were just spilling out of her mouth. Was it possible...she was becoming confident?!\n\n
