Up to my old tricks. by Elly Eriksson

Elly didn’t frequent the library particularly often. She liked to complete her homework in the common room with her friends, or lie on her bed to finish essays. The only reason Elly ever set foot in the library at Sonora was because she was up to mischief. If any of the staff ever discovered this they would probably spare no time in banning Elly from that particular section of the school. However, Elly was always very careful not to get caught in her mischief, so she was in no danger of having restricted access enforced upon her. This was just as well, because Elly was in need of something in particular: a spell that was certainly not on the school syllabus, so would be impossible to locate in any of the designated text books.

Taking care not to disturb anyone who was working, Elly made her way to the vast selection of charms books Sonora had to offer its eager students. Last year, when she had been planning her sticking prank, Elly had identified a number of useful books for future reference. Searching for these books was her purpose for being there that day. The sticking prank at the end of last year hadn’t been as successful as Elly had hoped, as most items had promptly unstuck themselves during breakfast. Some of the Pecaris weren’t even aware a prank had been pulled, and Elly was severely disappointed to have not caused more mayhem. Therefore, she was determined to try again.

The midterm holiday was approaching, and Elly had the most wonderful idea. She would be returning home for the holiday, though would also hopefully be spending some time staying with Meredith’s family, and wished to leave a gift for those who elected to stay at the school over Christmas. Elly had once come across a charm which produced falling snow, which apparently vanished before ever reaching the ground. Elly found the concept quite delightful, and was determined, if she could, to master the charm in time for midterm so that the Pecari common room could have falling snow for as long as Elly could make the spell last.

Elly found the spot where she expected the required book to be and began searching. Shortly, her eyes fell upon the title ‘Unusual Charms for amateur witches and wizards: volume II’ that she had come across in her first year. Elly took the heavy purplish book from its place on the shelf and carried it under one long skinny arm back to the nearest table. There was another student there already, so Elly sat down very quietly.

Thinking she’d better ask, even if just to be polite, Elly said, “Do you mind if I sit here?”

And some new ones by Josaih

OOC: Sry if you were in the mood to meet someone new, its just four days later with no reply

IC: Josiah was almost asleep over his book. He had spent many nights up until the library closed, looking for spells. Why in the world did he ever have to make a charms club? Why not something easier, like potions? Or better yet, why not quidditch? His mother didn't aprove of his playing the sport, but she might not mind him having a club dedicated to it, plus there would be more people joining.

Yes, he had checked the list a good couple of times. No, there was never more than two people. Well, maybe there was a list of like twenty in Aladren? He hoped so. If not, then his mother would never agree to let him have a pet.

So now he sat, pouring above a book entitled So you want to impress your friends but you aren't that good at magic? So far, it wasn't helpful at all. Half the spells in it were way too advanced for him to learn, and he doubted that Professor McKindy would let him perform them. Besides, they weren't all too exciting. Turn your hair purple, make your eyelashes grow to be three to four inches. Nope, nothing interesting.

A voice startled him out of his dazed reading. He looked up to see who it was. He grinned when he recognized the second year he had worked with in Care of Magical Creatures. Elly, that was her name!

"Why Miss Elly! Of course you can sit here! It's been awhile since I saw you! How are you?" He had a sudden thought on how to solve his delema, "For the love of whatever rules above, tell me you know some good charms?" He looked at her with the best puppy eyes ever, "You see, I have a club that I've made. A charms club. I need some spells, 'cause all I have is wingardium leviosa, and that was from class. I would love you forever!"\n\n

Always good fun! by Elly

OOC: It's ok, I'm happy to chat with anyone :D

BIC:
When the student looked up, Elly realised that she recognised him as Josiah, that flirty first year boy.

“Why Miss Elly!” (Elly grinned at the address) “Of course you can sit here! It’s been a while since I saw you! How are you?” he asked.

“I’m good, thank you, Josiah,” Elly said cheerfully, laying her book open. She was about to return the question to Josiah, when the boy started speaking again.

“For the love of whatever rules above, tell me you know some good charms?” He looked at her with wide, pleading eyes and Elly was forcibly reminded of an Irish setter puppy. He said the charms were for his club – Elly remembered the notice up in the Pecari common room – and he didn’t have anything more interesting than Wingardium Leviosa. Elly couldn’t help but think he hadn’t been looking very hard. She knew some excellent books for charms, and one of them was open on the table in front of her. “I would love you forever!” Josiah pleaded.

“Sure,” Elly aid, laughing. “I’ve found some great charms. This book is particularly useful,” she said, lifting it up so Josiah could see the front cover: a young wizard dancing with two stuffed elephants. “It’s full of great stuff,” Elly enthused, “I’m just looking up a charm to make it snow in the common room over midterm.” She said the last part very quietly, just in case a teacher was nearby to overhear.

And it's even funner with a happy person! by Josiah

Josaih grinned. So Elly remembered him! That was a great thing. He glanced at the cover of the book she held up. Cool, maybe he would check it out after she was done. HE grinned mischievously at her plans for the common room.

"You can count on me to keep your secret safe. I only know one person Pecari, and he's in my year. Jae, do you know of him? That sounds like wicked fun! I wish I was in your house! Though a pretty, and smart, girl like you would pull it off with one hand tied behind your back, I bet," He gave her a flirtatious wink.

He glanced down at the page in front of him. How to trick your best friend without them knowing until it is too late was the title. "Hey, maybe you should look at this book, Miss Elly? It looks good for," He lowered his voice to a whisper, "A little good-natured pranking." He laughed a bit.

"So, besides your little.. studying, what have you been doing lately? I've been on a crusade to keep my puffskein. You remember Teppers, don't you? He liked your puffskein as well. I've been busy here, looking up spells and the like," he stopped to allow her a break in which to speak in.\n\n

Happy groovy smiley! by Elly

Elly nodded when Josiah asked if she knew Jae. Technically, Elly didn’t know Jae, having never spoken to him, but you couldn’t be in the common room and not hear him. He was Brett’s roommate and Caedence had worked with him in one of their classes. All Elly had established was that Jae was energetic and very talkative – much like the redhead she was talking to. She was starting to get used to Josiah’s outrageous flirting, and when he winked mischievously at her, Elly mirrored his actions and winked right back.

Josiah suggested Elly take a look at the book he had. She read the title and raised an eyebrow. “I don’t tend to go around jinxing my friends,” she said. She didn’t think that was what Josiah had been suggesting, but it was just as well to put him straight anyway. She was starting to like this kid, and was considering introducing him to Mere and Echo.

When asked what she had been doing lately, Elly shrugged. “Not much,” she confessed. “Studying, swinging – did I tell you I built a swing in the gardens? – and a bit of exploring.” At the mention of Teppers, Josiah’s puffskein, Elly had a sudden brainwave. She wasn’t allowed to take her puffskein home to London over the holidays; her father had suggested she leave it with a friend. Elly had considered asking Mere if she would keep Custard over midterm, but neither Dot nor Pence seemed to get on very well with Custard. Josiah was right though – Teppers and Custard had apparently been good friends.

“Hey, can I ask you a favour?” Elly said. “My Dad said I could keep my puffskein, but I’m not allowed to take it home because my Mum doesn’t want me to have any pets. If your Mum lets you keep Teppers, could you have Custard over midterm? I’m sure Custard would like staying with you,” Elly said, offering her most winning smile.

Happy happy joy joy by Josiah

Josaih blushed. She winked back at him! Usually girls called him a creep or ignored him. He grinned, hey who said Elly wasn't awesome? He listened carefully to her request.

His first thought was; what would Mother say? She wanted Josiah home for the holiday, promising he could stay the next christmas break. How would she react to him bringing home not one, but two puffskeins? And what about Chipper? Would the old elf be happy that so many animals were in the house to clean up after? Maybe Josaih could bribe him, let Chipper sleep in his room, if he hid the puffskeins? No, Mother would find out eventually.

There was his father to consider too. While the man wasn't home most of the year, holidays were spent with the family. Evaan Ashwood would always get his work done early to spend some time with the family before going off traveling to various schools. He would stick up for Josiah! He was the one who had bough Josiah Racheel and Mortemer.

"I'll do it Miss Elly! I'd be happy to," He said with a smile of his own. "So, a swing did you say? I'll have to find it sometime! Those gardens are some fun to explore, arent they? And I can have Mo do a fly-by. That's his trick that he tells me if anything worthwile is up ahead. Or he can help me find a good path out. Useful guy. Much better than an," he shuddered, "Owl"

He remembered the family owl at home. And RAcheel wasn't used to puffskeins either. He would have to help Chipper do the chores, so that the elf could guard his pets while he babysat Custard. \n\n

If you're happy and you know it clap your hands. by Elly

Josiah agreed to keep Custard over midterm. Elly smiled widely with relief – that was one thing off her mind. She was sure Josiah would be able to look after her only pet, especially seeing as puffskeins weren’t difficult to keep.

“I could show you one time, if you like,” Elly said in reference to her swing. She had considered maybe building another one someday, providing Simon could help her with the materials again.

When Josiah mentioned owls, Elly noticed that yet again he shuddered at the mention of what were commonly praised as the most useful of birds. He’d shown the same dislike of owls in care of magical creatures. Elly wasn’t sure whether she should ask about his fear or not – he hadn’t mentioned it himself, after all, so maybe he wasn’t comfortable discussing it. Deciding to avoid the issue until they were better acquainted, Elly turned back to her book.

“Aha!” she exclaimed. “Found it.” She pointed to the spell at the top of the page, which was the spell she had been seeking, the one that created falling snow. The spell on the opposite page was the spell Elly had kept at the back of her mind for making clothes fold themselves. “Hey, what about this one for your charms club?” Elly said to Josiah. “It’s not a whole lot of fun but some students here might appreciate it. I know I would,” she added as an afterthought.

Dont worry, be happy by Josiah

I could show you another time "Sure!" he said with a little pink tinge on his cheecks. It sounded like she was begining to like him as a friend. He thought she was rather pretty and nice, but he liked Hyana better for now. Hyana had been his friend since opening feast. This was his second time talking to Elly. He hoped they could become better friends.

“Aha! Found it.” "That's great!" he said clapping his hands.

“Hey, what about this one for your charms club? It’s not a whole lot of fun but some students here might appreciate it. I know I would."

"That would be great. Maybe next club could be a 'prank your friends' theme?" He said, "I think I could research that. Well, Elly," here he dropped the title 'miss', "I gotta go now. Mortemer needs feeding and I gotta check these out." He said sweeping a hand above his books. He picked them up and walked away with a wave of his hand.\n\n
