Sulking..... by Adam Brockert

Adam frowned. They'd just finished eating and Kaylie had gone off to Quidditch practice, leaving him all alone. He didn't really know what to do with himself now. Adam didn't want to go back to Crotalus. He didn't feel comfortable there. He felt as though he didn't fit in. He found himself ill at ease with his housemates.

And he hadn't wanted to go anywhere else either. Everywhere else was so....public. There were people there. People who he was sure would be terribly mean to him.

So, Adam had decided on the library. It was large enough that he could find a nice corner to hide in while he curled up with a book. Even though he still felt nervous and scared. And upset. Why did she have to go and abandon him on his own?

He entered, grabbing a relatively interesting looking book off the shelves. Adam walked until he found a soft chair in an isolated corner. He plopped down in it and opened the book, but his mind wasn't on it at all. Adam felt like he was going to cry. Tears pricked at his eyes.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps. Adam quickly wiped his eyes with his sleeves and curled himself into a little ball. Hopefully, whoever it was wouldn't spot him. It wasn't as if he was very big or noticeable.\n\n

Escape from the Office by Nicolas Augustine Wolfe, Medic

The station being pristinely clean and tidy left the school's medic at ease until such an event arose that demanded expert attention. Thus, Wolfe moved swiftly down the corridor toward what surely would prove to be a much welcomed retreat into the familiar. "Get your nose out of that book, boy." He remembered the sound of his mother's disapproving voice so well. It stung like a needle prick even after all these months. A man of four and thirty should not be under his mother's thumb; it was just silly.

The doors to the library squeaked only a bit as he entered the santuary. The section on Muggle Studies did not interest the academic in the least, nor Herbology, Transfiguration, or any other typical wizarding genre of non-fiction. What the dear doctor needed was a dose of the fanciful. Wolfe needed to escape from the dull monotony that was his life.

The titles seemed to dance before his eyes begging to Wolfe: 'Pick me, Pick me!' He ran his hand over spines of the books on the top shelf hoping this would help him decide. What Nicolas did not expect to encounter was a chair as he concentrated on his selections.

"I," he stumbled a bit over his words. "I'm sorry. I did not see you there." The medic took a moment to look at the boy noticing the wet stains on the boys shirt. "Are you alright, Mister?" He let the question hang. The boy would have to give the doctor a name to go with the face.\n\n

Adam B.

Embarassed by Adam B.

Adam looked up. He was somewhat relieved that it was a staff member who'd spotted him and not one of his classmates. Kids tended to be more unnaturally cruel than grown-ups. Then again, his Head of House, the Defense teacher and Coach Fox were adults and Adam didn't find any of them to be the least bit nice.

"Are you alright, Mister?"

Well, that showed compassio, he guessed. The man wasn't mocking Adam for crying. "Brockert." Adam replied "Adam Brockert. I, um," Would the man laugh and think he was a baby for being upset about this. "My, uh, sister left to go to Quidditch practice and um, I'm rather upset because, I'm a little afraid of uh, being on my own." he stammered out, looking at the floor. Adam felt like such a moron. A total idiot. The man would probably think he was a wimp, crying over nothing.

OOC-Sorry it took so long. \n\n

Is that all? by Nic Wolfe, Medic

. I, um. My, uh, sister left to go to Quidditch practice and um, I'm rather upset because, I'm a little afraid of uh, being on my own." He heard the boy stammer out.

'Is that all?' He thought smiling slightly to himself. 'When I was a kid it took me hours to shake everyone off my trail so I could find my way to the library and spend hours going over the stacks.'

He ran his hand over the spines of the books nearest him. "This one will do nicely," pulling at random. "You don't need to be afraid of being on your own, but if you ever want company and I am not otherwise engaged you may come to my office in the hospital wing for tea. I'm just heading back there now." He smiled at the boy.
