When Boredom Strikes... by Jennifer Zucchero

The good thing about libraries, Jennifer thought to herself as she surveyed the near empty room, is how very peaceful the majority of them seem to be.. She sighed contentedly, and placed her book bag down on a table, taking a seat behind it. It wasn't that she didn't like the new members of her house, quite the contrary, but they all seemed a little, well, energetic.

Energetic? another voice scoffed. While that may very well be one adjective used to describe them, completely insane also works. After all, they are the ones who decided to start an inter-house war, because it was the "proper Pureblood" thing to do.

Jennifer, grimacing slightly, managed to refrain from answering the voice in her head, since ongoing conversations with yourself generally weren't a very good sign. Instead, she got out her charms book and began the paper that Bulla had assigned. However, she couldn't help but think back on exactly what was going on within Crotalus.

Her house was known as generally being the more blood obsessed of the four houses, coming from the fact that most "respectable" Pureblood families generally had some sort of connection with the house, and consequently their children got in. Fewer Muggleborns also entered, which gave the Purebloods who thought that it mattered a bit of a superior air at times. Jennifer didn't have a problem with that, since she couldn't control the way other people felt, and really didn't want to.

However, things had gotten to be a bit ridiculous with the newest batch. She had no idea what the basis of the conflict was, but it seemed to have divided the first years into two rather hostile groups. It was completely ridiculous, but they couldn't seem to see that.

Jennifer sighed, and told herself, as she had whenever she thought about this particular topic, that it really was none of her concern, and got back to work. Or, rather, she tried, but she gave up after a few minutes of struggling with the assignment, and merely sat at the table, head lying on her arms, waiting for something, anything, really, to happen.
