Hannah Cooper was a tall and lanky five year old, her light brown curls in two long pigtails. You might ask how she got to Sonora Academy. It was quite simple, she had come to spend Christmas and her birthday with her mother over the midterm vacation.
After she had gotten to the room where her mother lived, and where she would be sleeping, Hannah had left the first moment her mommy had turned her back. It wasn't that Hannah hadn't missed her mommy, but this was a whole new big place, with lots of rooms to explore.
It just so happened the first room she got to was the library. It was a little disappointing, she had only started to learn how to read and write and these books didn't have a lot of words she could read.
Walking in yet another aisle of bookcases, her blue eyes brightened when she recognized two of her favorite words. 'Quidditch' some words she didn't know, and 'brooms'. Hannah smiled.
Hannah had only started her flying lessons with her uncles this summer. And she wasn't to tell her mommy anything about it. She didn't understand why though, flying was so much fun, mommy even taught flying. But her uncles said that if she told, she wouldn't ever be able to fly again, and so she kept her promise.
Looking back at the Quidditch book, it was all the way on the top shelf, too high for her to reach. So she would just have to climb the book shelves.
She had only just began her climb, when someone put their hand on her shoulder. She turned around to see someone much taller than her; and it sure wasn't her mommy.\n\n
Jennifer, who was attempting to find a book to read over the holidays, was shocked to find a little girl in the library. And when she said little, she did mean little. Little as in being around half her own age. Watching the excited looking little girl, she cringed noticably when she saw the child beginning to attempt to climb one of the shelves.
Then, deciding that it was probably much to dangerous, she hurried over to the little girl and put a hand on her shoulder. The girl looked up, and Jennifer felt tall, for one of the first times in her life.
"It's probably better if you don't climb up the shelves," she told the little girl kindly. "I know it is always really fun to do that, but you can easily fall and hurt yourself. I should know. I've done it multiple times. If you have to get something on a higher shelf, you can probably ask a student to get it for you, or the librarian. Or, you could just use the little sliding ladders." She gestured towards one that was much farther down on this same shelf.
"So, are you here for christmas? And I have a guess that you're the daughter of someone on the staff, since you do look a bit young to be a student. My name is Jennifer Zucchero. What's yours?" \n\n
"My name is Hannah Cooper. My mommy teaches how to fly. I camed here 'cause Christmas and my birthday," explained Hannah, then added excitedly, "I'm gonna be six years old! That's more than a whole hand of fingers!"
She looked back up at the book she had been after. Hannah didn't think she was going to fall, she was holding on tight and didn't even look down once. Climbing on stuff was almost as fun as flying, after all. But this girl said she had fallen from the bookcase before, maybe it was possible.
"I wanna get the Quidditch book. It's too high," she said, pointing to the book she wanted so much.\n\n
Elizabeth caught the little girl's words as she walked intot he section of the library that contained her favorite thing in the world. Just being around the immense amount of great insight into her world gave Elizabeth a jolt of happiness. It was a dramatic change in emotions, since only minutes earlier, she was fighting (yet again) with Sally Porter. It drained Elizabeth to think about issues like that, family and such. She noticed that Jennifer was standing and talking to the little girl, so Elizabeth decided to help the girl out.
"So, is this the book you're looking for?" Elizabeth said, taking the book The Chaser's Bible: A compilation of the best tricks of Quidditch's chaser allstars down from the second to top shelf, and handing it to the little girl. "You must be Coach Cooper's daughter. I heard you were coming to visit us this holiday break."
Elizabeth smiled sweetly at the little girl who couldn't have been more than five or six. It was such a young, beautiful age. When you were six, everything was supposed to be perfect and lovely. Elizabeth's heartstrings panged as she remembered that six was the age at which her parents died. Atleast this little girl would have a better childhood than she did. A plus, she had to be pretty smart to be interested in quidditch.
"I'm Elizabeth Lavine, what's your name?" she asked, bending down to the youngster's level. \n\n
I can't think of anymore good "expl" words!

Hannah was an impatient five- almost six year old. And, being such, she didn't like repeating things, even her very own name.
"My name's Hannah Cooper. I wanna be a chaser like Mommy and Daddy was- but don't tell Mommy that!" she added nervously. If this girl told Mommy that she wanted to be a chaser, then she could get in big trouble.
Hannah studied the book. It was larger than she thought it would be, she didn't have time to read all that now! She looked out the window and saw two men by a stone hippogriff. She wanted to see the stone hippogriff too!
"I wanna go out there," she said, pointing where she had been staring to the two big girls, "Can we take the book for later?"\n\n

Jennifer grinned slightly at little Hannah. She remembered what it was like to be that age. What it was like to be so innocent, and happy all the time. She missed it, really.
"Don't worry, we won't tell your mom. However, if that's what she does, I don't think she'd mind that much, would she?" she asked hannah, somewhat confused. "And you can probably check out the book. I'm sure no one would mind."
She followed the little girl's gaze to the two men, and her own eyes widened. Now, that was a rather strange occurance, even at a school like this. She was extremely interested.
"Do you mind if we come along with you? After all, you could get lost really easily, and then your mom might have our heads for letting you wonder around alone. Plus, one of us could probably carry the book for you, since it is like a quarter of your size, and we really don't have much to do right now. Plus, you are very amusing." She added, eyes twinkling.\n\n
Hmmm... Nice little problem you've set me up with there. She wants to check the book out, which I need to do, so that she can go and see the people on the paths, one of whom is me... You can assume there's some spell thing set up for letting students check out books when the librarian's not there.
And I really hope you do come and see Tarquin outside - the mean professor upset him *pouts*, so he could do with cheering up. I know he's got off the statue now, but he hasn't got very far... Or doesn't have to have. *g*
And heehee! I'm studying Child Language Acquisition at the moment, so this is doubly cute for me to be reading. Plus I can call it studying! \n\n
Hannah didn't like being teased about her size. It was only her uncles who did that though, as she was the tallest in her whole first grade class, as well as the youngest.
"Well? Let's go! Let's go!" she exclaimed impatiently, dragging the girl by the hand towards a desk where she had seen people taking books in and out of the Library, "You too Lizzy!"\n\n
Jennifer continued to chuckle helplessly as she was dragged along. Oh, she rememebered this age even better now. In fact, she had gotten in trouble a few times for just this thing.
"Now, in order to check out the book, you have to write the index number of a sheet of paper, and slip it into that slot. THe book will be due back in two weeks, otherwise something bad happens, I don't recall what, precisely, though." She grinned, and then stood back to let Hannah try checking out the book. This was going to be quite interesting. Quite interesting, indeed.
OOC- You can post first in the laby, and Liz and I can meet you there.\n\n

Hannah had no idea what Jennifer was talking about with the whole checkout system. So she just wrote on the paper what they wrote when they went to library in school.
With the attention that only a five year old can give to her penmanship, she slowly wrote in a sloppy handwriting "Hannah Cooper- Quidditch Book".
"Okay, I got it," she said, slipping the piece of paper in the slot, "Now let's go already!"
OOC: I'll write in the laby under where Tarquin and Reiner already started, okay?\n\n
