Jade Owen

It had been a weird year, to say the least. There was still no final word on whether or not Quidditch would still be happening, which might mean that Jade had already completed her last year as Captain, which was a little unfair. She was also resolved to take her RATS at their normal time, even though she'd spent a quarter of the allotted study time without any formal instruction, and that wasn't especially fair, either. Then there was the fact that her best friend had selfishly wandered off before graduating, and that most definitely reeked of in justice. Still, Jade had a few pleasures remaining to see her through the rest of the term, and one of them was the club she had started, and lovingly nurtured to its current state.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning, and Jade was pleased she had decided to hold the meeting outside in the entrance to the labyrinth. The sky was clear, insects were chirping, and it was warm with a gentle breeze: perfect weather for sitting outdoors with some like-minded individuals. Jade's attire consisted of gray combat shorts, and two vests - one orange, one black - worn over the top of each other. Her brown hair was tied into two uneven, loosely curling pigtails, and she had discarded her tired sneakers in favor of bare feet. They lay at the side of the clearing next to the club's most recent scrapbook and a heap of other papers and magazines. A small table nearby held a plate of vegan horse-shaped cookies and a flagon of grape juice.

Jade welcomed club members as they arrived, inviting them to enjoy the mid-morning refreshments and to take up a seat on the dry ground. When a suitably sized group had gathered, Jade also sat down, and began the meeting. "Hey everyone, thanks for coming. On the agenda for today, we have discussion about the new regulations for domesticating Thestrals, the opportunity to predict which show Granian will win Arizona trials next Thursday, and I've got some coupons for a free issue of Practical Pony Keeping if anyone is interested," Jade began. "But first, I just want to remind you guys that this is my last year at Sonora," - no pause - she did not expect tears or jubilation - "so if anyone wants to carry on this club next year you may wish to discuss that amongst yourselves... or now, if you like. So, does anyone have anything they'd like to share to get the meeting going?"

Aria Yale

Aria felt off balance now that everything was balanced again, as strange as that was. She had become accustomed to the routine of things last term when the staff had disappeared. It was stressful, of course, and she did not envy Thaddeus or Alicia in the slightest (she was sure Alicia’s smile was frozen on her face). Aria had become so used to helping out that now that the Professors were back to teaching, she felt like she had so much time on her hands. It was a rather strange feeling.

Mostly, though, she was grateful to have communication with her family and friends again. Being home for Midterm reminded her of how much she had missed while not being able to communicate with them. It had been very difficult for her to leave them and return to Sonora, but she did so knowing that she only had a year and a half left. After which, she will be able to go to a University during the day and return home to her family in the evening. No more of this boarding school and being away for months at a time.

Today was Saturday and there was a Horse Lover’s Club meeting being held. After her usual morning routine in the gardens and a light breakfast, Aria met up in the designated spot. Today she wore her gift from Luna. It was a floral, spaghetti strap, A-line dress that ended mid-thigh. Luna had stitched it herself as she did with most of her clothes. They had talked over midterm in regards to their relationship. Eades had asked for Luna’s commitment and she had agreed to it, ultimately ending her relationship with Aria. Aria didn’t mind. They were friends before and during their romantic relationship, they would continue to be friends for as long as the Spirits allowed for it. But it did leave her with more time on her hands at home too. She spent that time creating pottery and little crafts with her father. She was running out of ideas for what to make for James, but decided on a picture frame with Quidditch symbols and Aladren designed carved into it. Her father had did a small painting of players flying in the game as a holder until James did as he pleased. He would be Captain next year, perhaps he would put a picture of his team in it.

She had taken that idea and ran with it. Picture frames were easier for her to create, so she had made one for Jade and Wendy too. Jade’s had horses on hers as well as Pecari symbols (the picture being the wild stallions that lived on the lands of the community) and Wendy’s had flowers (Aria always saw her as a free spirit) with Pecari symbols carved into it (the picture was a flower painting Aria’s father did, although it was just a filler for her). Aria’s designing skills in clay was getting much much better. Her skills in wood still needed work. She had sent James’s gift by owl the night they had returned to school, but she waited to give Jade and Wendy’s in person.

Being one of the first to arrive, Aria greeted the Hostess with a bright smile, while tucking her still brightly curly red hair behind her ear. “Good Morning, Jade.” Aria held out the gift for Jade before settling into a spot. Once the meeting was started, Aria wasn’t sure what to contribute. She didn’t really feel a positive about domesticating the animals, but she understood the reasons as to why some did. Not so much with Thestrals, but clearly other people thought so. She wasn’t sure how things would go next year without Jade or if it would even still continued, but Aria always enjoyed being a part of something when normally she felt like such an outcast.
