Team Fourteen training run by The Anns Pierce

Out of self-defense, the Anns had set up a daily routine for jogging around the gardens so they could survive Sophie's Quidditch practices. However, since they were trying to hide their involvement in that particular activity, they felt a need to justify the exertion with some other motive. Fortunately, the school had provided the perfect excuse.

So a few days after they had begun their daily runs - so they had a path worked out that was about the length of three Pitch laps and they had found a pace where they were no longer dying after only the first third of it (they were now dying after the first half) - they sent out three owls to secure their alibis.

One went to Aladren, addressed to "Team Captain Preston Stratford" because they felt a little sucking up was due in case the sixth year thought his second years were trying to stage a mutiny like some of the Aladren fourth years (including their own cousin Thaddeus) had, which wasn't the case at all. This was just a friendly and casual invite so nobody thought they were training for Quidditch, which was wrong, but rather training for the challenges, which was totally acceptable.

The second owl carried the same message to the two Crotali roommates who made up the remainder of their team's older students, and was simply addressed to "Mr. C. Princeton & Mr. G. Whitebriar" after eventually concluding that, since they were of roughly equal rank to each other, Cepheus should be listed first due to his name coming first alphabetically.

The final owl carried the invitation to their own House Commons of Pecari, to find "Miss Jade Phoenix" who was the only member of team fourteen who was younger than the Anns. They weren't quite sure who the first year was, despite being in the same beginners classes, but based on the fact that Jade shared a first name with Jade Owen, they assumed she was a girl.

Dear Misters Stratford, Princeton, and Whitebriar, and Miss Pheonix

We, Annabelle and Annette Pierce, would cordially like to invite you to join our daily jogs though the Labyrinth Gardens in order to train for any physical trials our group may face in the Challenges. As two of the smallest in our group, we do not wish to slow you down so we have begun a regimen to improve our speed and endurance, and Jade is very welcome to join us. If the older students wish to join us, as well, it would be very helpful to know how much we have left to improve. We begin at the mermaid fountain every afternoon at four thirty.

Thank you for your consideration,
Annabelle and Annette Pierce

They weren't sure if any of their teammates would come, but they arrived at the fountain - a notable landmark they thought most older students who had done even a cursory exploration of the Gardens would recognize and be able to find, and any Pecari (even a first year) should know because it was on the easiest path between the House entrance and the main school building - a little early with four copies of a map outlining their planned route though the hedges. If nobody came by five past the half hour, they'd just leave the maps next to the fountain for any latecomers and start.
