A bit confused... [Tag: Jude Normandy] by Demelza Eagle

It was a lovely day outside, but Demelza was feeling confused inside. She was stuck with Jude: of course, if it was true with him, she wouldn't think anything different of him. But she still had to know. He was one of her best friends. She used to have Starbuck as a really good friend, but then that evil witch girl decided one day that she wanted to have drama and hate Demelza. Demelza hated the fact that she didn't even know why Starbuck hated her, and that she didn't intentionally do anything wrong to her. Then Starbuck decided that she would just ignore her, so Demelza couldn't even try and make up. It was killing her. But she was going to worry about Starbuck later. She was a bit concerned about Jude.

Jude seemed happy, of course, but Demelza just wanted to talk to him. She liked talking to Jude, he was fun to talk to. She would have waited for him in the common room, but she would have been bored. So, she climbed up the special tree that she made an engravement in last year. She went up that tree often and sang to herself. She felt that singing would make her feel better. It was unusual for Demelza for be in such a down mood.

She quickly found her tree and climbed it until she was sitting on the big branch. She sang softly under her breath random words that formed in her head. Music came so easily for her. "I'm so lost and lonely. No one's a coming to me. So I'll just sit and sing." She closed her eyes and smiled. She loved to sing, especially under her tree of "Rubber Soul". She wished that Jude would hurry up. Then again, closing her eyes wasn't a very good way to find Jude. She grinned as she thought of a song with the name Jude in it. She was sure that Jude had heard of it, especially since his parents were like hippies and the song was from around the time of hippies. She sang it under her breath. It was such a lovely song. "Heeyyy, Jude. Don't make it bad. Take a sad sooong and make it better. Remember to let her into your heart. Then you can start, to make it better."

She sighed after she sang that. She had to talk to Jude about who the 'her' was in that. Apparently, though, it seemed that the song she sang was a call for Jude. She looked down from the tree, and then called out, to grab his attention, "Hey Jude!"

Since he probably wasn't able to see her, she jumped down from the tree, and then grinned at him, her thin heart shaped face full welcoming. "Can we talk?" she didn't wait for his answer. She took a big breath and continued, trying to choose her words carefully. It would be really awkward if she was falsely confusing him. She stopped for a second. On man, that would be the perfect way to ask him, because he was sure that he would say no. And if he said yes, she would be in deep trouble. Because she didn't like him in that way. Ew, no. Demelza frowned at the thought of dating a boy. That didn't appeal to her much. "Do you like...," she paused for a moment. No, she wouldn't ask it the way she was originally going to ask him. "Delilah." Don't kill me for this, Delilah, she thought. "As in like like? Or do you... like that boy you mentioned that you met at camp?" She held her breath. How would Jude react?

That makes one of us by Jude Normandy

After Charms class, Jude had motioned his friends to leave without him so he could talk to Professor McKindy really quickly about the last essay he had assigned. For some reason, Charms just really didn’t click with Jude and he’d had an awful lot of trouble on it. McKindy was cool and all, but the Californian was pretty sure that after he took his exams he wouldn’t be continuing with Charms. On the other hand, that was also something like four years away, so he’d better figure out some way of managing until then. But McKindy had pointed out some tips and Jude felt a lot better. Maybe he would re-do the essay and ask McKindy to re-grade it. His Head of House was pretty easy-going, so Jude thought he would probably say yes.

Heading back to the Commonroom, through the Labyrinth Gardens, Jude stopped as he heard a familiar voice singing a familiar tune. He laughed. Of course it would be Mel singing his name-song! Because yes, Jude’s parents had named him after the song. It was a neo-hippie thing, or an old-hippie thing, or something like that. Either way, the second year thought it was pretty nifty. He’d never met someone else with his name, that was for sure.

After following the voice for a minute, he came to a tree. The music stopped and he looked around. Had Mel decided to play hide-and-seek? His friend was crazy, there was no doubt about it. He shook his head, letting his light brown hair flop around—Jude really needed to get a haircut. His bangs were already flopping into his eyes, and school had barely started! Maybe it was part of the growth spurt that had shot him up two inches over the summer and was threatening to do more.

Thud. Out of nowhere (well, out of the tree at least) Mel had fallen, startling a grin out of her blue-eyed friend. Jude laughed and shook his head at his yearmate. She was the craziest out of them all, that was definitely for sure.

“Duh,” Jude wrinkled his nose at her when she asked if they could talk, but his light brown eyebrows quickly drew together in confusion. Wait, why did she think he liked Delilah? That made no sense at all. Yeah, he knew that a lot of boys liked girls like that, but he also knew that he didn’t, or at least hadn’t. Weirdest conversation ever, and that was saying a lot with Mel around. “Uhm, why did you think I liked Delilah?” the Pecari asked, voice displaying the confusion he felt. “I mean like, Robert’s cute and all but he’s also a Muggle and he lives forever away, and we’re like, thirteen.”

So lets aim for none us! by Demelza

Demelza wanted to just slap a hand over her face after Jude answered her. She didn't want to make anything more weird, but Jude was making it a bit hard. Clearly he did not get the point. Demelza was prepared for a strait forward answer, she forgot that Jude didn't even know why she was asking that. She had been a bit narrow-minded about the matter, but she wouldn't admit it. She sighed and looked Jude in the eyes. She shook her head at him.

"Just... curiosity," she tried to come up with a better reply in her head. "It's like you said, just something that most kids our age tend to think of. Not that Delilah likes you, in case you were hoping," she said, grinning a bit at her joke.

But then he did give her an answer, and that was when Demelza knew it was official. He had just said that Robert kid was cute! Guys don't say things like that about other kids their age in a serious way like that. But Demelza didn't have a problem with it at all! No, she was quite happy for her friend. Besides, it might have been part of the whole hippie-thing he really digged, she wasn't sure. She smile at him when she got her answer. Well that was all she wanted to know from him... well, sorta. But she didn't think that she could address her problem to him! But then again. he would understand, and her girl friends would just think awful thoughts that she even considered it. For the first time at Sonora, Demelza was finding herself not completely happy, and it was very unusual to see Demelza unhappy. What with her being a bit behind and confused, and Starbuck hating her for no apparent reason, drama was affecting her life when she didn't want it to.

The brown haired thirteen-year-old decided that she wanted to go back up in her tree, so she did, letting her legs dangle off the thick branch. She narrowed her eyes at Jude before saying, “So, you’re gay?” and then to fix up the way she said it (she realized that it wasn’t exactly the nicest way to say it) she continued on with, “But that’s cool, y’know. You’re way better than half of the guys in this school,” she said, and she really did mean that. Jose and Andrew were cool too, but besides them she didn’t like any other of the guys at Sonora. None of them were nice like Jude, Jose, and Andrew. Especially Theo.

Demelza ran a hand through her long chocolate brown hair and omitted a sigh. If Jude didn’t act as though he was offended or anything by what Demelza said, then she would tell him about her very similar problems. That was what friends were for, anyway.
