A little bit of magic by Eavan Valentine

Winding her way through the Gardens, Eavan decided that she had made the right choice in venues. Ever since that DADA lesson, she'd been wanting to continue practicing the Patronus spell. Not because she was studious, nor because she was particularly awful at the spell. It was curiosity. She had seen a couple of people actually get figures out of the clouds and she wanted to know what her Patronus was.

She had started off in the common room, but kept on getting distracted, so she tried to find another place to work on such a large-scale and complicated spell. She automatically forwent Cascade Hall for the same reason and had spent a whole five minutes in the library before realizing that the heavy silence was just as bad as all the commotion in the Teppenpaw common room. So she made her way to the gardens and found a nice opening just beyond the the entrance. It was circular with soft grass, pretty stone benches and a trickling fountain in the middle. With a satisfied grin, she pulled out her wand and said "Expecto Patronum!" in a clear voice.

After a full class session devoted to practicing, Eavan was now able to produce a steady stream of the silvery mist and spent a good twenty minutes getting no further than this before a turn at the spell produced something to look at. Eavan had to squint through the thinning cloud to see the thing flitting about.

"That's it?" Eavan said to no one in particular. She was expecting something fierce; something that looked as though it could take on a hundred Dementors without breaking a sweat. Or at least something a bit bigger than the hummingbird that hovered before her. She watched with disheartened interest at the small bird for a few more minutes before her energy was sapped and she collapsed onto her knees, panting softly. The hummingbird vanished.

Eavan had been so encompassed by the spell work that she hadn't heard the sound of footsteps on grass and only noticed someone was in the clearing with her when she saw a shadow from the corner of her eye. Turning her head slightly, she focused on the newcomer.

"Hey! I...was just practicing a spell..." she said, realizing how weird it must be for someone to come upon a girl kneeling in the middle of the gardens looking exhausted.

A little bit of talking. by Delany

Delany was walking through the pathways of the gardens. She had some experience in the gardens. She had met a few of her friends there. Today, her goal was to find a small alcove where she could read more up on potions. She wanted to know what certain ingredients did to make potions work. She had checked out 3 books on potions. For beginers, of course. She was walking along when she turned the corner. She stopped to look at...what was her name? Eavan. From History of Magic.

She was pointing her wand out in front of her. A small silvery hummingbird was fluttering in front of her. Delany smiled and watched as the hummingbird fluttered around.

When she looked back at Eavan, she was kneeling on the ground and panting softly. The hummingbird had dissipated. Delany looked up and down at Eavan, making sure everything was okay. She walked a bit closer and made sure not to startle her. she must have stepped on a twig, becuase Eavan looked up.

"Hey! I...was just practicing a spell..." she said.

"Yeah. I saw. It was really good." Delany said walking over and helping her stand up. "I don't know what my patronus is. I'm no"t taking DADA this year."

She let go of Eavans arm once she was sure that she could stand by herself. She smiled and looked around to make sure she didn't loose anything when she dropped to the ground.

"Do you have everything?" She asked as she pulled her bag up higher onto her shoulder.

OOC by Professor Connell

While in most ways your post is lovely, I just thought that a reminder that DADA is mandatory until after sixth year might be in order, just to avoid any future confusion.
