Feeling out of Place. by Chrissy

Chrissy had left the hospital wing along with the rest of them, but headed in the direction of the Crotalus common room with exclaims of meeting up with them at the gardens. She still thought that Zack's reasoning made more sense about the Pitch, but she couldn't see how anything would be there since it was so open to everyone with the rink and all. Of course, there was always the possibility of the clue 'hiding in plain sight' or however it went.

Still, Chrissy felt both excitement and annoyance at being there. If she hadn't been curious about it all or if the red-head...Elly... if she hadn't sat down and spoken to Chrissy to begin with, Chrissy would have minded her own business completely and gone back to the commonroom to find something to keep her mind occupied.

But, here she stood drapped in a heavy cloak with a knitted hat and matching scarf to protect her head and face. Even though, she wasn't all that cold, she just liked wearing them. She was staring intently at the sign and hoped against all hope that they were correct in believing this was the place to be. And if they were, then they couldn't get in trouble for being there since it was the school (presumably) who put up the notes to begin with.

"Well, I guess we just have to look for another clue, right?" Chrissy asked the other three.

Bundled up by Zack Dill

Zack hated winter. Granted, winter in Sonora was better than winter in Detriot, but it was still freaking cold. Zack had gone back to his room in the Alderaanian dorms to bundle up as much as possible before going back outside. Joining the three girls, he was wearing four shirts, three pairs of socks, two pairs of sweat pants, two robes, a winter jacket, a hat, gloves, earmuffs, a scarf, and boots. He was probably wearing enough clothes to equal his own weight and he sort of waddled a bit as he walked now.

Combined with the warming and insulation charms he'd cast on himself before going outside, it was worth it though. The exposed skin between his eyes was pretty much the only part of him even a little bit chilly. Joining the three girls at the agreed upon entrance to the gardens, he nodded when Chrissy suggested they start looking for another clue.

Whether they could tell he'd nodded through the hat and scarf that covered his head almost completely was another story, so he added aloud, "Yeah," in a slightly muffled voice. He jumped when a loud bang came from inside the Gardens and he gave the sign blocking the entrance a wary look. Taking a deep breath through his scarf, he gathered all of his courage and ducked under the security gate. "I really hope they're not actually doing construction. Should we head right for the noise and lights? Assuming this area really is closed off just to keep the final prize secret, the flashy stuff is probably for us."

What is you students doing in here? by Random generic Priarie Elves

It was all of five seconds before the alarm started to sound, and with it came the sound of a stampeding group of Prairie Elves rushing for the gate. They bundled the interloper up and out of the Labyrinth Gardens quickly waiting until all the students were definitely on the other side of the security gate where they could see the sign warning them that they couldn't enter clearly.

"Students is not supposed to come in here," one of them scolded. A few of his fellows looked slightly nervous and strained until another did something that stopped the alarm from sounding. The lack of booming noises relaxed them a little and one started to rub his ears as though they had pained him. "Is you not reading? The Gardens is closed. They is not safe for students while they is being maintained."

Leaving apprently. by Mia Kerova

OOC: I got permission to move Elly with me a little (hopefully I didn’t abuse it ;-p). Just for the sake of moving things along and having them make sense.

BIC: There was no way Mia was going to go searching anywhere outside in the middle of winter without getting her coat, gloves and all of her other winter essentials being as prone to illness as she was. She and winter just didn’t mix well. She loved the holidays, but not the weather. Mia went back to the Pecari common room with Elly and split ways at the third year girls’ door. Silk ran into the sixth year girls’ room the moment Mia opened it and jumped up on her bed, curling herself up in a ball. Obviously she wanted to avoid the cold too and was far less willing to tough it out for a scavenger hunt.

Mia grabbed her sweatshirt, a coat, wrapped her scarf around her neck, and fitted on her gloves and her hat, making sure her ears were covered. She put on an extra pair of socks under her boots and gave herself a quick look over in the mirror. With a quick readjustment of the visible ends of her highlighted hair, she went back to the common room.

When both girls were ready, they made their way to the entrance where they would meet Zack and Chrissy. Despite her heavy-duty clothes, Mia’s body still involuntarily shivered. She couldn’t help it. She had near zero tolerance for the cold. There was nothing left for the four student to do but start looking through the Gardens. Her head snapped up at the bangs and the lights from within the maze.

“I didn’t realize magic maintenance was so loud. Well, it’s a place to start.” She responded as Zack went past the gate. Before she could go through, there was a different kind of sound, like an alarm, that made Mia jump more than the other sounds had. She instinctively took a step back as what sounded like a herd of elves showed up and forced Zack back through the gate. Mia had to bite her bottom lip pretty hard to keep from laughing at the little creatures scolding them.

“Yeah, Zack. Is you not reading?” Mia said, pretending to agree with the prairie elves. “Sorry about that. We just misread a clue. That’s all. We’ll go.” Mia didn’t think they would have to sneak past elves that didn’t want them there just for a little hunt. She turned back to Zack, Chrissy, and Elly. “I guess we’re off to the Pitch then?”
