Planning...TAG: Talitha by Alexis Ashwood

OOC: I know that this isn't good, seeing as the computer is still messed up. But I had sudden inspiration for the post and I couldn't let it get away. Please don't be angry!

Alexis flipped her long red hair over her shoulder as she thought. So far, she hadn't seen Hyana or Josiah as much as she would have liked. In fact, she had seen Hyana more than her cousin. Maybe he was avoiding her. A smirk spread across her face. He really should have known by then not to try and avoid her. It would just end up hurting even more in the end.

What had really become important, though, was who Hyana had been hanging out with. Who Josiah mentioned over the summer. Who Hyana had spoken about. She already had a list of people to speak to. She had to turn them against Josiah. It would be so wonderful if she could turn Hyana against Josiah. Then everyone would turn against him, and it would be proof that, since he couldn't keep allies around him, he wasn't fit to be heir to the Ashwood bloodline. Then it would be her turn to shine.

Of course, Alexis already had a list of people that they had mentioned over the summer that she had to speak to. Irene Liddowe, Brett Hodges, Elly Eriksson, Caedence Redoak, Lucas Smythe, Echo Elms...and some other people. Alexis couldn't really remember who. Then she saw Hyana speak to a girl named Ebony, a Talitha Cumni, and she had (in one of her little spying sessions) seen Hyana talk to some french kid in her year. It seemed a little like flirting. Could she use that against her for blackmail?

She mentally went over the list again and again. The first person she had decided to talk to was that Talitha girl. She had worked with Hyana in History of Magic, was in Josiah's charms club (she had asked around), and was in Crotalus, which meant the girl had to be decent. It also meant she was smart enough to realize that being friends with mudbloods was ridiculous. Smiling from her thoughts, she looked up to see the very person she was thinking about. Talitha. She took a deep breath, and stood up. It was time for the games to begin.

Alexis walked away from her spot, humming lightly to herself, paying Talitha no attention. Then, right as she walked by Talitha, she tripped herself. It was very subtle. She often pretended to trip, and cry, when she was in the park, and her parents weren't letting her have her way. She had perfected it by now. So she landed on the ground, hard, at just the right angle to scrape up her arm, and land on her leg. She cried out, hoping to alert Talitha, and began to cry.

"Th-that really hurt!" she sobbed. She moved her leg out from under her, and pretened to wince. "My ankle hurts really badly...could you help me?"

Sounds more like plotting by Talitha

Talitha walked happily along the path. Things were going so much better than at the beginning of term. Her rollercoaster emotions seemed to settle down for the most part. Her old friends were wonderful and she was making a lot of new friends. Even Adam was her friend and he was a whole two years older. Life was looking very good. The changing leaves in the enchanted garden were a riot of color. The air was warm but promised change.

Change, it seemed her whole life since she’d first entered Sonora’s doors revolved around change. Some days those changes were so frustrating. Others, they were like a wonderful story that took one from the mundane into the extraordinary. Lately, it was that wonderful feeling that made it seem as if her feet didn’t quite touch the earth when she walked.

She’d just rounded the corner, still in her daydreams, not really paying attention to where she was going just in time to see a first year fall to the ground. From the way she moved and began to cry, the girl looked hurt. Quickly, she ran over and knelt beside her. She supported the upset firstie with an arm around her shoulder.

“Omygosh!” Talitha said. “Are you all right?”

Planning, plotting, same idea by Alexis

Alexis had to force the smile that wanted to come away. She had predicted that Talitha would be the kind of person to stop and help someone in need. It amused her to no end that she was right. This would just be way too easy.

"I...I think so." Alexis whimpered, hoping it was convincing enough. She just had to gain Talitha's trust, she just had to. Otherwise her plan wouldn't work at all. She lightly rubbed her ankle, and winced.

"I think I might have sprained my ankle." she said with a weak laugh. "I really should be used to it, I'm a walking disaster." Shifting her weight, she looked Talitha over. After a few seconds, she allowed herself to look shocked. "You were working with Josiah's friend in History of Magic." she stated, and then looked like she felt bad for her. "I'm sorry." Alexis sighed.

"I'm Alexis Ashwood." she introduced herself, gaining control of her voice as if she was actually hurt. "You're Talitha, right? I've heard of you." She then bit her bottom lip. "Hyana lied about you. You're really nice coming to help me."

OOC: Hehehe, yes, this took a while. Hopefully the computer will be fixed soon. Bear with me!

Plots can unravel...TAG: A Grownup by Talitha

Talitha bent over and looked at the first year’s ankle. There didn’t seem to be any swelling or discoloration that would indicate a sprain and she didn’t see any sign of a break either. The girl did seem to be in pain and so it would be better to be on the safe side and get help.

As Talitha examined her ankle the girl started chatting. Talitha figured as she said she was clumsy, the girl was more used to pain than Talitha was. A few years ago, she sprained her ankle trying to outrun a thunderstorm that caught her in the horse paddock. It hurt so bad, she had a hard time drawing breath, forget about talking.

She couldn’t help but blush a bit when the girl mentioned her being in the History of Magic class. It was still embarrassing to her that she’d lost control like that. It would be a long time before people would stop talking about her outburst.

“Yeah, well,” Talitha shrugged. “I don’t know what was wrong with me. I must have gotten up on the worst possible side of the bed that day.”

The girl introduced herself as Alexis Ashwood. Talitha nodded, confirming she’d remembered her name correctly. She glanced up in alarm when Alexis mentioned Hyana and implied that she’d spoken negatively about her. Hyana was too kind, too sweet a girl to ever say anything bad about anybody. Talitha must have said something during her rant in HoM to really hurt or upset her. Come to think of it, she hadn’t had a chance to get together with Hyana since that day. They definitely had to talk.

“Since your ankle hurts that much,” Talitha said, keeping her thoughts about Hyana to herself, “you shouldn't try to move or stand. My mom’s a Healer, she taught me some things.” Grabbing her wand, she held it high in the air and, using the sparking charm they learned last year in DADA, sent a shower of red sparks high into the sky above the shrubs. “I’ll stay with you. Help should be on the way soon. I’m sorry, but I’m not strong enough to carry you myself.”

Professor Niobe Yuma, Divinations

November 02, 2007 7:11 AM

I've been tagged by Professor Niobe Yuma, Divinations

Over the first few days of term, Niobe was delighted to stumble upon a swing in the gardens. Not only were swings excellent fun, but this one was in a private, out of the way place where it was unlikely for students to catch her acting a handful of years less than the 22 she'd managed to accumulate. It was her second year of teaching and, somehow, it wasn't going too much smoother than her first. Last year she'd had only Div 1 classes because none of the students had ever taken Divinations before. This year she had Div 1, Div 2, and the new Divinations for Careers class so she had to plan twice as many lessons as last year and grade twice as many papers.

Her inner eye was not so clear as it once was, and even the summer's Seeress Retreat has not been enough to uncloud it, but neither was it completely blind. When she saw sparks flying over the maze during one of her upswings, there was enough divinations professor in her to catch the faint, conflicting sense of deceit and urgency.

Catch it, yes. Identify it, no. Frustrating.

Niobe hopped off the next upswing, skirts rippling, and, shouldering her bag, hurried to where she'd seen the sparks. She arrived to find two girls on the ground. One was apparently injured, and the other was helping her. She
recognized one of them, a second year. The other was either a first year, or had never drawn attention to herself. Neither was old enough to be her students.

"What's going on ladies?" she asked.

So you have...so you have by Alexis Ashwood

OOC: I was just able to get to a computer *grins* Catch up days are fridays.

BIC:

Alexis nodded as Talitha explained her reaction in History of Magic, surprisingly concerned. She had to know the different topics to stay away from around Talitha, or else they'd end up enemies. That couldn't happen just yet.

"I can understand. Anyway, that Brett kid said some pretty mean things. I can totally understand you being upset. I would be upset if someone insulted my family, or where I came from." she said sweetly, praying that it didn't sound too over the top. This was becoming harder than she thought. "It didn't surprise me though. Hyana did tell me and Josiah that you were a cry-"

She shut her mouth quickly, and looked away from Talitha. She was definitely playing the guilty card. "Sorry, I should just keep my mouth shut." she apologized. "I just can't understand why they don't like you...you're so nice." Then her face fell for real. Talitha's mother...was a healer...that was unexpected. And so were the red sparks that were shot up in the air.

"That's alright." she said in response to Talitha. "I'm sure it'll feel better soon. You don't have to worry about carrying me." And then a Professor came. She didn't recognize the Professor at all, so she must've taught an elective or something.

She asked what was going on, and Alexis spoke. "I was taking a walk and I fell." she said. "I think I hurt my ankle. Talitha here was trying to help me." She bit her bottom lip nervously, hoping that would be enough.

Professor Yuma

And so here I am. by Professor Yuma

Niobe knelt down next to the pair. Talitha was the name of the girl she recognized, and the first year (probably) was the one who was hurt. That unidentifiable sense was stronger and clearer now, but Niobe had other things to focus on. First of all, what did one do in this situation?

"How bad is it?" she asked, looking for swelling or strange angles. "Can you stand?"

Clearly, if the pair called for assistance, it was bad enough to go to the hospital wing for. If they could get her on her feet, Niobe could carry her easily with a simple lightening charm, which would probably be less weird than floating her down the hallway and less strenuous than hobbling.

A month ago, Niobe might have reached around the student's shoulders to help haul her to her feet, but now that she had a student with a phobia of physical contact, she knew better than to make any assumptions. Instead, she offered her hand to help the injured girl to her feet, waiting for her to take it before adding any extra assistance.

And I'm so glad you are! by Talitha

Talitha’s only out word sign that she was less than satisfied with the situation was only indicated by a raised eyebrow and her lower lip went between her teeth. She bit down, not wanted to accuse Alexis of being a liar, but sure that she wasn’t telling the whole truth. First of all, someone would really hurt their ankle wasn’t so fast to recover the moment you mentioned calling for a grownup. Usually, the person who was hurt showed relief that somebody who knew what they were doing was coming. They didn’t protest that their injury miraculously felt so much better.

Second, Hyana was not a name caller. Even if she didn’t like the person, Hyana would never, ever do anything so hurtful especially when it came to someone she considered a friend. She would bend over backwards to find out what was wrong that may have caused a person to tears. Calling them a cry baby was not in her nature.

Talitha breathed a huge sigh of relief when the professor she recognized as the Divination professor (what was her name again?) showed up. Nobody could lie around Nana who was the Seer and spiritual leader of her community so Talitha figured this woman had to have been sent to them by the Great Creator, himself. She would get to the bottom of this.

“I sent the sparks.” Talitha looked at her with pleading eyes. “Alexis fell hard and said she thought she sprained her ankle. I was taught to not move anyone who might have an injury like that, so I sent the signal for help. Thank you for coming, Professor.”
