Weighing in. by Autumn Collins

This was the time of the month that Autumn hated most, even more than that other one. This was the time when the school Medic would weigh her, which was completely utterly humiliating. No woman liked being weighed in front of someone else, she assumed, but Autumn was especially sensitive about it.

At least she had lost weight lately, eighteen whole pounds since she had restarted her diet. The sixth year was pleased about this but it still wasn't enough. Autumn wasn't sure when she would be. Losing weight was almost addicting. Every pound made her feel euphoric even though she felt weak and tired and sick a lot.

Still, even though Autumn wanted to get even skinnier, it was better than her post midterm weight. She shuddered involuntarily, and not just because she was cold. The Crotalus never wanted to get up to that size again. It was unacceptable.

However, she knew that Medic Bailey would not be, as he was part of that conspiracy with her parents and her therapist to fatten Autumn up. Like she really needed that . She had still forced down a grapefruit this morning at breakfast. Well, half a grapefruit. Almost half. The sixth year had been barely able to stand to take even one bite. All Autumn ever saw when she attempted to eat-something she'd barely done lately-was her stomach and thighs and well, everything about her body growing even larger than it already was.

It was all the Crotalus could do to drag herself to the Hospital Wing. Not only did she really not want to do this, but she felt extremely tired and just wanted to stay in bed under her blankets where she was at least somewhat warm. Autumn wanted to lie in bed in her warmest nightgown and study or even nap, though she'd had trouble sleeping lately, which probably accounted for the dark circles under her eyes. Other than the weight loss, she looked terrible and didn't feel too great either. Not only did she have the dark circles, but she was pale and her hair was dull and lifeless too.

Autumn reached the Hospital Wing and collapsed into a chair, feeling a bit lightheaded after the walk. All she wanted to do was get this over with and go back to bed.

monthly routine by Medic Bailey

Dylan was now used to everything Sonora-related, from his fellow staff members to the usual patrons of the hospital wing. The Medic had fallen into a rather nice routine and there was nothing in the world he could really ask for. He was happy, and he felt great about his life. The people at Sonora had become part of his family. He didn't have the best of relationships with everyone, but the medic respected them for their work.

The medic had special patients and it was time for one of them -- Autumn Collins -- to come for her monthly weigh in. He was sure it was a tedious job for her, but her parents had been adamant on her checking in with him. The medic had graciously agreed with them, because it was his job and the girl had serious problems. He still remembered the day the examiner had brought her in. She looked like the minimal gust of wind would take her away.

Since he knew she was bound to come today, he already had her file in hand's reach. Being organized made everything easier. The medic had his wireless on and he was dancing to the rhythm of the nameless song that was currently blasting through the speakers. It had been a rather slow day, which was always a good sign that the children were healthy and being safe. He thankfully had no Quidditch injuries from the final.

Autumn finally arrived looking like worse for wear. Dylan frowned and meticulously looked her over. She was skinnier, she looked tired, and he was sure she had relapsed. He needed to let her parents and headmistress know about this. He didn't need to weigh her to know what he already knew.

“Miss Collins,” Dylan opened her file, “Please go on the weight.” Even when he knew what was going on he needed more proof other than what he could see. After she did so, he wrote down the number.

“Lay down. You seem tired.” Dylan opened a cabinet and gave her a pair of blankets. “You will need to stay here for at least a night, and I need to let our parents knows about this change in your behavior.” He quickly scribbled notes on her file.

Normally I like routines. This one, not so much by Autumn

The medic, Autumn thought, didn't seem too happy to see her.He was frowning and she wasn't entirely sure why. Maybe he felt this was taking him away from people who really needed him, like Valerie Lennox and Quidditch players and people injured in Potions accidents and stuff like that. The Crotalus felt horrible about this but it wasn't as if she wanted to be here either. If it were up to Autumn they could just call the whole thing off. She felt ill at times, and she could be seen for that but weighing her was humiliating and unnecessary.

She stepped on the scale as instructed. Although the number on the scale pleased Autumn a bit as she had lost a pound since the last time she'd looked-she weighed herself constantly, she just didn't like for others to see-Medic Bailey didn't seem to agree. The sixth year wasn't sure why, except that he, like so many others wanted to fatten her up. However, Autumn didn't get why they wanted that in the first place, especially her family. Did they want her fat and ugly so that she could embarrass them and either be a spinster or have her betrothed stolen by a skinny pretty girl? She was just glad that Nina was betrothed and Hope seemed fixated on Russell Layne.

Autumn was extremely grateful when Medic Bailey told her that she could lie down, as she felt extremely weak and rather faint. Actually she felt as though she could do just that at any moment. So she lied down on the bed and drew the blankets around her. The Crotalus was completely freezing.

Perhaps, he just thought she had some infection and that was why she would be staying overnight. So he could test for that and keep an eye on her. Maybe the chills were from a fever. Though the staff at the so-called treatment center Autumn had attended had told her it was a symptom of her illness, because she had no body fat. Which was completely ridiculous.

But then why would he have to contact her parents? If Autumn had the flu or something, what did that have to do with her behavior? She would get over that, it wasn't that serious unless you were like Harmony.

Her stomach dropped and the sixth year felt nauseous and even dizzier than before. She had this sinking dreadful feeling about what this. That he considered her to have 'relapsed' in her 'disease'. "Am I going to have to leave Sonora?" Autumn asked, tears forming in her eyes as she began to shake at the mere thought. The Crotalus had to stay. She couldn't miss school, she just couldn't .

Routines are nice by Medic Bailey

“I don't know, Miss Collins,” he said seriously while writing more notes on her file. It wasn't his decision, but it was his recommendation. The girl obviously couldn't be left unattended. What Autumn had was a very serious diseases that could end in tragedy if she didn't fully grasp the consequences of what she was doing. She could end up dead and that was something no one wanted. Plus, since the girl was pureblood from a prominent family she would end up as a wife producing kids. That scenario could likely not come true if she continued down this path. It was a very dangerous path she was walking on.

“I don't decide your fate, and you missed school last year. It would be detrimental to your grades, but your health is more important. Your parents will decide and make the arrangements with the Headmistress if they decided you need treatment out of school.” The medic began casting basic spells to check her general healthiness. Of course, Autumn was lacking in some departments. He would never understand the reasoning behind the girl's need to starve herself to death when there were other alternative to maintain a good figure and still be healthy. He knew all the symptoms, consequences and general idea of the why, but it was all theory. Miss Collins was the first patient he had treated with the disease. Yes, she would be better off being treated by experts on that.

If her parents decided she would stay at school, he would need to consult other medics to come up with a plan to keep the girl on the right path. Though he was sure that the school setting had become too stressful for her and that was the reason she had relapsed. So maybe it wouldn't be the best idea to have her here, but he would do his best if she did.

“What have you eaten today?” it was a very important question, and Dylan was ready for a lie from her part. Regardless, he was going to make her eat something and watch her as she did.

Most of them. by Autumn

She began to feel more anxious. Autumn just knew that she'd have to away again. That she wouldn't be able to convince her parents to let her stay here even if she wouldn't have to go back to that dreadful place she'd been to before. Her father had promised her she wouldn't have to go back there but she was sure to be hospitalized again if she had 'relapsed' as Medic Bailey seemed to think she had.

Last year, Autumn had fainted at CATS so it had been pretty much the end of the year and she hadn't missed much aside from the Fair that she really hadn't wanted to go to anyway. The Crotalus had taken both her school exams and CATS at the end of the summer and had passed them all, albeit not with perfect scores to do her situation. Autumn still felt like she was a tremendous failure even though her parents had made sure to tell her that they were proud.

The nervous feelings only increased as Medic Bailey mentioned how leaving would be detrimental to her grades, as Autumn had known it would be. This time she would miss big chunks of necessary stuff. Her only hope was that her parents would send her to a place with a tutor on staff or hire a private one to come visit her. Autumn just couldn't fail on top of being forced to get fat.

She began to hyperventilate as tears streamed down her face. "A-a grapefruit" Autumn gasped. "And-and oatmeal for breakfast with fresh strawberries. Salad with low fat ranch dressing and a chicken breast for lunch." The Crotalus simply couldn't let him know that she'd only had almost half the grapefruit. She didn't like to lie but in this situation Autumn felt that she had no choice. Maybe if she told him she was eating, she could stay.

Meanwhile, she was feeling more and more panicked. Like there was absolutely no air in the room and she couldn't breathe. She felt dizzy enough to faint and was thus extremely glad to be lying down. The idea of leaving Sonora for even two months was unbearable to Autumn and filled her with so much dread. How could she get perfect grades now? The Crotalus had to make up for last year, she just had to!

I agree with that by Medic Bailey

Dylan highly doubted that Autumn had eaten what she said. If she had, she wouldn´t be losing so much weight. He just nodded and wrote down more things on her file. At this point he was very worried about the future of the young girl. It looked gloom, and he didn´t like seeing a teenager wasting her life over such an unimportant thing. It just wasn´t right and it really pained him to see her like that.

“Just relax and take deep breaths,” he advised the girl that seemed to start panicking. “You'll have dinner here and you can go back to your dorm tomorrow morning.” Dylan hated playing the bad warden game, but he needed to make sure that she ate and maintained the food in her body.

Food was a vital thing for human beings and the girl had to be feeling faint and weak over the lack of it. How could she manage to maintain a normal routine was beyond him. He got cranky if he didn't eat at his hours and the girl went all day with less than the minimum requirement for a body functioning. That was something he couldn´t explain, but it seemed that she was used to that caloric intake. It probably had cost her a lot and the fact that it was a psychological probably helped, too. It was a branch of medicine that he didn´t really understand. His forte was physical injuries.
