[Greenhouse One] Intermediate Herbology by Professor Xavier

Unlike most intermediate classes going on in the school at this late date in the year, Herbology was not gearing up for their CATS. The intermediates were on a fast track of lessons to catch up to where they were supposed to be at this level when they had only had not quite two years with the subject, but they were nowhere near ready for CATS yet, so Nathan wasn't even talking about the standardized test yet. Next year, he thought, both the Advanced class and the current fourth years could take it, but for right now, that was too far away to even think about.

"Hello, everyone," he greeted the class once they had all arrived. He'd greeted each student individually as well as returned their latest homework essay as they arrived, but it always felt more natural to make a more general greeting before launching into his day's lesson plan.

"The first thing we're doing today is continuing our care for our Fanged Geraniums. Please take a few minutes to check on your plant and record your notes on its growth. You may compare your plant's progress to those of your classmates. If you do notice a difference, you may also hypothesize about why yours is further along or behind." Most of them were just starting to bud, but a few that had been ideally placed for a lot of sunlight over the weekend had fully bloomed flowers with fangs, and others that had been in shadier areas did not have any buds at all yet. "If yours does have fangs, please put on your gloves before trying to water or weed it. They will bite if given the chance."

"You have fifteen minutes to provide your plant with its maintenance care and write up your notes. Please turn in your notes to my desk when you're done. Once that is finished, we'll start discussing the chapter you were assigned to read for today, so you may want to review that if you finish early."

As the other students began to collect their plants from the labeled storage shelves where they had been sitting since they put them there last Thursday, he did place himself near Nevaeh long enough to tell her that hers did not have fangs, so she was safe to touch hers if she liked. He also doubled checked that the pot with her name on it was still correctly placed behind the braille label on the shelf with her name on it, and it hadn't grown fangs since earlier that morning when he'd checked the progress of all of the plants.

OOC: Assume your character knows they are expected to bring their plant back to the main work tables in the center to handle its maintenance care where there is more room and available watering cans. You can safely assume you've been growing this same plant for a few weeks, having start it from a seed. Also, Nathan's keeping an eye on you folks with fanged plants, and will call out a warning if it looks like you're doing something dangerous with it. Enjoy!

My bite is worse than yours by Jax Donovan (Aladren)

Jax was still on the fence as to whether or not Herbology will be a class he will continue his lessons on once he got passed the CATS level with them (starting late with them really threw off his schedule for the following year) because he wasn't really sure what options he would have for a career once he left Sonora. There wasn't really a big market out there of companies willing to hire a werewolf, especially since he would require time off every month. His best option would be to work for himself but he had no idea on what such a career would be.

Even so, he would likely continue on with Herbology because he would need to understand the plants in which he would need to harvest to make his own Wolfsbane. He was already working on creating the potion himself but there were specific plants that were a bit tricky to get due to when they had to be picked. If he managed to have his own little greenhouse later in life, he wouldn't have to spend the money purchasing these ingredients or having g the potion made for him. He could just do it all himself and save a lot of money. He knew his mother spent quite a bit of money keeping his supply up and he always felt guilty over it.

Jax thanked Professor Xavier as he was given his essay back and made his way to a corner seat. Jax was not a very social person by nature, so he tried to find seats that only had one neighbor instead of two (or more depending on the seating arrangement). Thankfully, the first part of their lesson was mostly independent work. Getting up from his spot and working his way through the other students to his spot on the shelf.

Looking over his plant, he found that his was budding but hadn't fully bloomed just yet. He sat for a bit and observed his plant silently, comparing the plant to his previously written notes on it to determine all of the differences between the past and the current plant. He had just started to write out the differences in his notebook when the person beside him started to address him. Jax mentally sighed and turned his steely eyes onto his neighbor. "Sorry, I didn't catch what you said." He commented, his voice more welcoming than his eyes portrayed.
