Lesson One - Third Years by Drake O'Leary

The room was dimly lit by a few floating candles along the walls, which gave it an eerie feeling, a sense of doom. A quite accurate description for his persona. He was hidden near one of the walls, nearly blending in - his red hair the only betrayal. They filed in, laughing and chatting quite merrily, unaware of his presence. Once the students were all seated, he came out of the shadows with a flourish, his robes flaring, giving him the appearance of an unearthly demon. Quite a few of them gave startled gasps. He allowed a small smirk to play on his face, careful to hide it. His goal was accomplished. He had gotten their attention, now to play upon it.

"I have the unfortunate task of having you after your young mind has been shaped by...others," he said with distaste, sure that they have not learned nearly as much as they should have by now. "We will have much to catch up on to bring you where you should be, but first the rules."

Yes, the tiresome speech about the rules. The first couple times had been amusing, but now it was wearing on him, but yet he had to lay it down for them and do it well, or else they would try to ride all over him.

"First, and foremost, my name is Drake O'Leary, but you will address me as Professor O'Leary or Sir. Never, and I repeat, never anything other than these. Second, there will be no talking in my classroom, unless I give you permission to," his eyes glanced around the room, resting on those that were still talking, making a mental note to use them for his demonstration. "Take out your books and turn to page 930."

Page 930 contained an eerie interpretation of a full moon. While the students' attention was focused on the picture, he crossed the room with a looming presence disappearing into the shadows, allowing the students to look around in bewilderment. He came behind one of the students that had been talking. With expert stealth, he was next to their ear in a blink of an eye and remarked, "You are on the wrong page."

The student gave a very satisfying yelp. Quickly, he was back in the front of the room before the student had collected himself.

"Today's lesson will be focused on vampires and werewolves. The recent demostration shows just how easy it is for a vampire to sneak up on a person. You need to have your wits about you and have the knowledge to know how to defend yourself," his eyes scanning the room, making sure they were ready to take notes. "One lore states taht vampires and werewolves are the moon's children, but the mother favors the werewolf. She does this by allowing him to transform at will. He is allowed to walk among humans in broad daylight. He is also able to eat freely, and is not reliant on blood, like the vampire."

His dark eyes peered around the room, "Now, we know that wizards that are also werewolves are unable to transform at will, however, with every lore, there is a bit of truth behind it. We are going to go around the room. I want to hear some of the tales that you know and a spell or two for protection. We will be practicing these spells next lesson."

He towered over the student nearest to him, "We will begin with you."\n\n

Did the knife-wielding maniac get Zephyrflame? by Stephen Baxter

OOC: Yo Prof, might want to go easy on describing the students and their actions. Some of do our own thing, which doesn't go with the actions you perscribe. That whole 'not writing for other people's characters' rule applies to everyone, not just us students. BIC:

Stephen came into the classroom looking Ty's way in consternation. She was still friendly enough, yes, but she never seemed to be around much outside of classes. It was quite sad really. He'd quite liked her. They'd still be friends of course, because she was a nice girl, and she took one hell of a photograph, but maybe it was time to look elsewhere for a girlfriend. He sighed heavily, and then found himself a seat with a good view of everything. Zephyrflame was gone, he knew. There was some new guy who the firsties had been talking about in whispers. Stephen hadn't paid a great deal of attention to them, but as he looked around the classroom, if occured to him that it might have been a good idea.

But too late for what if's. Professor Drake made a starting 'entrance' if entrance was indeed the word, considering he was in the classroom all along. The flaring of the robes, the way he just appeared out of the shadows...

Stephen jumped to his feet, starting a round of applause and wanting to congratulate the new guy. That had been seriously impressive. Very cool indeed. And the professor knew it too, the smirk that was quickly pushed off his face proved it. This was definitely going to be a good class.

Of course, before he could congratulate the Professor, he had already started talking, and Stephen immediately stopped clapping and retook his seat in order to pay proper attention. Of course, this was when the professor proved his previous coolness to be something else. Rules. Stephen sighed again, heavily. Rules this, rules that... why were so many of the professors so keen on rules? They just made things boring.

Slowly, he pulled his book out of his bag, turning to the right page, and finally brightening up again as he looked at the picture and turned to the next page to get confirmation of his guess. Alright! Vampires and Werewolves. This would be cool. At least - he looked up again and noticed that the professor had disappeared again - it could be cool if the Prof ... hey, his name was Drake, right? That was like... Dragon. Their professor's name was Dragon. That was cool.

The professor appearing again appeared in the corner of Stephen's eye, and he turned, watching the Professor finish with the poor kid he'd decided to pick on and head back up the front. The first couple of sentences got through, but after that a startling thought occured to Stephen, and he started to look at the professor closely after taking another quick glance around the room. So closely in fact, that he didn't even realise that Professor O'Leary had come right up to him and was asking a question for a couple of seconds.

"No sunlight," he remarked, still speculatively looking at the Professor. It was strange, everyone always seemed to think that Professor Dione was the Vampire. "And that demonstration. Does that mean you're a vampire, Prof?"\n\n

Clarification by Drake O'Leary

Sorry about that - professors make mistakes too. I was trying to stay general, to not write for anyone else that I went a bit too general. Mainly, take the students as most students. I want everyone to write their own actions - what their characters would do and such. Have fun!\n\n
