Tally and Jake

Tally, who was sitting in the back of the row, was looking out the window as the Professor was explaining the days lesson. She could hear him, but wasn't really containing any of the information.

Defense Against the Dark Arts was not her favorite subject. Mainly because her Father and Brother, being Aurors, were constantly talking about it. She knew the spells and wand movements to be difficult and preferred not to make a fool of herself.

She jumped when someone tapped her on her shoulder. She looked up and straight into the eyes of Jake Santoro, a fellow Teppenpaw. He was watching her with a smile on his face.

"Hey, want to work together?" Tally looked around and noticed that some students were paired and some were working with Dummies.

"I guess so." She stood and walked to the center of the room where the rest of the class was gathered. She was watching the wand movements the other students were doing while whispering the spell under her breath.

"ready?" Jake asked. Tally nodded. "FLIPPENDO TALLY!" Jake cried. Tally watched the spell fly from his wand, it shot at her so fast that she didn't have time to react. Luckily it only knocked her on her butt and didn't leave any permanent damages. She saw Jake laughing.

"What? You didn't even do it right!" She said angrily.

"So, did you see your face?" He continued to laugh. "Your turn." Tally closed her eyes and relaxed her breathing. When she opened them she noticed that most of the students were already getting a hang of the spell. She planted her feet firmly to the ground and raised her wand.

"FLIPPENDO JAKE!" She cried, but she only succeeded as far as Jake had. She frowned and cursed to herself. Jake quickly shot the spell back at her, only she was ready and threw up a protective shield. The spell bounced off of it. She was grateful to her dad for teaching her that.

"Hey! That's not fair!" Jake cried out. Tally shrugged her shoulders at him and returned the spell his way. Their practice continued like this until, finally, Tally was able to curse him into the pile of cushions stationed a few feet behind them. Shortly after this, Jake succeeded too and they moved on to the more difficult spell.\n\n

Tally turned to her Professor, surprised to be singled out. She looked down at her wand, frowning slightly in concentration. She had had that spell drilled into her since she was old enough to speak. Her dad had always been a bit overprotected of her. When she was younger he gave her a fake wand to practice with, now the movements became second nature.

She closed her eyes to imagine someone throwing a curse her way. She raised her wand and quickly waved it in a circular motion while saying the incantation, "Protego!" she opened her eyes and smiled. She had used the shield charm properly. she turned back to her professor,

"The shield charm incantation is 'Protego' and the wand movements are in a circular motion counter-clockwise." She said with a small nervous smile.\n\n
