Professor Aaron McKindy

Humming to himself, Aaron McKindy set out snacks on top of the bookshelves at the back of the room. It was far enough into the school year that he’d thought it was a good time to have the first meeting of Charms Club, and the Italian always provided snacks for the kids who came. There was a large pitcher of fizzy pumpkin juice and disposible cups on one end of the shelves and a wastebasket to their immediate right on the floor. Aaron had also laid out a bowl of pretzels he had Charmed to twist to and fro once picked up. Some of them had the tendency to wrap themselves around the fingers of the people trying to eat them, but the Charms professor supposed he couldn’t begrudge them their survival instinct. There was also a platter of his traditional cookies, shaped like iguanas and covered in appropriately green sprinkles, with candied eyes that rolled to and fro and occasionally winked.

The club was supposed to be fun and useful, the tips and tricks about Charms that weren’t necessarily taught in the classroom. At the same time, Aaron always struggled to make sure that the Club didn’t turn out like a lesson. He knew that his kids weren’t especially fond of lectures, which was why he did his best to make his lessons fun. On the other hand, that left him with a bit of a quandry about Charms Club. How was he supposed to handle teaching Charms and not making it out to be a lesson? He had solved that little problem with a few pieces of parchment, some ink, and a set of handy copying charms.

The handouts laid on his desk in the front of the classroom. Each had the name of a spell clearly written in different coloured ink at the top of the page, and detailed instructions as to how to perform it listed below. Aaron had provided a plethora of instruction sheets. This way, the students could choose which Charms they wanted to work on—or just sit back and relax—but he would still be available to help them if they needed it. The best of both worlds, in his opinion. He was fond of almost all of his students and much preferred spending a Saturday afternoon with them than avoiding his colleagues elsewhere, or worrying about Sadi.

A few old members walked in first, and Aaron greeted them with a smile, chatting with a few of them as he usually did. At six-foot-flat with a tophat made of gigantic pink bubbles (actually Trasnfigured and Charmed frogs) that extended his height a solid eight inches and a beat-up Muggle t-shirt for some Broadway show or other that he may or may not have—ahem—borrowed from his husband, Aaron certainly made an odd sight for those who weren’t familiar with him. On the other hand, in the past, he had gotten along exceedingly well with his students. Their test grades were very good as well, so apparently he was doing his job.

“Okay guys,” Aaron said, clapping his hands together once it appeared as though everyone who was coming was there. They could let the stragglers know what was up, anyway, if there were any. “Welcome to the first Charms Club meeting of the year! Basically, this is a club for people who just want to learn more charms. I’m not teaching you, but I’m here to help. There are snacks in the back, please help yourselves to as many as you’d like. Today I’ve done up some handouts—they’re up here,” Aaron waved to the double row of handouts on his desk, to the left of where he was currently leaning, “about Charms that will help you study. I know, I know, boring. We’ll do some more fun stuff as the year goes on, but I know that some of you have big tests coming up this year that you’ll need to study for, and these charms will help! They’re pretty simple, even first years should be able to execute them, but if you need help just call me over. I’ll be around.” With a grin, Aaron hopped off the raised dais his desk was on and went to the back to grab one of the twisting pretzels. He successfully ate it before it had a chance to wrap itself around him, then he grinned and went back to watching the assembled students, making sure they were settling in all right and didn’t require assistance yet.

|OOC| Ten sentences, etc, etc, please follow site rules, all that jazz. Tag Aaron if you need help, or if your character just wants to chat with him (that’s fine too) and have fun! The charms are things like, magical stickynotes, highlighting, etc. Use your imagination—there are about twenty different spells up there for your character to have fun with.
