We'll be having some sort of match/event during this half of term. Quidditch as previously written was found to be time consuming and confusing, so we're trying to think of ways to change this up. We'd like the opinions of you guys about what you'd like to post in:

- Fast and Furious Style Quidditch
This would follow other 'fast and furious' event styles where word counts would be lifted.

- Social/outing
We've been talking about the team going off campus to play local matches. Would you prefer to have one of these posted? This would involve less actual game play (as we don't have an opposing team to write against) but could be pre or post match and a chance for more social posting.

Our full suggestions on how to rework Quidditch in the long run can be found here.

Please weigh in if you have any other ideas.

This post is mostly directed at players, but if the old format of Quidditch has put you off playing and you would be involved if it was different, feel free to weigh in.

I like the idea of the more social side of things, but that's also coming from someone who doesn't necessarily have anyone on the team. (I'm not sure who's on the team this year??). If non-players can have social posts regardless, then I don't know that my opinion means a lot there. I'd definitely be more likely to have my students go out for Quidditch and be more active in the future if it was social focused.

Fast and the furious could go really well, I think, and be a lot of fun, OR be really confusing. I wonder whether we could host Quidditch matches in Chatzy? So it's still in order and easy to see, but a bit quicker paced? That may take some finagling and/or require a separate room. I know that switching between characters quickly can be difficult, so it may be easier in that case to mark each post as you post it in that case. I don't know!

Thanks for all you work.

In terms of who is on the team, last year we had an "IC offical first string" (i.e. those who would play matches on the school's behalf) but we set up Quidditch posting so that anyone with an interest could participate. I assume we'd do something similar with whatever we post this year - the main purpose is to give those who want to a chance to do so.

In terms of social, Quidditch players would always be welcome to write post-training things, e.g. in the locker room without any site input, if they want a chance to know their teammates better. I admit that a roster so you know who is who on the team would help so I'll make sure that gets done.

I think if doing F&F, it might be better to have it on a site board - it just keeps everything in the same place and means there's a record of the match. Stuff gets pushed out of chatzy or unused rooms expire, so it might be a risk to use that even with a separate room.

Below is listed how the positions would have been assigned for the whole school team. This is primarily based on IC reasons to give the school the strongest team possible. I have only used OOC factors where there was not a clear cut IC reason. I have also tried to maximise the opportunities for people to claim involvement and say their character is getting chances to develop.

There will also be a separate list with the combinations for in school matches, which will be based on a combination of IC ability, and OOC contributions in order to try to yield balanced teams.

Chasers:
Lily - Captain
Parker
Heinrich*
(*alternates for some matches - I figured that Malikhi, Beatriz and Heinrich, would have similar levels of ability. I have therefore used OOC activity, and the fact that Heinrich made it to tryouts as a tie breaker. However, for character development, Beatriz and Malikhi would be welcome to say they were subbed in for some away matches).

Beaters:
Simon Mordue
Hilda Hexenmeister*
(*as above. Luke has physical size on his side but is an inexperienced player. Hilda has experience in the position but is smaller, but OOC posted at tryouts. Luke can be subbed in for some matches for character development. JD and Ness would not play Beater in away matches but would be given the chance to develop their skills during training).

Keeper:
Alternates between all who tried out (Jozua, Isaac, Nathaniel)
(Jozua and Isaac both credited for posted at try outs, but IC Nathaniel is likely to be the better player)

Seeker:
Winston Pierce
(Evelyn and Jeremy are given opportunities to develop their skills during training sessions).

Helper:

The teams for the FnF match will be as follows. These have been determined based on IC balance (experienced/inexperienced players) and OOC balance (more/less active authors) to try to create fair teams. There are more players than spots, so two players are sitting this one out, and have been chosen based on having other characters within the match.

Team A - Orange
Chasers
Lily
Heinrich
Beatriz

Beaters
Hilda
JD

Keeper
Nathaniel

Seeker
Evelyn

Team B - Green
Parker
Malikhi
Ness

Beaters
Simon
Luke

Keeper
Isaac

Seeker
Winston

Benched:
Jozua
Jeremy
