Morning reading by Bianca Stratford

Bianca wasn’t doing so well at school. She still needed to make more friends to feel a little bit at ease. After three years, the shy girl spent most of her time hiding out in the Library trying to make time pass faster for her. It wasn’t that she disliked Amity and Clarissa, but she just wasn’t very comfortable around her. Her parents chastised her every summer about her lack of friends and social life, but she preferred to live in her books. Her stories had all kinds of marvelous things that real life lacked. It wasn’t her fault real life was boring. The upper side was that her grades were perfect. She spent so much time studying and perfecting what she learned in class that her teachers couldn’t say anything negative about her performance. Bianca Frieda Stratford was the perfect student in all aspects. She was studious, courteous and respectful of her peers.

The little Aladren entered the Cascade Hall at an odd hour for her for the first time she had overslept and was late for her usual breakfast time. She always tried to come in during times were there weren’t too many students eating. It was better that way, but today she had to suck it up if she didn’t want to be late for class. She could do it. She could eat in peace without the rest of the world bothering her while she ate and did some light reading.

Her eyes scanned the room and found a table that was unoccupied and as she was walking towards it her eyes were glued to the floor. Eye contact was a path to awkward situations. The brunette sat down carefully and opened her book – a very interesting medieval novel about a witch looking for the fountain of youth! – to where she had left it last night. She smiled to herself as she decided what to have for breakfast. Bianca was craving pancakes and some bacon. Her mother would disapprove, but she wasn’t here to tell her anything. The Aladren was going to enjoy her food. It was her prerogative.

Her food appeared and her smile grew wider. She still had time to enjoy her food and book before the hectic school day started. Bianca began reading and eating at the same time and after a few minutes she was completely immersed in the words. The Aladren was no longer at Sonora; she was with Augusta fighting against all kinds of evil for her quest of eternal youth. It was hard for her to not think what her life would be if she had been right there with her. However, she was brought back when someone sat down at the table she was occupying. Her eyes slowly moved to the person that had popped her bubble, “Hi,” was all she could say.
