Owls to Crosby, Fawcett, and McKindy by Boomer

The very large owl known as Boomer flew into the Cascade Hall bearing three letters fastened to his leg. He sought out each of the Heads of Houses (excepting, of course, his own mistress who had penned them out and was not sending one to herself) and delivered a letter with the same contents to each of them.

Dear Fellow Head of House,

One of my fifth year students recently requested a meeting with me regarding RATS and college options. I have generally made this available to the rest of my fifth and sixth year students as well. In the interest of fairness across the Houses, I thought I should tell you I was doing this in case you want to make similar offers to your own students.

Sincerely,
Coach Amelia Pierce, Crotalus Head of House

PS: I apologize in advance if I inadvertently cause any of my sixth years to add or drop your RATS level course this far into the term.

And an owl in response! by Professor Aaron McKindy

Avoiding his other--preoccupations--of late had become something of an art for Aaron McKindy, so Amelia's owl was something of a welcome distraction. Upon reading the message contained, the dark-haired man had blinked for a moment. He'd never realised that the students didn't really have much in the way of resources for college options and RATs advice if they weren't from magical families. Not having attended college in the states and coming from a well-established family of (mostly) Italian purebloods, Aaron had never experienced the need for that sort of thing. Then again, if someone had advised him of his career options outside of 'joining the family business', he might have spent less time trying to muddle about in the Muggle world before finally realising that there were other options.

After scrambling to uncover a blank piece of parchment and a quill from his project-strewn desk, Aaron quickly penned a response to the Coach. He also had something else he'd been wanting to ask her since Garen had brought it up during RMI's tumultuous last term.

Amelia,

Thanks for the idea! I'm sure my bunch will appreciate it--I get the feeling that some of them have just as little of an idea of what they'll be doing once they graduate as I did. Do you have any literature that you're distributing at the meetings (college pamphlets or the like) or is it not quite so formal?

On a different topic, I was wondering if there was a time that I could meet with you myself in regards to the nonprofit DISCUSS. If you would be amenable to that, please let me know when would be convenient.

Sincerely,
Professor Aaron McKindy

And another one! by Amelia Pierce

Upon receipt of Aaron's reply, Amelia immediately dug about for another piece of parchment to respond upon. Unsurprisingly, she found one in the drawer dedicated to holding blank parchment, though the top few sheets had random notes she'd been making about the pitch schedule and the flying lesson's grades and a rough draft of a letter she was sending out to broom manufactures to get some better school brooms for the kids to use.

The current supply was starting to get ragged, and she was sure the broom stock hadn't been updated at least since she started Coaching here, and probably not too recently before that, either. She'd had to throw away a few outright that week, and she'd been spending most of her free time recently doing maintenance work on the rest.

But that was neither here nor there. Currently, her concern was for reply to Aaron. She uncorked her bottle of ink, dipped in her quill, and began to write, using the same level of formality as she had received in his letter to her:

Aaron,

Yes, I expect many of my Crotali are equally blind to their opportunities as I was at that age. I do not have any formal materials I plan to hand out, but I can provide a list of some of the books I looked up to find some information for the meetings (see reverse side).

Before she forgot to do so, she turned the paper over and listed out - to the best of her memory - the titles and authors she'd referenced. The Magical Careers section was not very big in their library, so even if she missed some, it would put him in the right area. Once she completed that reference guide, she turned the paper back to the front and continued:

I'd be glad to meet with you about DISCUSS. I imagine your schedule is more confining than mine, though I like to be near at hand during Quidditch practices in case there is an injury. As long as its not during Flying Lessons, I'm pretty much completely free during the school day, if you have time then. Otherwise, you could just swing by my office near the Pitch any evening or during the weekend whenever is good for you. I have a couple of career meetings coming up, too, but they shouldn't last long and can easily be worked around.

Sincerely,
Coach Amelia Pierce
Crotalus Head of House

As she signed her name, it struck her as entertaining that Pecari was headed by a Professor, and Crotalus was headed by a Coach, as much because of the irony as by the alliteration.
