This-a-way, young Pecaris and Transfers! by Professor Aaron McKindy

The Feast seemed to be more-or-less over, and Amy and Aaron both had their respective Houses to attend to. Aaron had a bit more to think about—he really didn’t know much about his colleagues, he supposed, much less that Amy was in a way related to DISCUSS. Between that and Cooper...the Charms professor let out a frustrated sigh as he moved towards the front of the Hall, but quickly put aside his private concerns for his official duties. Last year he had realised his simple speaking voice wasn’t nearly loud enough to be heard over this sort of chaos, so he uttered a quick Sonorus and began speaking. Since the volume seemed sufficiently loud enough for the first years to hear him, Aaron didn’t bother to adjust the charm.

“Pecari first years and transfers! Pecari first years and transfers, over here!” Aaron announced as a group of eleven-year-olds and a pair of older students (the transfers) began to cluster around him. Some were still bearing faint tinges of brown from their Sorting, began to gather around him. Aaron was amused; he felt very much the mother duck again. Once it looked like all of the new Pecaris (and some older ones who had decided to tag along for the ride) had assembled around him, Aaron withdrew his wand once again and made a small modification to the charm he had placed on his voice. Now, although louder than normal, it was no longer the deafening level he had needed to reach all corners of the Cascade Hall.

“Welcome to Sonora!” the tall, grey-green eyed man said with an equally welcoming grin. “My name is Professor McKindy, and I’m your Head of House. If you have any questions or concerns, you can ask me—I’m not that scary, trust me, I teach Charms—or your Prefects, Irene Liddowe and Holly Greer.” Aaron gestured at each of the girls in turn. Each of the girls was very responsible, and he knew that they would be helpful if any of the new students needed help.

“All right, let’s wait until we get out of here to go over questions,” Aaron said. It was still too loud for him to be confident that he could hear any of the new students if they started talking. “So everybody follow me!”
