Lesson 2 for Advanced Care of Magical Creatures by Professor Kijewski

Kiva stood in front of the points’ locator and portrait that was the entrance to the Mirage Chamber. She could hear the occupant of the portrait mumbling, but she ignored his comments. She had been at this school for nine years and had long ago been a student here as well. It was hard to believe that she had spent a good 90 percent of her life in the halls of this building. She only had seven years in which she had been on her own, traveling the world. Despite having spent so much of her life here, she was more than ready to take the next step in her life.

“Good afternoon everyone.” Kiva greeted her older students. As usual, they would be spending their afternoon lesson in the Mirage Chamber. The chamber allowed them the ability to study the dangerous creatures without actually being put into danger. “Before we actually begin our lesson today, I have an announcement to make to all of you.” Kiva waited to be sure they were paying attention to her. Although she wasn’t exactly happy with how few of students actually continued with her lessons, the size made things more intimate and easier to teach a lesson. “At the end of this term, I will be leaving Sonora indefinitely in order to pursue other careers regarding creatures.

“As much as I absolutely love teaching, I have decided that it’s time to move on and discover new things that the world has to offer.” Kiva didn’t expect any sort of reaction from the students. She could remember when she was their age and Professors came and left, only a rare few ever really made an impression. But, she felt that her students deserved to know that she would not be returning as staff next term.

“Alright, let’s start the lesson. Everyone, go ahead and lead the way into the Chamber."
