Crotalus First Years! by Professor O'Leary
Last year, at this time, Drake’s previous routine had been interrupted by becoming Pecari’s Head of House and having to lead the new Pecari first years there. Now, it was being altered once again as he was no longer their Head of House, but had been transferred to Crotalus. Part of it was because they needed a new one since Sadi had become the new Headmistress. The other part had to do with reasons unknown to him to which Professor Baer was to become the new Pecari Head of House. Whatever the reason, though, what was done was done and he still had a duty to perform.When the time came, he called out to the group that was sure to be different from the Pecaris, “Crotalus first years, this way please. Crotalus first years to me.” Changing Houses could be a good thing. They were sure to be more well-behaved. In the time that he had been here, which was since his daughter was a first year, so quite a bit of time, he had never known Crotalus to really house troublemakers, which was a plus. The other positive was that for some reason he got the impression of a strong sense of self-preservation from them. His biggest worry were always the Teppenpaws. Too nice for their own good sometimes.
Once they were all gathered, he did a quick head count to confirm that they were all there. It wouldn’t do to lose one on the first day of school. “Welcome to Sonora. I’m your Head of House, Professor O’Leary.” He left off the rest of his professor duties for they would find out soon enough. Besides, he didn’t need to invoke fear in them quite yet, which even the title of his class seemed to do for some. “Follow me and do not stray. I’ll be taking you to your House.” With this, he turned on his heel to walk out of the Hall with the assumption they would follow.
