Teppenpaws- let's go! by Professor Henry Flatt

Earlier that day, when Henry Flatt had scrutinized himself in the mirror, he'd felt a calming reassurance fall over him. Despite the circumstances of his appointment, the probable lack of trust from the other staff members, and the unavoidable rumors to be shared by the older students, he had felt a certain comfort in knowing his position. History of Magic was a subject he enjoyed- and studied- for nearly a third of his life. He was head of his former House, Teppenpaw, and he was already familiar with all the students above their second year. There was nothing, he had told himself then, to be nervous about.

A mental psyche-up before an important event is one thing; actually experiencing it was another. By the time, the Opening Feast was nearing its close, he'd only managed to take two bites of his meal, exchange a brief greeting with the new Guidance Counselor- something he regretted not being able to extend; Stella was perhaps the only staff member to not consider him anathema at the present- and gulp down a cup of lukewarm coffee. Between leading the first years into the Cascade Hall and then presenting them with the sorting potion, Henry had been able to shrink behind a friendly smile. Once that purpose ended, his nerves attacked, and he could only wish for the day to speed up so he could escape to his quarters and breath.

Before that, though, he needed to take charge of his first years. Straightening his tie, Henry rose from his seat behind the staff table and approached the cluster of Teppenpaw first years. "Teppenpaw first years, if you'll follow me?"

He waited until the group had gathered their various belongings and then did a quick headcount. One missing; he scanned the room briefly before finding the errant first year, sitting at the Pecari table. "Miss Zannicci, if you'll join us?"

Once she joined the gaggle, Henry turned and led them out from the Cascade Hall.
