So this is her home for a few months by Rachel Tibbs

Rachel walked into her new dorm only to be greeted by the colour blue and comfy seats. She dropped into one of them with a sigh of relief.

Rachel flicked her fawn hair over the back of the seat thinking where are the others? Never had she thought she would have time to read her favourite book: Quidditch through the ages. Opening it she started to read.

Should we hang a sign on the dorm wall? by Anne Wright

Anne walked into the Aladren first year girl's dorm feeling happier than she had in months. She was away from Charleston and all its memories, she was away from her St. Martin relatives and all their pureblood mania, she was at Sonora and in the House where her parents had met and fell in love, and she had carried on an entire conversation during dinner without making a complete fool out of herself. As far as Anne Wright was concerned, the world was good today.

Her energetic, slightly flamboyant walk into the dorm was halted by the sight of another girl sitting around and reading a book. Embarrassed, Anne finished her entrance in a more subdued fashion and decided not to bother the other girl. She knew how cranky she was when someone interrupted her from a good read. Instead, she pulled a book of her own out of her trunk and began to read as well, a friendly greeting on the tip of her tongue if her companion noticed her and spoke.\n\n

What sort of sign? by Izabella Santoro

Bella walked into the girls' dorm lost in her own thoughts. Her black eyes were watching the floor as she went. Her hair fell forward, blocking her surrounding from her view.

She placed her bag on the bed where her trunk sat waiting for her at the end of. And began riffling through everything. She turned from her bed to place things into their rightful places, it was then that she noticed the two other girls. A blushed crept into her tanned cheeks and she stood there awkwardly for a moment.

The two girls were reading books and Bella felt as though she had just interupted them rather rudely, "Oh s-sorry. I-I didn't m-mean to bother you." Bella stuttered, "I'll just leave you alone." She placed her things back on her bed and turned to leave the room.\n\n

One of those little 'home-sweet-home' ones by Anne

Anne laid aside her book on the rise and fall of the Colleon family when another girl spoke. It wasn't the other reader, but a new girl that Anne didn't think she had met. When the other girl turned to go, Anne spoke up.

"Don't worry about it," she said. "Stay if you want. I'm Anne Wright. What's your name?" The old fear that she had said something wrong to the new girl, or that she was going to offend the girl who had beaten her to the dorm, but her success at the feast had emboldened her. She had navigated her way through the dangerous waters of meeting and speaking with someone else once, so it was only logical that she could do it again. \n\n

oh, that would be nice... by Izabella

Bella stopped half-way to the door. So she was wanted here after all. She wasn't getting in anyone's way. And she wasn't bothering anyone.

"Izabella Santoro, but everyone calls me Bella." She introduced herself. "It's nice to meet you Anne." Bella turned back around and headed over to her things. She began the process of putting everything away. A slow process, but a necessary one.

"Is anyone worried about the classes tomorrow? Or are you guys just excited?" Bella asked, trying her best to make small talk.\n\n

It can have a picture of a nesting hawk for the House symbol by Anne

"Nice to meet you too, Bella," Anne said, glancing at the reading girl and wondering if she was so deep in her book that she didn't know there were other people in the room. She hadn't made any objection to Anne and Bella talking, though, so Anne could only guess that it didn't bother her.

She tugged on a lock of her hair in a quick, habitual gesture when Bella mentioned classes. She had always been intelligent, but she couldn't get rid of the feeling that learning magic was going to be a lot different than learning history and stuff. "I'm sort of worried about Care of Magical Creatures," she said after some thought. "Transfiguration's supposed to be a tough one, too. I'm mostly excited though, especially if any of our classes involve flying. You?"\n\n

we would give ourselves our own reputation. by Bella

"You're worried about Care of Magical Creatures? I would have thought that to be the easiest..." Bella said without much thought to her words, "Oh, I'm sorry, that probably came out rude. What I meant was, compared to Potions or Transfiguration, Care of Magical Creatures seems like a breeze. Or at least it does to me." Oh no, I'm rambling. Why do I always have to ramble? Can't I just be a sly talker like Jake or have no worries like Adam? I'm such a doofus! Bella thought as she lightly bit down on her lower lip.

She turned her dark eyes on the other girl and watched her for a moment. What Jake said was true, Aladrens really are bookworms. This thought brought a small smile to her face. Her brother was a lot of things, but he was also very observant and considerate of others. What he says can always be counted on as the truth.

"Do you think you'll make lots of friends here?"\n\n

We'll probably end up doing that anyway by Anne

Anne wasn't offended by Bella's statement, though she knew some people would have been. It was true, though it did bring up one of Anne's more embarrassing phobias. "It's all right, you make sense. I'm just-er-afraid of most animals bigger than cats. I can deal with some dogs, but nothing bigger than a lab there." She thought it was best not to tell the story of how she had become afraid of animals.

"Friends?" Anne had to think about that one for a minute. She liked Bella already; the other girl made her have to think. "It depends on how people here think," she finally said honestly. "People either like me or they hate me and I usually don't know why. Do you think you'll make friends easily?" She glanced again at the other girl. "Speaking of friends, do you think she knows we're here? I've been so deep into a book before that I didn't hear a phone ring right next to me, so it does happen."\n\n

That's true by Bella

Bella smiled as Anne realized her fear of animals. She had never met anyone afraid of animals before. Jake had a pet mouse named Mickey, and Bella had an owl named Aussie, who was currently residing in the Owlry. But, she had never given creatures much thought other than her own.

"I'm afraid of nymths. They can be quite hostile if you aren't careful." Bella said in a serious tone, though her playful smile (one identical to her brother's) told anyone looking at her that even though it was true, she wasn't very serious about it.

"Well, Jake goes here already, so that's good. And Adam is in Pecari, but he's here too, which is also good. Other than them, I've only met Liz who's one of Jake's friends and a second year. You are the first person I've met in our year." Bella told Anne. She laid her eyes on the other girl in her room and watched her for a moment.

"It's probably best not to bother her. I always hate it when I get interrupted while reading a good book." Bella told the other girl. \n\n

Now we just have to make sure it's a good reputation... by Anne

"I'll try to always be careful, then," Anne said, trying not to shiver. "I don't mind hawks and owls, for some reason, but pretty much all other animals freak me out. It's one of those really annoying phobias that irritates me and everyone else, too."

"I sort of know two other people in our year. I talked to a guy named Ben Stafford during the Feast, and I have a cousin who started here this year. She's in Crotalus and we've never met.I'm not sure which one she is." That was true enough. She had only ever met one of her non-St. Martin cousins, and that one wouldn't be at Sonora for another year.

"You're probably right," she said in answer to Bella's assessment of their roomate. "I've been known to snap people's heads off when they get me out of a good read." \n\n

you mean, other than Bookworms? by Bella

Bella smiled politely as Anne explained her phobia of animals to her. Bella, herself, couldn't really think of any phobia that she particularly had. She never liked being in the dark unless she was sleeping and sometimes she would have panic attacks if she was ever left somewhere or lost and alone. But she figured those were the sort of things that everyone went though and decided not to voice them.

"You have a cousin you've never met?" Bella asked with curiosity. She knew all of her cousins, and she meant all of them. And there were a lot...on both sides of the family. Her family had many traditions and having regular family fiestas or gatherings was at the top of the traditions list. They would usually travel to their grandparents hideaway house in Mexico for the fiestas, but sometimes they went to Spain or somewhere in America if another family wanted to have it at their place of residents. It was something she had always assumed every family always did.

"That's strange, but maybe you'll get to see her around or something? Might even be a good thing." Bella said helpfully. She giggled when Anne joked about her habits when reading a book, "I grew up in such a large family that there is never any silence, so I've learned to block out noises. Of course, now you can't ever get me to stop reading unless you physically shake me." Bella said, still giggling.\n\n

Maybe, just to shake things up a little bit. lol. by Anne

OOC:No,I'm not dead, I've just been running ninety miles an hour lately!

"If I listed all the cousins I have I don't know about, I'd probably be related to half of Sonora," Anne said matter-of-factly, shrugging. "My daddy's from California and Mama's from South Carolina and connected to everyone in the South, one way or another. We just haven't had much contact with anyone until this year. There was...a quarrel."

If Cousin Morgaine was to be believed, meeting up with her mother's niece would hardly be a good thing, but Anne knew that there was a good chance that Morgaine, being one of her cousins, was just trying to scare her. Still, she didn't think it would be wisest to try to approach Cousin Gwenhwyfar independantly. Let the family spy come to her. "Maybe," she said. She laughed with Bella, dismissing the matter from her mind. "I'm an only child," she said. "I can block noise, but not if someone's actually speaking to me. Then I wake up, as I call it." \n\n

oh company by Rachel Tibbs

Rachel decided ignoring them would not be good, know that she had noticed them at least. She looked up and decided to at least to say hello before she went back to her book. "Sorry, I didn't notice I had company. My names Rachel Tibbs!"

Rachel flicked her fawn hair over her shoulder. "So do you know when we get Quidditch lessons? I'm kind of obsessed with it." She stood wondering if they would answer her. She didn't mind the girl she had met at the sorting assembley, but she didn't know how they would react to her sudden speech, and she hated speeches.

Rachel then realised that she was bending her book. "Oh no."\n\n

Re: oh company by Anne Wright

Anne's head snapped around when she heard a new voice from behind her. The reading girl had noticed Bella and Anne and was introducing herself.

"Sorry, I didn't notice I had company. My name's Rachel Tibbs!"

"Hi, Rachel," Anne said, brushing her hair out of her eyes for the umpteenth time. "I'm Anne Wright. I don't know when Quidditch class is, but I hope it's soon. I love flying." She smiled. "Do you know, Bella?" she asked, turning slightly so she could include both of her fellow Aladrens in the conversation.

She fumbled for something to say. Conversation had never been one of her strong points, and here she was, trying to talk to complete strangers. She considered it a wonder that she had managed to do more than say her name before being dubbed a wierdo and shunned, but Aladren was supposedly full of other people who most public school jerks would consider wierdos-in other words, people who actually had thought processes. "What's that you're reading?" Anne asked as Rachel exclaimed over her bent book.

Come on with the titles then! by Bella

OOC: Sorry about such a wait, but RL boggled me down and I lost my mojo for writing. BIC:

Bella watched Anne carefully as she spoke of her family. Bella was raised in a large family. An extremely large family. Being number 7 of 10, Bella was used to being lost in a crowd, but her family had always remained loyal. Until John. But that was another story.

When Anne mentioned California, Bella's eyes widened happily. She was from good ol' L.A. Well, not so much good, but she at least knew California. Just before Bella could reply to Anne, another voice filtered into the conversation and Bella jumped startled by it. She had forgotten about the other girl.

Anne took the initiative to talk to Rachel first, even introducing Bella as she did so. Bella smiled and waved at Rachel, but remained quiet. She was wonderful one on one, but nervous and on edge when there was more than one person. At least, until she became accustomed to them. But at the mention of the book, Bella's attention perked up once more, "Oh yes, is it any good? Do tell!"\n\n

Quidditch through the ages by Rachel

Finally someone who likes quidditch. "Nice to meet both of you, it's my favourite book Quidditch through the ages. I've read it so many times. it's so good." Directing a smile at Bella.

Something to talk about um. Maybe they liked animals worth asking at least. "Do you have any pet's because i love animals. I have a horse and two dogs back home. I just wondered?"

Maybe Rachel thought as she flopped right back down onto the couch carefully avoiding her book. Just maybe she had some more friend which was great because she was of course a very social girl and needed a lot of friends. "Friend's?"\n\n

My author just finished rereading that... by Anne Wright

Quidditch Through the Ages. It was one of the few Wizarding books she was really familiar with. Rachel's taste in literature didn't seem to be half bad, and Anne was hardly in a position to judge anyone based on their reading record.

She grimaced faintly at the mention of animals. Rachel really had been tuning out Anne and Bella's whole conversation, it seemed. "I'm terrified of animals," she muttered. "I can handle cats and some dogs, though. Got a dog, Maybelle, at home." She was appalled by her flawed grammar. She had always prided herself on how well she spoke. Why did it have to be here and now that speaking became so difficult?

Rachel's question caught her off-guard. She wasn't used to people just asking 'hey, can we be friends?' out of a clear blue sky. After several surprised blinks, she smiled. "Sure," she said, glad that the subject had changed from animals. Was she the only person at Sonora scared of the things? "We all have to live together for the next seven years, right? Makes it a lot easier for everyone if we're all friends." \n\n

I'll just pretend I got through the introductory... by Bella

Bella smiled at the title Rachel had given them. Yes, she had read that book loads of times. It was one of her favorites as well. "Quidditch is loads of fun. I can't wait for flying lessons and having a go on one of the brooms." She commented before addressing the next question. At the comment on animals, Bella gave a sidelook to Anne. It was funny that they had just been discussing this.

"I have an owl named Aussie, but she won't be bothering us much and she'll stay in the owlry with all the other birds." Bella said, settling down on her bed to watch the other girls. Rachel's question caught Bella off-guard, she hadn't ever had anyone ask her that before. She just stared at her before the giggles erupted from her belly. She wasn't sure why she was laughing, but the question had caused the reaction. Once Bella as under some control of her giggles, she breathed out,

"Friends, sure, that'd be great."\n\n
