A letter to Coach Pierce by Medic Bailey

After thinking it through and talking to Headmistress K about the matter, Dylan sat down on his desk and began scribbling a quick letter to Coach Amelia Pierce. The Headmistress had agreed with him on how Amira couldn’t be allowed to continue playing for a little while. It was too dangerous.

Coach Pierce,
It has come into my attention that Amira Thornton suffered a head injury during the summer. She was unconscious after falling down from her broom and has been suffering from headaches since then. She fainted during the Pecari try-outs.

Flying can become a health hazard for the girl, and I recommend that she isn’t allowed to play for the time being. I already talked with the Headmistress and she agreed on my recommendation for Amira.

If you have any questions feel free to ask them away.
Sincerely,

Medic Dylan Bailey

A little Burrowing specked owl flew around Sonora Academy looking for the addressee of the letter his owner had entrusted him. He had been told that it was a pretty important matter and that he needed to deliver promptly. The owl arrived at the office of Coach Pierce and began to peck her desk to get her attention. Once she got the letter from his leg, he hooted and flew away.

I'm guessing this took place pre-midterm by Coach Amelia Pierce

Amelia had spotted the small owl before he landed, but was trying to finish recording her flying lesson observations before she forgot about somebody, but she stopped when it pecked impatiently at her desk. She offered the bird a treat from the drawer where she kept the ones for Boomer, and detached the letter. "Thank you," she told it. "I'll reply with Boomer if I reply." It seemed to understand - she had gestured toward her own eagle owl sitting on his perch and looking gigantic next to this one, so the little guy must have picked up on the body language if not her words - and departed. Most owls that size didn't tend to like spending too much time in the same room as Boomer anyway.

She read through the missive, then drew out another piece of paper and an envelope. She scrawled a quick message (in as much as anyone raised to be a New Hampshire Pierce could scrawl - it was a very neat scrawl) to the Pecari captain.

Captain Hernandez,

I have recently received a notice that Amira Thornton has been medically barred from participation in Quidditch for the time being. As your roster has named her your Seeker, please do not allow her to fly in practices or games until Medic Bailey has cleared her for active duty.

Amelia paused slightly after writing that, concerned that it might have sounded a little too military, but then decided that Quidditch at this school was very nearly a war (moreso between Aladren and Crotalus than for Pecari, but the analogy stood) and it was therefore appropriate. She continued:

Please inform me of which alternate you will be playing as Seeker if this does not happen before the first Pecari game.

Sincerely,
Coach Pierce

She used her wand to make a copy of the Medic's letter. She filed the original under 'Quidditch Teams SA14-15' and folded the copy and Jose's letter together, placed them in an envelope which she addressed to the Head Boy, and sent Boomer away with it.

It does seem like something that would have gone out earlier by Amelia Pierce

Less than half an hour after she sent Boomer out, he returned with a letter tied to his leg. She unfastened it, gave Boomer two treats - he was twice the size of the medic's owl - and sliced open the top of the envelope.

Coach Pierce,

I'll keep Amira grounded until told otherwise. I'll be playing Jade Owen as the Pecari Seeker until she's better.
