Feeling like a princess...almost TAG: Adam B by Talitha Cumni

It felt to Talitha as though she’d somehow managed to swallow a dozen snitches and they were flying around in her stomach. It was almost time to meet Adam and she was about as nervous as any one girl could get. Lutece and she had spent most of the day getting ready for the big event and now it was only minutes left before the ball began.

Her mother had sent her the most gorgeous gown. It was strapless and ankle length. The skirt was full and shimmered as she twirled. The simple bodice, while modest, complimented her figure that had blossomed over this last year. The rich plum, satiny fabric looked beautiful against her skin.

For the last four weeks, Lutece had drug Talitha out to the gardens and forced her to sunbathe. Talitha thought it was the most pointless, boring activity ever. If it wasn’t that she was determined to win her bet with Oliver and used the time to write, she would have gone mad. The results were worth it. Her deep brown hair was sun streaked with almost blond highlights and her already light brown skin had deepened to a coffee and cream complexion.

Lutece had worked hard and long on Talitha’s curls, practically beating them into submission before piling them on her head in an orderly tumble. She put something sparkly on Talitha’s locks so it looked like there were miniscule stars twinkling out from each. She wore a simple pendent her uncle made for her. From a silver chain dangled a single apache tear about the size of a sickel.

The clear black crystal was for courage. It didn’t seem like its medicine chose to work tonight. Talitha was terrified. She was worried, in spite of the lovely girl that looked back at her every time she glanced in the mirror, that Adam wouldn't like what he saw. She was never one for dressing up, preferring jeans or shorts and a tee shirt. This much finery made her feel rather bedizened. Thanking her creator that she chose matching ballet flats instead of heels, she began her decent from her room to where Adam would be waiting. As nervous as she was, the stairs down to the commons were obstacle enough without combining them with heels, thank you very much.

Gripping the railing tightly, she inched her way, trying to look very graceful and grown up as she made her way down to where Adam was waiting. I hope he likes me. I hope he likes me. Please let him like me! She looked up and gave him a blushing, dimpled smile.

“Hi.” Talitha said shyly.

OOC: You have my permission to goddmod if you wish to “escort” Talitha to Cascade Hall. If not, I’m happy staying here. Just let me know. : )

Does that make me your prince? by Adam B.

Dressing up always made Adam feel a bit silly and a bit more uncomfortable than usual. For the ball, he had selected fairly conservative dress robes that would blend in nicely. He didn't go for flashy for Adam was not a flashy guy. Flashy would stick out and he preferred to avoid that. He couldn't carry it off. Besides, he wouldn't want Talitha to think he looked goofy.

Once Adam managed to convince himself that he didn't look too moronic or too noticeable, he made his way down to the Common Room. He sat sort of stiffly on one of the red couches, rather than plopping down on it and trying to sink into it as usual, so his robes wouldn't become rumpled. (Adam could practically hear a voice that sounded like an odd mixture of his great-grandfather and Chelsea telling him that respectable members of society, such as their family, did not appear dishevled at social events. Never mind that he probably did look so at most other times. One couldn't live with people day in and out and not at sometime look that way.) It was a rather uncomfortable way to sit, but Adam doubted he would have to wait for Talitha for long. She would most likely take care to look good -not that he thought Talitha looked bad normally , Adam tended to prefer the more natural look anyway-because it was that kind of event. It was just that she wasn't well, the Chelsea type, that took forever to get ready or pick out her clothing or anything.

Despite knowing Talitha wasn't like that, Adam couldn't help feeling more and more tense and worried. What if he did something at the ball that would embarass himself, his family and worst of all, Talitha? Granted, Adam probably couldn't do worse than some people had done at the last social gathering he'd been at. Remembering what Talitha had said at the Runes exhibit made Adam feel a bit better as well, but he just couldn't help it.

However, when he saw her, Adam's face lit up. He got off the couch and walked over to his date. "Hi.You look pretty." Adam blurted out, his face coloring instantly. Was he being too forward? Supposedly girls liked to be told that, it was what all his male relatives (whom had more experience) had said. He held his arm out to Talitha and led her out of Crotalus.

OOC- Adam's just leading her out, apparently. You want to post first at the ball?
