Murder in the dark. by Chuck Fintoc

“Avada Kedavra!” he shouted and a flash of light subsequently emitted from the end of his wand.

She fell to the ground.

Chuck stared in horror at the unmoving body, long dark hair sprawled out around her. She was so beautiful...

But dead.

He’d killed her.

“No!” he fell to his knees but a gentle hand touched his shoulder and made him look up from burying his face in his hands.

He looked up into the pretty brunette’s nervous brown eyes for a moment but their intense gaze was broken when his cousin stepped between them.

“Leave her alone,” Daniel was unusually forceful and gruff in the way he spoke.

“I won’t hurt her,” Chuck insisted.

“You will,” Daniel refused to listen, turning and walking away with a protective arm around the girl.

Chuck watched them go before returning his gaze to the exotic beauty before him on the ground. “I’m sorry,” he whispered, reaching out a hand to touch her and leaning forward to be closer but instead of resting on her dead body, his limbs kept on going as though she had disappeared and he very suddenly hit hard solid ground.

The redhead awoke with a jolt and it took him a moment to remember where he was and process the fact that he’d just had the strangest, worst nightmare ever. Chuck usually slept soundly and he had no clue what could have caused his brain to think up such a horrifying sequence of events whilst he was sleeping.

One thing that Chuck knew for sure, however, was that he needed to find Gia. Not to check that she was okay, since believing that there was any element of truth in the dream was ridiculous, but because he couldn’t help feeling like he had to make it up to her for just imagining doing that to her.
