Lucie Dupree, Captain

August 23, 2010 3:10 PM
Having won in the finals last year had been amazing and it had been all thanks to her cousin, Hannah. Unfortunately, she had graduated and that left Lucie in charge of running the team. Though, she had been the Assistant Captain for a while, she hadn’t really done much. It had been more of a name and a bit more helping than anything else. She wasn’t even sure that she was going to be able to be an effective Captain. She wasn’t really the commanding attention type and now she was expected to be. She hoped that she didn’t end up completely failing her predecessor.

Any sign that she could have made wouldn’t have lived up to last year’s so she opted to reuse it with a change of name. She hoped no one would mind especially since she needed to attract more team members. Teppenpaw was always low on players and now they needed to find a new Seeker. At least the position seemed to be one that people sought out. She supposed it was for the glory since the Seeker was the one everyone depended on to catch the game winning snitch.

Carefully, she put the following sign up on the bullentin board:

Tobar

Tobar needed something to cheer him up, and that came in the form of the news that he was to be the Assistant Quidditch Captain. Of course that was great news and it made the gypsy smile all his hard work over the last two years. This made the win from last term that much better. He rubbed his bald head for a moment, well there was one good thing about being in mourning, he wouldn’t have to charm his hair to not blow in the wind this year.

He smiled when he saw Lucie had reused the sign up sheet. He wondered what he would do when he was Captain, next year. Geez he hadn’t realized that he would be the Assistant Captain for only a year before he would become Captain it seemed a bit crazy but he knew he would be a good Captain. He smiled. He grabbed his bag and began to dig around in it until he found his quill. He set his quill to the paper and smiled as he wrote.

Kate Bauer

As far as Kate could tell, her mother's main mission in life was to make life as dull as possible. This meant, of course, that it was her duty in life to find as many ways to subvert or stretch the limits of her mother's orders as she could without actually crossing the thin, invisible line between what would be tolerated from a least-favorite child and what would not.

It had, of course, occurred to her that she might not be the least-favorite child if she ceased looking for the loopholes in every rule her mother laid down, but then she'd turn into Rachel. What was the point of selling her soul when it would get her absolutely nothing that made her happy? There were things in the world more important than being happy, she was sure of that, but she couldn't see that anything her sister had fell into that category.

Prior to Sonora, she had thought there were no loopholes in her mother's policy about sports, which was that the only acceptable one was maybe gymnastics - something that was very much Rachel's thing, and which Kate was terrible at. Other than that, though, they had to restrain any urge toward physical activity they had to sedate walks, private swimming, dancing, and yoga. A little attention to the noticeboard, though, gave her what she thought might be an acceptable out. Her mother thought a lot of herself, there was no doubt about that, but Emily Douglas still was not up to the point of publicly supposing that she was better than the Duprees.

Well, okay. Except maybe the one her mother's brother knew. That, though, was an anomaly, since most Duprees, among other things that one did, did not know Geoff. There were plenty of variants to rock-paper-scissors, but usually, scissors cut paper and rock smashed scissors and paper covered rock.

Truthfully, she knew that pointing out that Lucie Dupree was allowed to do it was not an excuse that would hold much water with the fam when they inevitably found out about this. It might - together with the point being moot by then - keep her from actually getting punished, but she knew she was going to get yelled at a lot. Since that was likely anyway, though, she figured she might as well show some House pride and have some fun while she could before the family minus full-time Bauers found out.

Kirstenna Melcher

August 29, 2010 5:05 PM
Despite her inherent dislike of competition, Kirstenna really had enjoyed playing Quidditch last year. She adored flying, soaring through the air like a trapeze artist, like her mother. Though, technically, Kirstenna wasn't flying, she was hovering in the air around the goals, according to Quentin.

Plus, though Kirstenna preferred to be more modest about her abilities, she was good at being Keeper. She'd blocked both goals against Pecari, and they were like the Vocal Adrenaline of Sonora Quidditch, only Pecaris as a whole mostly weren't evil like Vocal Adrenaline. After all, her best friend was in Pecari.

Besides, it had made her father proud of her. Kirstenna knew he was proud of her in general, but she really liked making him happy. Kirstenna generally did want to do so. She hated seeing people upset.

And her team might be upset if she didn't join. Teppenpaw seemed to have such a hard time gettting people and Kirstenna would hate to let them down.

She signed her name to the list,

Kirstenna Melcher, second year, Keeper

The second year glanced over the rest of it, Tobar had signed up again, and Lucie, of course and one of the first years, but where was Brian's name? Kirstenna hadn't seen him yet this year and this concerned her deeply. If he had decided not to play Quidditch again, she could live with that, though she might wonder if it was because she got the position he wanted last year, but really Kirstenna just wanted her friend.

Arista Rose Thornton

September 07, 2010 11:36 PM
Arista hadn't been at school long, but she knew that every owl she'd sent home to her sisters did them all good. Not just the sister's she'd left at home, but her too. Arista felt awful at how Addi and Amira had cried and held out their arms to her as she left, and the younger girls just looked forlorn and sad. Arista just wanted to go back and hug them all one more time, but her ride would leave without her if she did. So she didn't.

Now, days later, she still felt rotten, and had sent her new snowy white owl home with letters twice a day since she'd gotten to Sonora. The first year couldn't help but feel as if she'd let all of her sisters down by leaving them all behind. Though she knew that Addi would follow her the year after and then similarly Amira the year after Addi, she still felt as if there was a very large peice of herself missing as she wandered around her new school daily.

Arista, normally her families risk taker had been looking for something to do to get her mind off her sisters to no real avail until she walked back into her common room one day to a large red sign. A smile creeped up her face and her eyes glittered with want and need for adrenaline. "Quidditch sign ups!!" Arista shouted merrily as she quickly scanned the page for any rules about first years joining the house teams. She didn't see anything about that, and then glanced down the short list of signups and saw another first year on it. 'I guess it's okay then?' she thought to herself as she pulled out a quill.

Arista Rose Thornton, first year, seeker/chaser she wrote on the paper before she put her quill away once more.

'FINALLY! Something to DO around here!' she thought to herself as she walked away, set and intent to write to her sisters about having signed up for Quidditch.
