Kaylie Brockert

Sick (pre-Quidditch game, tag Jake?) by Kaylie Brockert

Kaylie woke up the morning of the Teppenpaw game, shivering and drenched in sweat. Her throat was on fire and her whole body ached. She coughed and moaned, it hurt really bad and the coughing just made things worse.

She rolled over and was about to go back to sleep when she realized she had to get up for the game. Not that Kaylie had any enthusiasm for it, she would have been content to lie in bed all day even if she wasn't in excrutiating pain. Ever since she and Chris had...that thing with Chris, Kaylie had been barely able to function. She hardly ate, slept the vast majority of the time and moved through classes like a zombie. She felt like this Quidditch game was something else she just had to do, the way classes were and she had no idea how she was going to be able to concentrate on the game. (Kaylie wasn't ever really able to concentrate in class, so that wasn't really different.)

Kaylie lifted her head off the pillow. It felt like it weighted a ton. She pushed herself up into a sitting position and clenched her eyes shut as the room spun. I must get up. I have to! Kaylie encouraged herself.

She took one step out of bed, her knees feeling wobbly. Kaylie walked out the door to her room, down the hall and the stairs into the common room. She didn't get more than a few feet from the stairs before she collapsed to the ground coughing.

Jake

Okay by Jake

Jake hadn't gotten nearly enough sleep to have to Captain his team against the game today. He was incredibly nervous despite having beaten Pecari in the Championship Game. Perhaps because that team still seemed a bit cocky about it all. Who knew.

He was going over the plays in his head when he made his way out of his dorm room, saying farewell to his roommate as he did so. Practices have been going farely well, when Jake thought about it, it could be because most members had been on the team long enough to know what each other were going to do and just how exactly each one played specifically. The newbies were still having to get used to the whole process, but Jake had faith in them.

Jake was about to head directly out of the dorm and down for a quick breakfast, when he noticed a person in a heap on the ground. Frowning, Jake approached only to find that it was his Seeker.

Immediately Jake thought someone had hexed her to keep her from playing, but the way she was coughing, Jake figured she must have only been sick.

Wonderful.

Jake sighed inwardly. Of course, his seeker had to get sick on this day of all days. Just what he needed. If he recalled, she had gotten sick during the last game with Pecaris as well. Either her body reacted to stress in the worst way or her body just had a really weak immune system. Either way, Jake would have to confront her about it later.

Right now, he didn't have time to deal with her.

"Kaylie." Jake bent and gently picked her off the ground and half carried, half dragged her to a chair. "I'll have Hannah play today. You should probably see the medic if you're that bad." Though he was irritated, he kept his voice light and with concern. "I'll check on you after the game."
