Sorry! I didn't see you there! by Perdita

If there ever was a moment where Perdita doubted Sonora and it's ability to amaze her, she took it all back. On the tour given by Professor Fawcett, she'd taken in all (well, maybe not all, but a good bit) there was to see at Sonora, and she fell in love. It wasn't home away from home, not quite yet, and she did miss her father dearly, but oh, the company of books would ease her weary heart tremendously. Perdita had followed him into the Common room where he had finished his speech, but as soon as she got the chance, she darted back to the library.

There were just so many books! From fact to fiction, magical to muggle! She was in love. Granted, most books were academic, but oh that didn't matter. She took studying quite seriously, and there wasn't a doubt in her mind this place would be one of her closest companions. As sad as the realization was, a place being a close friend, it was no doubt the truth. Perdita perused the aisles, examining the rustic tomes of old knowledge to the slightly newer models, whispering the titles under her breath, waiting for something to interest her.

Something caught her eye. Potions! No doubt she'd want to study that. Perdita pulled the book from it's shelf and tucked it close under her arm. As she waded through the large amounts of collected knowledge, she pulled a few selected things from the aisle until she was struggling to carry them and couldn't see very well over her head.

"Oof!" Perdita cried out as she crashed into someone. Oh no, this was terrible! She made a move to help the person up off the ground. "Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there! I got a bit carried away with the books, you see." Perdita's cheeks burned with embarrassment. "I'm so sorry," she repeated.

Invisibility has its benefits by Cherry Bosko

Cherry Bosko didn't have to go wandering the school by herself to know that she really needed a map of this place. So she took out a piece of paper and started wandering around trying to put all the pieces together. When she happened upon the library, she felt a little stupid. The library would probably have some old tome somewhere about the history of the school. There would be diagrams and maps and maybe even blueprints. Copying a map from a book would be far simpler and more accurate than trying to make one herself. In she marched.

Not knowing where else to start, Cherry started hunting around for whatever a computer with an easily searchable card catalogue in it looked like in the wizarding world. She wasn't sure what a non-digital card catalogue would look like, since her local library and school libraries all just had computers.

She was just leaning down to look at a book that she though might be growling at her, when she yelped. It wasn't the book that she yelped at though. There was a thing that crashed into her and sent her suddenly and unceremoniously tumbling to the floor. While she was down there she had a really good view of the Crup's Book of Dogs and could definitively say that, yes, the book was definitely growling. It was also chained shut and shaking vigorously.

Cherry scrambled back from the book with another yelp, and turned back to see the girl who'd knocked her over. She was apologizing and seemed nice enough. Cherry let the other girl help her up.

"It's okay," Cherry brushed herself off and took a couple more steps away from the dog book. "I was distracted. I've never had a book growl at me before. I didn't even know it was possible, actually. I mean, it is growling right? I'm not just imagining this?"

Indeed, but sometimes it can be a bit of a nuisance. by Perdita

"Oh no," she said to the girl. "I hear it too. Isn't this place wonderful?! Books that actually growl! Though I can't imagine it to be terribly healthy to the reader..." Perdita added as an afterthought. She gathered her books again but instead of holding them, she placed them on the side of her to be reached for later. Perdita turned to the girl she so rudely knocked down and held out her hand.

"Perdita Rothens, pleased to meet you." She said, giving a grin. "Though, I am sorry about knocking you over. It's a horrible way of meeting a person." Perdita would know, she's done it on several occasions at the muggle school she used to attend, and it had been in the library as well. There was just something about the musky scent of books that got to her and made her brain overload. Perdita loved it. Regardless, most people she generally met that way weren't very happy with her and told her off. It was a bit surprising that this girl didn't. Refreshing too, actually. Some people knew that mistakes happened.

"Were you looking for something?" Perdita asked, curious. "I don't know my way around the library very well, having just arrived and everything, but as they say, two heads are often better than one."

Especially when people run into you. by Cherry Bosko

Cherry let the other girl haul her to her feet and gave the dog book wide clearance as Perdita Rothens introduced herself. Cherry smiled as she equated the name Perdita with the mother dog from 101 Dalmatians. Between that and the dog book, she decided Perdita was a name she could remember today.

"Cherry Bosko," Cherry introduced herself. Perdita was apparently a babbler and Cherry was quick to follow suit. "Nice meeting you, too. Sort of. I mean, it is, except for the whole falling over part."

Cherry appreciated Perdita's offer to help. She seemed nice enough and a little too bubble-headed herself to be judgey about that kind of thing, so Cherry wasn't as worried as she might have been with her housemates about looking like an idiot in front of her. "I'm actually looking for a map of the school. I was hoping to find one with all the secret passages and stuff, maybe in a book about the history of building or something. But really, I'd settle for one that shows me how to get to the food."

Cherry glanced around to make sure they were alone before confiding, "I thought I'd start with the card catalogue, but it doesn't seem like they have one? Do you know what the wizarding equivalent is? Don't tell anyone, but a lot of this stuff is pretty new to me."
