Finally where I belong by Nova Wynn

During her almost one and half terms she had now spent at Sonora, Nova had never gone to explore the Library. That fact alone stunned even the second year herself. The self acclaimed bookworm had assumed she would be practically living there. She had mostly kept her head down over the last term, assuming that since her little fight with that cursed Marcus boy and that stupid Trasnfiguration teacher must have spread, and she was now being considered a bad student. Nova knew if there was one thing she was not, it was a bad student. Bad students couldn’t read a novel the length of the dictionary in two days. Bad students couldn’t quietly sit through a beginner Transfiguration lesson, and allow her to practice different spells on pointless insects. Bad students did not have her upbringing, let alone the blood she was blessed to carry in her veins. But who would believe a second year, even one of her status, over the word of a teacher? She sighed at her predicament. Maybe it had been long enough for her to pick her head back up and really show everyone the genius she truly was!

Walking around the library and admiring the huge wooden shelves, Nova took a deep breath and inhaled the scent of what she thought to be knowledge; old and wise. “Merlin, it’s good to finally feel at home,” she said to no one in particular. The library had a majestic feel to it. Not as the one that included her favorite old chair and the gigantic map rug she adored at her Grandparents’ home, but majestic none the less.

The little pureblood scanned the high shelves for a new book to read. Thus far, everything she had seen she had either all ready completed, or deemed to ignorant to bother finishing. A little trick she learned in her father’s study, Nova never even glanced at the bottom shelves. They almost always contained only very unintelligent reading material, worthy of only the most childish of people. The real good reading material was always higher up the shelf, eye level with the average adult. This always angered Nova. What of the brighter children, such as herself?

Finally eyeing an interesting book, Nova dragged over a sturdy chair and hopped up onto the arms to reach her prize. Reaching above her head to grab the reddish cover, the Aladren was knocked off her feet by a sharp nudge at her side. Plummeting to the cushion beneath, she gave a small “oomph!” as the book she had been reaching towards fell in her lap. Glaring at the person beside her who she assumed had delivered the fatal nudge, she let lose her wrath. “Merlin! What do you think you’re doing? What right have you to touch me?

This is not where I belong, but I like it by Valentina Bentancourt

Valentina was beyond ecstatic! she finally had a place where she could practice her dance routines at school. Madam Abramova would be very pleased with her once she returned home, she was always going on about how behind she was from the rest of her ballet class, but it wasn’t her fault that she had to attend school so far from home. It saddened her that she couldn’t practice like she wanted to, ballet was her life, and she relished every minute she found to practice. She missed the feel of the tutus, tights and leotards on her body, and the way she felt after a dancing work-out. Since she could remember, she had wanted to be a Prima Ballerina, and according to Madam Abramova she could become one, but she needed to put her heart and soul into it. She tried, she really did, but it was hard when she was far from home and the school didn’t offer the facilities for it. Thankfully, that had changed, and she would become the beautiful Prima Ballerina that everyone applauded for and sent flowers to. She would be internationally famous and her father would be proud of her.

Before all of that could happen, she needed to graduate from Sonora. That was the first step, to get her magical education degree. After that, she would be able to dedicate her whole time to ballet. The second-year decided to start her homework a little early, instead of Saturday morning, Friday afternoon. It seemed like a very good idea. Mostly because she had taken a break from her dance practice. Her body needed rest, and she had some accumulated homework that had to be handed in.

The Library at Sonora was enormous and beautiful, unlike the one she had at home. Her home library was not small by any account, but it had no comparison to this. Valentina was not very fond of reading, but she found the Library to be a place where she found some kind of peace. Also, the thought of it having so many knowledge stored amazed her.

Since she was very happy about the new room at Sonora, she left her things on top of a desk and went to look for a book she needed. She had misplaced her Transfiguration book. The Library was more or less empty, so the Spaniard began dancing her way through the halls. During a double pirouette, she bumped into something or more like someone. She gasped, “I am so..” but her apology was interrupted by the other girl’s angry reply. Valentina just looked at her, not really sure what to do, she had never had someone talk to her like that before. “I am really sorry, I didn’t mean to do it,” she murmured.
