Bookwork ugg. by Starbuck Gregory

Starbuck entered the Library loaded down with books, she had to write her transfiguration paper tonight or it was going to be late. She had totally forgotten about it until this morning when Professor Wolfe reminded them about it. Luckily she didn’t have Quidditch practice tonight so right after classes she dropped off her bag, changed from her robes grabbed his transfiguration book and a couple of others before heading off to eat. She had bolted down dinner before coming up the to the library, usually a perfectly free Pecari place.

She selected a table tucked away in the back and out of view; she didn’t want to become known as a studious person. She spread out her books and began reading the chapter she was supposed to have read two weeks ago. Starbuck had been slacking on her homework for a while now and wondered if that was normal for Pecaris. She moved her red hair out of her face and sighed. She hated doing actually bookwork, wand work was one thing the second year but writing was just so boring.

She picked up her book and began to rock on two legs of the chair. She was just getting into the chapter when someone came over and slammed their books down. “Hey!” She cried unhappily. “Do you mind I’m trying to read here!” She whispered after her loud outburst.

Angry by Tawny Brockert

Tawny was irritated. She had come to the library looking for Alessa, whom she wanted as a sidekick friend. The third year could hardly stand any of the other girls in her year or the ones above or below. Most of them were stuck up little princesses and the second year Pecaris were loathesome obnoxious little twerps. It was best to have the one girl Tawny could stand as an ally, especially given she was the Pecari's cousin.

Unfortunately, Alessa was nowhere to be found. Tawny couldn't fathom this. Aladrens were supposed to live in the library practically. Why wasn't Alessa here now ? She was quite disappointed, and when Tawny was disappointed, Tawny got mad .

She wasn't even sure who she was angry at, she was just mad at the world . Whenever she didn't get what she wanted, anger just bubbled up inside her. Tawny had little control over it and it had made her accidental magic go on longer than usual. And sometimes she broke things on purpose.

Tawny grabbed a book and found a table in the back of the library, where there was unlikely to be many people. She didn't particularly want to deal with anyone now, except the person she'd come to bloody find in the first place. She slammed the book down hard on the table, taking out her feelings on the innocent tome.

“Do you mind I’m trying to read here!”

The third year looked over, ready to bite the speaker's head off. When she noticed who it was, she realized that she would enjoy doing so immensely. "Like you and your roommates have any room to talk." Tawny shot back. "Always singing-and horridly, I may add-and making all kinds of noise. Do you realize you're disturbing the rooms on both sides of yours when you do?" She doubted the second year did. They had no consideration for others.

Honestly, Tawny didn't know if this one was the singer and honestly, she didn't care.

More then annoyed... by Starbuck

"Like you and your roommates have any room to talk. Always singing-and horridly, I may add-and making all kinds of noise. Do you realize you're disturbing the rooms on both sides of yours when you do? The voice snapped back at her, she sighed her dislike of Mel deepening even more. When an older student hated you because of your roommate, you knew said roommate was the worse one in the world. Starbuck didn’t like being lumped in with Demelza Eagle, she wasn’t like that loud mouth in any way.

She looked up at the other girl and could not remember her name, knowing it started with a T. Starbuck swept her hair out of her face and raised an eyebrow. “Oh I think I realize more then anyone how disturbing my roommate can be, you at least have a wall between you and the singing.” She really did dislike Mel’s singing and had to deal with often and at least the girl slept in a different room then her.

“Do you think I like being here in the Library?” Starbuck asked as she waved her hand. “This isn’t exactly fun for me, but this is the only place in the school that the horrid singer will not come and annoy me.” With a shake of her head she went back to her book not caring what the girl had to say back to her.

Actually somewhat intrigued. by Tawny

Wow, that had really not been the response Tawny had been expecting. She had been expecting the second year to be annoyed, but Tawny had expected most of the anger to be directed at her . She had been preparing to fight, hex the girl if necessary (and in fact, had been hoping for the chance. Those second year Pecaris really annoyed her.)

Tawny had not been expecting the girl, whom she would from now on refer to as Redhaired Twerp because she didn't know any of their names except Nina's and only because Nina was related to her to agree with her about how annoying Singing Twerp was.

Perhaps her suspicions about the Pecari second year girls not getting on so well was true. Tawny decided to procede. The more info she had, the more useful it would be in hopefully driving a wedge further between them, the way they had tried taking Jose from her.

"Which one is the singer?" Tawny asked Redhaired Twerp. "Is it Nina? I want to know exactly who to be annoyed with." And hex first opportunity, but the third year wasn't about to let this girl on to that part of her plan. More importantly, Tawny wanted to know exactly who disliked who in that group, who the wedge was exactly between. Maybe Alessa could be useful on that front too,she was in their year.

Well that's a turn of events I didnt see coming. by Starbuck

Starbuck was still staring at her book, not really reading but hoping the older girl would go away, when she asked which one was the singer. “No it’s not Nina, she’s quiet. It’s Demelza Eagle.” Starbuck said with a roll of her eyes. She was really not in the mood to talk about Mel she had come to the library to get away from the annoying one. But then again the girl seemed to understand how annoying the singing could be. “She’s the cause of most of the noise in our room.” She said in a matter of a fact way.

She swept her red hair out of her face. “Why did you assume Nina was the singer of the group?” She asked before she could help herself. Nina was the normal one of her three roommates, at least in Starbuck’s mind. ‘Damn it Stary, mind your own business.’ She chided herself as she began to fiddle with her star charm that Ishmael had given her for her birthday.

The second year didn’t want to talk about Mel but apparently it was okay to talk about Nina. The red head closed her book and picked up her bag before standing up and moving to the older girl’s table. That way they didn’t talk as loudly as they had been. The last thing Starbuck needed was to be banned from the library for talking too loudly.

I admit, I'm equally surprised. by Tawny

"Interesting." Tawny replied. "Which one is she?" She had not bothered to learn their names, but she knew which one was Nina and assumed that she could eliminate the redhead and the boy as being Demelza. She also had been able to eliminate the boy as the singer based on the fact that he obviously did not live in the room next to her and the singing voice clearly belonging to a female.

Tawny did not react when the other girl moved to her table. Even though she would have preferred that Redhaired Twerp didn't. "Actually, I didn't necessarily assume it was Nina. It was just that her name was the only one I knew, so I merely asked. You see, she's my cousin."

Third cousin actually, whom Tawny had only met a handful of times and seen around the common room. To her, Nina was the great-granddaughter of the patriarch, whose parents let their kids get away with far more than Tawny's ever would and had higher status in their family than she did.The third year was loathe to admit it, even to herself, but she envied Nina and her siblings.

However, she would never ever defer to the younger girl. Ever. Tawny was older and, she thought, more intelligent. Nor would she defer to a member of the Twerp Brigade, even if said Twerp outranked her in her family. In fact, Tawny could consider that Nina's new title, the Royal Twerp.

Nina was also the girl who'd outed her cousin Oliver at his own wedding. That, admittedly, had been amusing, even though Tawny had not known what 'gay' meant at the time. She had learned it quickly, then and there.

"You should find a way to get back at her, you know." Tawny suggested. "Demelza, I mean, not Nina. Unless Nina's done something to annoy you as well."

It had surprised Tawny that Redhaired Twerp had described Nina as quiet. The third year didn't even think Pecaris were allowed to be quiet. Wouldn't someone who was quiet have turned a different color entirely? Maybe Redhaired Twerp meant in comparison to Singing Twerp and um, Other Twerp. (Tawny didn't know anything else about the fourth second year Pecari girl. If she learned anything she would give her a new nickname.)

"It's what I would do. Maybe the silencing charm? Or something that would glue her lips together? " Tawny offered. "You could slip her a potion of some kind. One that would make her tongue swell up so she couldn't talk." She was offering suggestions more for herself than to be helpful to the other girl. To widen the rift, plus the joys of seeing Demelza suffer and the benefit of not having to listen to her atrocious voice.

"Demelza would probably appreciate the prank. Most Pecaris love pranks, now don't they? Of course, you may not want to do it if it'll make her happy. You don't seem to like her very much."

I'm glad we are in the same boat. by Starbuck

“Demelza is the one who doesn’t draw on her shoes.” Starbuck said figuring that would be the easiest way to differentiate between Demelza and Delilah. “Delilah has a twin in Aladren, Veronica.” She said with a shrug that was the best she could do for the older girl, she still wasn’t sure of her name but apparently that didn’t matter to either of the girls. When the girl said Nina was her cousin Starbuck was surprised.

“I didn’t know Nina had a cousin in Pecari.” She mumbled for a moment sweeping her red hair out of her face. She hated her hair it was way too long, maybe during midterm she would get it cut. When the girl said that Starbuck could get back at Demelza she smiled a bit. “I think she would have a fit if I put a silencing charm on her or gluing her lips together, she can’t stay quiet for a full five seconds let alone be forced to be quiet.” She allowed herself to picture casting a permanent sticking charm on Demelza’s lip and giggled a bit.

“I think you’re rather brilliant! I would never have thought of gluing her lips together, a silencing charm is too easy to get around.” Starbuck said with a nod. “I’m Starbuck Gregory by the way.” She said not bothering to hold out her hand, the girl seemed to be one that would refuse to shake your hand.
