The day of the Crotalus-Pecari Quidditch match found Alessa any place but the pitch. She could see honestly no reason to go. Not only was she disinterested in general but it would be loud and crowded and her house wasn't even playing. She had relatives currently in Pecari, but they weren't playing either so why would she care?

Alessa had instead decided to go to the library. She much preferred reading to watching some sport that her parents said she shouldn't like anyway. Her distaste for Quidditch was the one thing she knew she'd pleased her parents with. She might not be a good dancer and occasionally when she was stressed like at the opening feast she let her manners lapse (though in fairness, Anna and James were muggleborns and Alessa's parents wouldn't have cared quite so much if she was perfect around them) but at least she wasn't into Quidditch.

Her grades would probably please them too. Alessa's worst subject was Care of Magical Creatures and she wasn't even doing that bad in it. It was the one she had little interest in. It wasn't so bad that it made the list of stuff that gave her a headache to hear people talk about but she was just indifferent.

Besides, her family regarded it as unnecessary anyway. Alessa just needed the basic four:Charms, Transfiguration, Potions and a bit of Defense. As far as History went, she was just plain interested.

In fact, Alessa liked to read historical novels too. Not about any particular historical figure (though she liked reading pureblood family histories which may also have largely qualified as fiction) but just books that took place a long time ago.

She also had an odd tendency to become obsessed with just a few authors at a time. Right now, Alessa was in the fiction section searching desperately for her favorite series. Suddenly, she heard someone approach her.
