Another year starting in the library... by Guenther Heindrich

Guenther woke up early just as was his habit on the first full day at school. He had come prepared with a few D&D books hoping that Zack, Ginger, and him could start a game at some point in the near future. He had never DMed before so he hoped someone else knew how.

He sat leafing through the books, trying to decide on a different race for his new character. His old characters reminded him too much of the times that he had played with his brother Kaleb.

Guenther shook his head to get the thought out and then sat up straight and looked around. At least no one saw him. He had a habit of staring out into space in public and thinking. People at home often looked at him weird because of the faces he made while doing this.

He hoped that Zack would come today. If not, Guenther would keep his table claimed. He wondered if Zack would put a different sign on it this year. Whatever Zack did, it was sure to be interesting.

As he started to read the section about elves, someone else joined him. He smiled. "HI!" he said happily.

Zack Dill, Head Boy

So it is by Zack Dill, Head Boy

Normally, on the first full day of classes, Zack was up and at his table long before most people even considered rolling out of bed. He had a spot to claim that was his and his territory needed to be clearly marked. Unfortunately, he was running a little late this year.

When he did get there, he stopped short for a moment because his spot was occupied. Then his initial surprise faded and he realized it was Guenther there and he relaxed. Guenther was all right. Zack resumed his movement toward the table and plopped down his prefect sign. The alterations to the sign were why he was running late. Now it read:

He had considered adding Chris's name, too, but the sixth year didn't usually hang out at the Prefect Station table in the library, like Zack and Guenther did. If that changed, Zack could change the sign then. Until then, the station was his and Guenther's.

"Hey," he returned the greeting and sat down across from his much larger friend. His eyes took in the books Guenther was looking at a wide grin split across his face. "Awesome, you brought your books again. I heard Ginger's not coming back, so I was thinking we might want to try recruiting for fresh party members. Maybe put up a sign in the commons. We could probably advertise in Muggle Studies, too. Professor Williams might even give participants extra credit." Doubtful, but it was worth hoping for.
